Uberstein
A private message would be sent to the appropriate government office in Japan, "The African League is prepared to discuss diplomatic relations with the Imperium of Japan, in the city of Gaborone. The meeting, hosted by the Federal Union of Southern African Republics, will take place on [Insert RP Date Here for Whenever You Respond]." Advanced security measures would be taken to ensure nothing could possibly go wrong; a full division of Internal Security Troops were posted to active duty in the city. The Office of State Intelligence & Security's political officers within the division were given special warrants to investigate suspicious behavior. The Sir Seretse Khama International Airport would have a terminal secured for foreign dignitary arrival.
Mogar
The black SonicStar with the Chrysanthemum seal upon the tail would arrive at the scheduled time, containing Osamu Saito, it was not expected to require security in South Africa. Uberstein
Osamu Saito would be brought to the conference room, located in the federal government complex, where they would await on the other African League representatives to arrive. OOC: For the sake of sanity we'll assume they arrive in a reasonable timeframe after they post.
Uberstein
((Pullin' the trigger)) After everyone had arrived and was seated, Ms. Bafokeng would speak, "Well, I'm glad we can speak with Japan under less tense circumstances. So, what is Japan looking for, exactly?"
Mogar
"Some level of economic cooperation agreement, as we are the world's leader producer of consumer electronics and have a robust automotive industry, that would be our main industries we'd like to focus on for the reduction of tariffs and the like from your end. As we have Great Lakes Republic currently acting as our transportation liaison, additional business with the Imperium benefits Africa as well. Additional we have a great interest in large amounts of resources that we require for the continued growth of our own economy. Chromite, cobalt, natural diamonds, and manganese, to name a few." Uberstein
"Africa's resources have always been a point of interest; given the continent's history, they are both a blessing and a curse. If trade barriers were to be lowered, we would need some form of absolute assurance that the corporate exploitations of the past would not happen again. I propose that at the minimum, Japanese corporations should be limited in their ability to directly establish themselves on the continent of Africa. This would ensure that local corporations would have to be used, allowing local economic growth, as well as the ability for Japan to access Africa resources at a reasonable cost. What do the other League representatives think of this proposal?"
Centurius
"To be perfectly honest I do not see what Africa has to gain from lowering the barriers to trade with Japan. As it is the continent is already pretty well capable of sustaining its needs and the Japanese consumer electronic markets are more of a threat than a resource considering many African states have their own consumer electronics industries which would be threatened by cheaper Japanese goods. Besides electronics I must ask what the Japanese economy has to offer Africa that is worth making access to our resources cheaper"
Mogar
"The largest automotive manufacturing base in the world, Honda Toyota, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, Kia, BYD Auto, and multiple other companies, all of which produce highly fuel efficient vehicles, with the majority offering multiple plug in electric and hybrid models." Centurius
"The thing about it is those industries are also developing within Africa already. Opening up our markets to these will risk our own native industries as well as provide you nearly unrestricted access to our mineral wealth. One of the key bargaining chips this continent has"
Mogar
"We'd be using local African corporations, just as we have done with the Great Lakes Republic, Africa would still be receiving more of a net benefit, as we'd be using almost entirely African labor and paying wages, providing health care in nations that do not have nationalized health are, providing retirement plans, and generally treatment that we would provide a citizen of our own nation. We would be prepared to offer Africa potentially trillions of investment with the majority of profits from the investments remaining in Africa, simply for an enhanced ability to access your markets in the fields we have an expertise in. I believe METI could also set up partnerships with our automotive corporations and African automotive corporations if you feel we would have an unfair advantage, we have proven time and time again we wish to cooperate and not subjugate as the Europeans have done to your continent for hundreds of years, remember that Asia went through a similar experience for several hundred years ourselves, so we understand the wariness."
