in the heart of Beograd, the White City of the Serbs, Beli Dvor

Dragojev sighed as he gently laid back the phone onto its cradle, the tip of his digits briefly touching upon the grey casing. He had called ahead to his ally, Queen Catharine Victoria Akinyi the monarch of the Great Lakes Republic, to ensure that both delegations from the Kingdom and Carthage would have an adequate room prepared to stay in for the upcoming negotiations in a week's time along with the conference room to be used for the negotiations. Raising a hand, he rubbed the bridge of his nose as he thought on what might and might not be should the negotiations fail or succeed, the Sovereign knowing very well that he had to bide his time and ensure that his own Kingdom would be ready for whatever may happen.

Kralj Dragojev Belojevic rose from his chair while nodding to his two friends and allies in this endeavor of his, Dražen Cižek and Milenko Božovic, "Inform the staff that we are to prepare for a flight in five day's time, we shall be in route towards our ally in Africa for this conference and I do not want any delays whatsoever," he ordered as Milenko nodded with a lop-sided smile.

"You got it, boss," he said in return before departing from the Kralj's quaint office.

"I do believe I don't have to tell you what is at stake, Dra', since it's quite obvious and clear as day to the point that a brain dead chimp can grasp it," said Dragojev as he approached his Councilor of Foreign Affairs who simply nodded, adopting a grim look.

"Yes, doesn't take much to see it plain as day, Drago," answered Dražen before he continued, "Biding our time is the best option that will benefit the region in the long term."

Dragojev frowned before nodding, "Good to see that we're on the same page, Dra'," he said as the two proceeded to leave his office, to prepare for the coming flight in six day's time.

Once the fifth day had passed, the Yugoslavian delegation would be en-route in late morning on a flight from the capital of the Kingdom to their ally's capital, Nairobi. The trip would take an entirety of eight hours with give or take a few minutes, taking most of the sixth day's with it. The Kralj had taken account the needed time for the trip and had planned accordingly, using the remnants of the sixth day to rest in the spacious rooms his ally had provided for the delegation, knowing that the coming day would be one for the history books.

1 day before the meeting

As Alethea walked into Anysus' office she realized perfectly well the importance of the conference. While this was not the first conference she had been sent to to represent Carthage the result of this one could very much change the balance of power in the Mediterranean for good. As she approached the desk she noticed Anysus had turned towards the window behind it.

"Your Highness, you wanted to speak?" She said, realizing fully well that the presence of guards required some more formality than usual. As soon as she started talking Anysus turned his chair. "Yes, you two are dismissed" He said in the direction of the guards, some matters of state simply required more privacy.

"I just wanted to go over our positions with you to make sure."

Alethea nodded at which point the two would once again discuss the specifics.

That same night she would make her way to Nairobi escorted by Sacred Band and an army of diplomats and other civil servants belonging to one or more of the relevant departments. Once in Nairobi she would make her way to the rooms that had been prepared for them awaiting the start of the conference the next day.

Day of the Conference

Dragojev looked at the building where it would the conference between the Kingdom and Carthage, the Kenyatta International Conference Center, stood tall as a staggering 28-story building located within the central business district of the capital of the Great Lakes Republic, Nairobi.

If he was honest, it was certainly a magnificent building that served appropriately for what most likely occurred within its halls in a daily basis. The motorcade kept trudging along towards the tower-like building, the silence being welcome as the Kralj gathered his thoughts for the coming negotiations, the Sovereign of Yugoslavia and his entourage going through the proper procedures that had interrupted the daily operation of the Center before they were escorted towards the prepared conference room.

As the next day was a fact and the meeting was nearing Alethea looked over the files one last time on her room. After making sure everything was in order she proceeded to move to the transportation their hosts had provided. Of course escorted by Sacred Band and with plenty of aides and lower level diplomats to sit in on the proceedings. As the cars made their way to the conference centre she realized just how much differences there still were between African cities. When the cars finally arrived Alethea made her way to the conference room they had been assigned today. Once inside she immediately noticed the Yugoslav delegation sitting on the other side and proceed to take her own place while aides and diplomats took up the other seats on that side of the table.

Having seen the dignitary from Carthage enter, the Kralj smiled politely in their direction as his own aides sit around him, two maps of the Italian and Greek peninsula in front of him with the Greek peninsula being filled in entirely, scribbles of Cyrillic surrounding the filled-in peninsula.

"Greetings and on behalf of the Kingdom, we would like to thank Carthage in their willingness to undergo these diplomatic negotiations for the betterment of the Italian Peninsula. That being said, we sincerely hope that the trip and subsequent stay within the Great Lakes Republic was enjoyable at the least."

Alethea nodded before turning to the Kralj. "Of course, diplomacy should always be the first option explored and the stay so far has been enjoyable. I do suggest however that we shift to business." She said, as was common for her negotiating style she wasn't a great fan of niceties and the like. "As you most likely realize by now the Empire is of the opinion that due to our alliance with the previous Spartan kingdom and the history of the region that responsibility over Italy should be within the exclusive domain of Carthage while we also believe to be primarily responsible for Greece should it once again shift to anarchy"

"I'm afraid that the Kingdom must disagree with the notion that the Italian Peninsula must be solely within the purview of one country, even when the land was being annexed or attempted by the former Spartan state. The Kingdom borders the Italian Peninsula and we'll be frank, that having a non-European country effectively having soldiers on land bordering the Kingdom has klaxon alarms ringing within the minds of its citizens, as it should be for any country in our rather peculiar position," Dragojev stated before tapping the map of the Italian Peninsula, the portion of Sardinia and Corsica painted in their respective colors with the Cisalpine Republic represented and labelled in Cyrillic. "That said, we believe we can work on a compromise or task force of sorts with the Italian Peninsula to ensure the safety of the Italian citizenry along with having a frank discussion on what it is that both sides desire with regards to the Peninsula in question."

"With regards to the Greek Peninsula, as it stands the Spartan nation is an entirely new concept and being, not allied to anyone and only existing primarily because the Kingdom does not believe in sins of the father as it were. While the name may be a bit 'iffy', the Kingdom must also disagree with the notion that Carthage should have exclusive rights to the Peninsula should the Spartan nation fall once more and anarchy reign when they are not allies to anyone. If that were the case, then each country in this world could claim such a thing for the entirety of the planet," he joked good-naturedly in an attempt to lessen any tension should they be present.

"I fully understand your situation and your dilemma however my instructions for this conference are clear, recognition of the Carthaginian protectorate over Italy and the protectorate claim over Greece. While we are willing to consider giving Yugoslavia an advisory role in this the continued presence of Yugoslav military in Italy is unacceptable to Carthage and will result in a military response"
