Diplomatic Note from Sverige

The Kingdom of Sverige wishes to invite the Kingdom of Prussia to send a diplomat to our nation so that our two nations may begin the process of conducting diplomacy, as well as fostering relations with each other. We are both nations that live on the Baltic Sea, and we believe that we may be able to have favorable agreements between our two Kingdoms. We also are prepared to provide you with a permanent location that would become your Embassy if you wish to maintain a diplomatic mission within our nation.

The Prussian Diplomat would receive a small celebration before being escorted to the Sverige Foreign Ministry. He would be given a small welcome, before being escorted to a conference room where a diplomat would be waiting. She had previous experience with foreign diplomats, and was waiting as the door opened with her hand extended to welcome the man. "Hello, my name is Elsa Mankell, I am the diplomat assigned to conduct diplomacy with you, and it is a pleasure to finally meet one of our Southern Neighbors."

She motioned for him to follow her to the table as she sat with her back towards the wall, as she smiled and leaned forward before speaking up. "Well, the lack of level headed neighbors is really what prompted us to isolationism, but it seems the aggressive military powers seem to be in decline, and stability seems to be returning to Europe, so besides Northlands that reached out to us, and Romania that reached out to us, we decided to reach out to you, since you are another Baltic Sea Kingdom, and we believe that mutual co-operation will be essential for the economic growth and stability of our shared waters."

Taking the seat, Lucas nodded. "Understandable. The best way to avoid the chaos is to keep your head down, though sometimes that is not enough, as we were shown with Brandenburg... Stability is returning, but perhaps slower than we'd like. Too many petty conflicts to rule an unwilling populace... Such is the natural way of things. Sharing friends is always a good start, and we could see a relationship developed with you yet."

She would frown slightly at the mention of petty conflicts, before bringing up the current little crisis concerning France. "Yes it does seem petty little conflicts do seem to catch up to everyone, I must formally apologize to you concerning our recent addition to the ongoing talks concerning France, and the former nation of Snowhaven, whose territories are now in dispute. We would like to assure you and your government that while we have made steps to move aircraft, and are preparing a task force should the need arise, we would wish to avoid a conflict all together. This is a tedious situation, and we have our hands tied, with our Queen hailing from France and being the heir to the French Empire, we have obligations to defend them, their territory, and any claims they may have, through treaties or other means. We are prepared to defend any of our allies, even ones that we do not have mutually binding treaties with. So I do hope you will not hold this against us, and I hope we can work past this so Prussia and Sverige may make its mark on history as friends and allies, laughing about this entire situation later."

Oblivious to the perhaps brashness of his earlier statement, Lucas responded. "We understand, and do not hold that against you. Our beliefs and thoughts have been with Cisalpina, and we will back whatever reasonable resolution that they attempt to pursue. I trust the situation will be settled with zero bloodshed, but one must always be prepared for the worst, in these days."

She would read on a message on her tablet concerning the situation before speaking up again. "It seems our King and the Romanian Delegation has worked out some kind of deal towards the Snow Haven issue. And on another note there really seems to be a degree of warmongering from nations that have suffered on this continent. It seems that the King of Iceland is attempting to blockade our nation, that is largely rather self sufficient, and has access to everything easily to which to run our nation. Anything that might be lost of importance, can be quickly regained through the trade lanes with Muscovy." She would smile before adjusting some of the papers in front of her, and flipping to the next page. "But I suppose we should discuss some of the things you came here for. You are our neighbor to the South of us, and are the next largest Baltic Sea Nation. With that in mind I am sure most of your shipping comes through either the Kiel Canal, or the Danish Straights. The first matter of discussion I suppose should be economic cooperation. We would like to put forward a free trade zone to exist between our nations to allow the import and export of goods from one another without huge fees for importation being placed upon them. Another part of this we would like to bring forward is removing all Sound Toll Fee's for Prussian shipping. This would mean that Prussian ships could pass through the straights at all times for free. As part of that agreement, we would request that Prussia would help support the defense of the Straights, as well as to help enforce blockades against shipping from anyone that we deem does not need to bring their goods, either in, or out, for a reason that both nations would agree upon, as every time a blockade goes up, everyone suffers."

"We would be happy to assist with defence of the straits as well as police them from foreign aggressors. However, before we were to enter a trade agreement with you, we would like a portfolio with details such as your exports, imports, and Purchasing Power Parity relative to our Thaler.". Lucas sighed. "The guys back home are stingy with trade agreements, since it's very easy for them to do more damage than good. We'd be happy to announce a declaration of friendship instead were this to be an economic issue."

She would blink thinking for a second trying to find the proper way to respond to his questions. "Well we are a rather self reliant nation, and any goods that would be attempted to be pushed into your nation are already attempted to be pushed through private enterprises. We have a staunch policy of localization in where we support national industry before moving into others, so most of the stuff we would import would mostly be specialty goods. Obviously anything that would go into your nation from ours would be through private agreements from your business owners and ours, we would just be signing something that would lift the tariffs put into place. We aren't looking to destroy your national economy and industry, we are just looking to allow for private enterprises to have more freedom between each other."
