Article I:

NATO recognizes The International Federation(TIF) as an alliance and vows to respect it's sovereignty. Both alliances recognize the need to keep open communication to maintain a strong and stable relationship, and agree to handle all issues through private channels and conduct bilateral affairs with utmost friendliness.

Article II:
NATO and TIF recognize that economic support is mutually beneficial for both parties. Therefore, priority will be given to each other over non-allied entities. If either signatory engages in political or military conflicts, it is the duty of the other signatory to offer diplomatic support.

Article III:
NATO gives its word to defend TIF through any and all means available, whether militarily, politically, or economically in times of distress. TIF is encouraged, but not required to come to the defense of NATO at any time while this pact is active. Both signatories have the option but not obligation to assist the other in offensive campaigns.

Article IV:
TIF agrees to promptly notify NATO of any pressing matters. TIF accepts NATO's guidance and support, and agrees to discuss all political or military matters prior to taking action.

Sorry SW, i'll try and find some micros for you if I get time later  in compensation >.>

I wasn't referring to TIF...

(Kidding ofc.)

Right...... Good to know.
btw I'm officially cancelling the treaty with GOONS.
Soz GOONS.

So you don't think you owe it to GOONS to, you know, discuss this in private with them before haphazardly announcing it publicly in a thread that has nothing to do with them in the first place? Paper means so little to you guys?

You have much to learn and apparently NATO has much to teach. Best of luck to you both.

It is my fault, more or less. I approached Ash a while ago offering a protectorate and started talks with them. We enrolled a few of their guys into our programs and we were "unofficially" protecting them for a time. Before I stepped back, we were waiting on TIF to organize themselves and make a decision on whether or not to pursue the offer I proposed to them. After I retired I simply lost interest and didn't think to really help close the talks one way or another. The off the books protectorate wasn't meant to be anything more than a temporary measure while talks were ongoing, but I simply didn't have enough drive to keep doing the Secretariat job after years of burn out and as a result I did not see this bit of small business through to its end. I was never very good at delegating responsibility and so Milton wasn't left with a lot of information on the status of TIF since I had been handling the matter personally. Anyways their members that did participate in our program were quite pleased with the results and it was a pleasure to work with them.

Sure it's disappointing that they have decided to go another way but all in all, what they feel is best for them is what they need to do and that is something I had told Ash on several occasions when he wasn't certain about something. It is my understanding that they suggested the NAP agreement to us, though I didn't see it as necessary since we had been economic partners for a month or so but it didn't hurt either party to sign it and it will not hurt either party now that it has been unilaterally canceled. All that aside, I doubt NATO is capable of providing all the hands on help and training I had offered TIF but I suppose they are capable enough to protect a new alliance. Good luck, Ash.

there was (sort of) notice in the form of an IGM. idk who actually logs into CN daily, though, so meh. we accept the changes, but i kind of wonder how a NAP would actually in anyway interfere with this protectorate. oh well, it was a weird thing anyway.

Generally we don't allow our protectorates to hold treaties with other AA's, it's just sort of a rule of thumb.

Yes we probably can't provide all the excellent advise on nation building that the upper tier powerhouse GOONS can, however we can at least stop them from being raided, which is something you guys couldn't even be bothered with :/

I had stepped in on a few occasions to protect them from outsiders, going as far as to send financial and military aid. If Milton felt the ad hoc agreement I made with them no longer suited our interests then he was under absolutely no obligation to do anything about it, and since we had not signed any official deal with them and that TIF had been notified that the measure was indeed very temporary, I don't see the problem here. So let me simplify it for you since you have quite the history of not being able to understand a very easy to follow series of events; They didn't want to be protected by us so they weren't being protected by us any longer because we aren't going to keep an informal arrangement indefinitely while they get their ducks in a row. Seems straight forward enough, but let's go ahead and keep spinning Berbers.

To be completely honest the reason i wasn't able to accept GOONS' protectorate offer was simply because i don't have as much control over my less experienced nations as i would like to have. The nations in my alliance that actually have the slightest clue how to do a simple tech deal were already deeply involved with KoN's tech deal program. The ASN thing was also just a bit to much for me because i need some of my slots available and ASN was taking them all up.

GOONS i appreciate what you did for my alliance during the last few months but this is what is best for my alliance. So it is now time for us to part ways. Hopefully we can stay on good terms with or without a treaty to prove it.

I'm not sure why TIF doesn't recognize nato as an alliance and make that clause mutual.

I actually think it is a proper distinction. NATO is already recognized as a sovereign alliance with its several treaties and general respect for the sovereignty of other alliances. NATO extending recognition of sovereignty to TIF essentially includes it within the boundaries of civilization.

It's nice when alliances understand the old subtleties in today's world.
