Hereno
Egyptian troops moved into Ethiopia, Sudan, and non-Italian Eritrea today to set up an "Egyptian Economic Zone" protectorate for the various tribes and city-states in the region which interact heavily with the Egyptian Nile and African economic bases. Fizzydog
Italy asks for the Egyptian regime to remove their soldiers from Eritrea. Italy has a claim on the region. Our foreign ministry also advises Egypt to avoid expanding into Djibouti or Somaliland, for these regions too are in Italian interest. The Egyptian government invites Italian representatives to Cairo to discuss the future of east Africa. At this time, we will not be removing our troops from the area. However, we will tentatively recognize a one mile DMZ between Italian Eritrea and the area of our protectorate, subject to re-negotiation. [b][Private][/b] The Egyptians would be on guard and watchful for any sudden movements by the Italian military.

Count Ciano will be sent to our embassy in Cairo at once. Edited September 10, 2014 by Fizzydog
Hereno
The Egyptian Army has unveiled its new standard-issue rifle, the ESR-35. With an effective firing range of 1,000m on scoped sniper editions, and a "paltry" 500m using the cheaper iron sights, the rifle would be well-suited to combat at long range; especially across flat terrain with few obstructions. This would help to nullify its relatively small five-shot capacity, along with the addition of a bayonet and additional units armed with weapons more suited to urban and close-range warfare. One weapon for this purpose is planned to be unveiled by the Egyptian Army and sent into mass-production later this month.
Hereno
[Top Secret]Operation: Whites of EyesAn ASDIC-like system has been developed and is currently in use in Egyptian territorial waters and Egyptian-controlled regions of the Red Sea & Suez canal to identify potential submarine threats to the state and its people. Early warning radar systems are being constructed along all Egyptian borders to identify potentially hostile aircraft. While constantly being experimented with and debugged, the systems would provide state-of-the-art (for their time) coverage on near unprecedented scale. One weapon for this purpose is planned to be unveiled by the Egyptian Army and sent into mass-production later this month. Production has been halted on the ESR-35 just weeks after its production after fatal flaws were found in post-production testing. Egyptian Arms President Rasheed al-Amin has resigned over the embarrassment, and production capacity has been switched back to the older ESR-31 rifle. An Egyptian adaptation of the M1916 Spanish Mauser, it uses the smaller 7x57mm round and has a tangent rear sight calibrated from 200 to 2,000 meters; similar to the Ottoman adaptation, using eastern Arabic numerals. [Secret]With the entire ESR-35 design being scrapped, the Egyptian armed forces have begun extensive marksmanship training to more properly make use of the trustworthy old rifle. They have additionally begun a trial of hollow point rounds for their best marksmen, with Egyptian Arms claiming that the hollow point bullets have a greater stopping power for the smaller bullet, in addition to increasing its already brilliant accuracy. Hereno
One of the defining moments of Umar's Supreme Generalship was a series of edicts made after his appointment as temporary dictator of the Imperial Republic. Sweeping reforms were made, including a new title for the nation, which was personified by the fair-handed leadership of Umar Abdullah bin Zaid. Women and men held hands in the street, rejoicing at the birth of the new Afro-Arab Jamahiriya. Edicts of Umar 1. The administration of Egypt and its allied peoples shall be that of Jamahiriya. 2. The legislative body of the Egyptian Afro-Arab Jamahiriya shall be the Senate, comprised of delegates from every municipal workers' council in the territories. 3. The Supreme General shall hereby be appointed from among the generals of the army to serve as long as the Senate deems fit. 4. The Supreme General shall continue to be considered our foreign face, Senate head, and commander-in-chief of our Jamahiriya. 5. The little green book, authored by myself, shall be pressed immediately in multiple languages and distributed freely to all of the people of our Jamahiriya. Legislators and workers immediately got to work, encoding rights and civil liberties into a small-but-substantial manifesto of the vision and apparatus created by Umar to carry out that vision. Electricity ran through the fingertips of over a hundred million persons formerly divided as they formed a single great Circuit, with one pulse, one energy, in unity of division. Electricity ran through the fingertips of over a hundred million persons formerly divided as they formed a single great Circuit, with one pulse, one energy, in unity of division. With the political matters coming into place, the Supreme General focused all of his attention on where his most obvious role was: the military. A large revamping of the armed forces was in order, and production of several important new pieces of technology was to augment the defense of the Jamahiriya. Work was already underway to secure substantial amounts of Browning machine guns and their plans from the Confederacy, and several other regional powers would eventually be contacted if local designs proved ineffective during tests.
