The Horde is Coming

The Saxon Army was to, at least officially, be disbanded upon its re-absorption back into the Northlandic sphere of influence. However, that was not to come to pass. As Northlandic troops began to take over administration of the lands of Saxony, the entire armed forces of the Saxon state would load themselves up and head to the now-deserted island of Iceland. They seized towns, procured rations, and made runways re-usable. A simple message was to be dispatched to the government of Tikal:

On behalf of the Grand Saxon Army now stationed in Iceland, I hereby warn Tikal that in 24 hours we will be taking all of Greenland for a grand, new Saxon state. Any Tikal military assets in the region will be destroyed if not commandeered, and any citizens or soldiers left behind will be summarily executed.

You have been warned.

Radar, satellite, and other intelligence gathering would provide large amounts of information and surveillance capability. The army, a nation unto itself, was on high alert, ready to begin raping and pillaging the Greenlandic countryside. A squadron of Eurofighters would, out of range of defensive measures in Greenland, survey the island every so often and provide reconnaissance to forces on the ground. Communications were sent out to all former Saxon allies informing them that they were no longer to be allies, except the state of Northlands, which had already begun taking over the entirety of the Saxon mainland as per the agreement previously made about what should happen to that land if the Landtag were ever to be dissolved.

From La Paz, Bolivia to Saxony.

"Ok, lets get something straight. Bolivia is not on your side. The only reason we are sending this is because we are doing what is right.

Currently we are in a battle with the New World Order about what a colony is. And we, at least, have concluded that a colony is if a seperate nation sends people to a land seperate from that nation.

With that in mind, if your nation annexes Greenland to become the new Saxony, but not Iceland, or when you annex Greenland, you have no land in Europe, and your capital is in Greenland, we, at least Bolivia, will not consider it a colony, and thus not defend the Americas because it is not a colony, just a war/battle/conflict, and in the New World Order, you do not have to fight in a war to do with NWO values, following? Thus, you will have one less nation to fight.

Be Smart."

[Private: to Bolivia]

(Encrypted with AES-256)

We have no intention of staying in the wasteland that is Iceland. We are moving to Greenland to start a new Saxon Reich, although any of the people of Iceland are welcome to accompany us or join our forces in the meantime. Iceland, for us, is merely a stepping stone on the path to glory.

But if you say you are against colonizing, then why are you not on our side? What is Tikal if not a colonial nation, spanning from Hawaii, to Greenland, and on all three continents of the Americas? What claim do the people of central America have to Greenland, a nation which has historically been settled and owned by Germanic peoples? And yet you would support them wantonly murdering hundreds of thousands of us in defense of their colonial outpost, in the name of stopping colonialism. Ha! The nation of Bolivia, if it knows what is good for it, will seize upon this opportunity to weaken the real colonizers and oppressors of the Americas: Tikal.

Signed,
The General Edited by Hereno

OOC: RP unpaused.

This is a notice and reminder that you can't continue to RP about something that has been temporarily paused. TBM's post can't exist because Hereno's message wasn't public and Foch obviously posted after the pause.

Additionally, everything is cleared to proceed. Because Hereno decided to transplant his military forces to a completely new location and nation, he would need time to start up his new nation and get himself situated. Therefore he would need to wait a few days to actually start an invasion, but that doesn't limit declarations being made or other actions. This should be worked out IC.

To Saxony,

We understand, and we are not fans of Tikal. They recently took half of Peru from us. But that is not the point. We are not fans of colonization, and yes, i agree that Tikal does do that. But the issue here is not who's side we are on. Right now, the last thing we need is for every nation in America to be against us. It does not make political sense. I am sorry, but currently it is difficult to see anything smart about doing this. We will keep in touch, and good luck.

From La Paz,

Presidente Foch of the Bolivian Army

The Saxon message was received but not answered.

However, Tikal's fleets were called into the Atlantic Ocean with the exception of Hawaii Command. This meant four carrier battlegroups at full alert would be travelling towards the Greenlandian possessions at the greatest speed they could achieve.
The garrison of four infantry divisions, two Leopard 2A7+ tank brigades, two battalions of specialist vehicles, and several battalions of support vehicles, all a remnant of protecting against Iceland, would be reinforced with all possible celerity. At least six further divisions and several more vehicle brigades were made ready and ferried by air and sea, using the improved airstrips of the military base. Troops scattered in bases throughout Greenland and the Canadian islands would be recalled and brought to Nuuk base, resulting in another division able to defend.
Thule, Bermuda and Trinidad bases would temporarily be stripped of all garrisoned airplanes, ferried to Nuuk airbase. This would result in three squadrons of Typhoons, one of Rafales and one of F-22 at the base, while the carriers would bring further aircraft once they arrived, both fixed wing and not.

Two E-3 Sentry planes were launched to keep tabs on Iceland and the Saxons. Defence systems and local troops would be brought to highest alert, Brahmos and Tomahawk cruise missiles being prepped for launch against hostile ships. Brahmos were slated for combat vessels, Tomahawks for landing ships of all sorts.

The majority of Tikal's forces up here had spent the last years here in the north, and thus were well-adapted to the environment. Hopefully, the Saxons would be far less adapted.

All of the NWO's members would be informed of Tikal's activities via secure and encrypted channels. Intercepting the Saxons while they were en route to Greenland - or anywhere else if they changed course - was of the utmost importance. Satellites would find their orbits changed as surveillance of the Saxon forces took priority over most other things.

The short message from Saxony was made public.

"The Principality would greatly appreciate any help that other states wish to provide in light of this rogue state trying to conquer lands like the destructive and murderous Barbarian hordes of the past"

[OOC: I'm really not used to writing war posts anymore. Hope I didn't miss any preparations.
Also, do I get to use my Optional stuff as I RPd it?]

A secure message would be sent to Tikal.
"We will send additional reinforcements, if you would accept them, to defend greenland."

The UCS navy would meet and travel with the tikal carrier groups to greenland. With the ucs navy, an additional fleet of cargo ships would be sent, carrying a division of soldiers, a variety of arms and munitions, a T-90 tank brigade, anti ship and anti air systems, a squadron of SU-35s, and a squadron of F-15s. The two wasp class ships would also come with 20 AV-8B harrier attack craft, 20 supercobras, and 12 ASW aircraft.

Public

"We stand by Tikal in their attempt to prevent foreign colonialism of Greenland. Any attack on Greenand by The Saxon army will be seen as an attack on the UCS and will be treated as such."

Dear Saxony,

This is Presidente Foch writing. On behalf of the Territory of Bolivia and the Bolivian Army, I will bring myself on a diplomatic mission to Iclandic lands. I will land wherever your currently acting capital is, which I would assume is Reykjavik, but notify me personally if I am incorrect in saying so. Hopefully we may set the record straight on what you are doing here. I will arrive in about 16 hours, and I hope to be welcomed. Please, your nations future in America depends on it.

Straight from La Paz,

Presidente Ferdinand Foch of the Bolivian Army

Classified Transmission to Tikal

We would be willing to send military advisors to aid Tikal in Greenland. Our men are the best of the best when it comes to Arctic warfare and could certainly help your forces in the environment. Should you need additional aid, we would be willing to send units from our Tactical Strike Force to work in ground combat missions and special operations against the Saxon military, and other forces who may come to their aid.

"After thorough deliberation, we have come to the conclusion that Bolivia's opinion is less unfounded than previously admitted by our government.

The Principality hereby announces that it will abandon its bases in Greenland to the Saxons. Protracted war over the Island would only result in unnecessary bloodshed, and as long as the new State's capital is in Greenland, we will have no problems with them. We apologise for our previous statements - they were made in haste and without thinking rationally about it."

As announced, all forces were ordered to return to their ports, though they were to remain at high alert. The bases in Thule and Nuuk would be abandoned, all relevant technology either thoroughly destroyed or taken back home. All forces in Greenland would have to be ferried to temporary bases in Quebec until they could be brought back into the mainland proper, but that wasn't much of a concern. The Saxons would have their new land.

Most states do not respond well to threats, especially when their citizens and soldiers are threatened with execution, but Tikal capitulated faster than any regional power in history has before. The Politburo will be sure to make a note of this event for future reference. Congratulations Saxony. -Chairman Volkov.

We thank the leadership of Tikal for seeing with wisdom and clarity. In recognition of their decision to avoid needless bloodshed, Tikal will be given the option to maintain reduced activity in the Thule air base, and its operators will be given free lodging within the nearby city of Qaanaaq at the expense of the Saxon governing authorities. This is, of course, conditional on following our laws, but we don't foresee that to be a problem given the sensibility displayed and sensitivity of the situation.

[Private]

The Saxons moved into Greenland, abandoning Iceland completely. Most of the Icelandic citizens had agreed to join the Saxons, but some had stayed behind on the barren island. The native citizens of Greenland would welcome their new governance with hesitance, but they would soon learn to love the Saxons as their brothers, sisters, and fellow Greenlanders. The population of Greenland would boom, and new outposts would be made in addition to rapid development to house all of the new equipment and people.

"Tikal's main concern was that the 'invasion' had been perceived as foreign colonialism. This is upon further and closer examination not the case, which in turn led us to permit Saxony to establish themselves on Greenland. If you wish to see this as 'surrender' of some sort, feel free to misinterpret these events."

[To the Saxons]

"We appreciate your offer in regards to Thule Air Base, and gladly agree to it. Would a garrison of 1,000 Tikalian military personnel, some armoured vehicles and a squadron of airplanes be sufficiently small for this agreement?"

While only about twice the size of a 'skeleton crew', it would be enough to keep all systems in the base running, if not defend well against attack. Then again, it was far from most, if not all danger.

What I see is that an aggressive state may directly threaten your citizens, make outlandish demands and get away with it. I'd say that's an accurate interpretation of these events. -Chairman Volkov.

"That's funny coming from a nation that is a non entity in the centre of Russia. You cant even take back what you claim is rightly yours. Until you get your affairs in order you dont really have the foundation to insult a nation like Tikal that is clearly doing way better than you."
