Greetings,

As I am currently in Europe visiting the Imperiums friends in France and Snow Haven, I feel I should take the opportunity to reach out to those surrounding my allies in order to discuss a future that ensures a stable and peaceful Africa, as well as ensure the safety of our economic interest in the Suez Canal, as well as your own in the Malacca Strait. If Aidennic Alexandria shares my vision of a peaceful and prosperous Mediterranean and wish to meet with me, send and I shall be there within the hour.

Signed,

-Her Imperial Majesty, Empress Hoshiko, Sovereign of Japan and Joseon, Daughter of Amaterasu, Prophet of Takamagahara, Grand Cordon of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum, Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers, Grand Cordon of the Order of the Precious Crown, Grand Cordon of the Order of the Sacred Treasure.

A handwritten letter from the Bishop of Alexandria, Ioannes Palaiologos, would find its way back to Empress Hoshiko.

Dear Imperial Highness,

It would be an honor to host you in our capitol, Alexandria. A private embassy, with the most impressive of furnishings, shall be prepared for you and any imperial staff that may wish to accompany you. A copy of our airport flight schedules will accompany this letter, so that you may choose the time of your arrival. The embassy shall be prepared in time for your arrival.

I wish you safety in your journeys.

Sincerely,

Ioannes Palaiologos,

Bishop of Alexandria

A reply would be sent and proper notifications sent to allow the SonicStar to hop across the Mediterranean and not have to linger in the air for longer than needed. The Imperial Staff consisted of Osamu Saito, the MoFA of the Imperium, Two bodyguards, and two hand maidens.

OOC: you can skip to meetings or we can admire your city a bit.

Ioannes met with the Japanese minister as he arrived off the plane, with a discreet bow of his head. He held it for a moment before shaking Osamu's hand, greeting him verbally. "It is a pleasure and honor to host you in Alexandria's glorious namesake." He took the time to introduce himself to the Japanese entourage as well, before gesturing towards the vehicle waiting for them. In the front were two clandestine secret service agents on escort duty for Ioannes and the foreigners. Both were conspicuously armed with handguns, and wore bullet proof vests underneath their casual business attire.

"If you don't mind," said Ioannes, as they clambered into the vehicle. "I would like to show you the Taposiris Magna, a ruin site of the city that Alexandria was founded over." The driver started the vehicle, and began their swift, but short, journey to the excavation sites. "Taposiris Magna was the name of both a religious temple, and a city, founded by Ptolemy II. Originally, when Alexandria conquered Egypt, he settled a city: Alexandro, or, as we know it today, Alexandria. Taposiris Magna was founded over the old ruins of Alexandro; eventually, as Taposiris Magna grew, it would be renamed to Alexandria once more."

The car lurched to a stop. Ioannes let himself out, while the driver let the Japanese minister and his aides out. The driver had parked them in an excavator-only parking lot. The group would be able to walk through the excavation sites, and would even be able to enter one site that was almost ready for the public to view. The utmost of care was being taken, not only in preserving the structural integrity of all the ruins, but in preserving any written knowledge down properly, so that the source material isn't ruined.

As the group meandered throughout the excavation zone, passing archaeologists hard at work digging up the ruins, Ioannes gave a small tour. "Today, the ruins of Taposiris Magna are being excavated by the Church. It is the Church's belief that knowledge of men who came before us is imperative to preserve. As you can see," said Ioannes, waving his hand through the air slowly, gesturing towards the roped off sections of the ruins, "there are still many secrets that this ancient Egyptian Holy Site can tell us." He smiled mischievously.

Ioannes asked one of the secret service to watch over the Japanese aides, while Osamu and Ioannes took a stroll through the excavation zone. "Sadly, we both know that you did not come here to be shown Taposiris Magna. The Imperium wishes to conduct diplomacy with Alexandria; what does it have in mind?" he questioned.

The Empress was impressed by the scale of the Ruins, "I support the belief that preserving history for future generations to learn from is of vital importance. I may not have come here just to see Taposiris Magna but it certainly shows we have similar beliefs when it comes to history." She paused for a moment, her gaze stuck on the excavation site before returning to Ioannes, "It goes without saying that working with Alexandria is a priority to anyone from Asia interested in Europe due to the control of the Suez Canal, The Imperium also had a need to expand its economic partners to maintain the growth that we have been experiencing since our recovery efforts have started. The Imperium also has a strategic interest in maintaining a stable Mediterranean, in order to keep France and Snow Haven secure, since the Imperium is almost halfway across the world from these allies, I have realized the importance to working with those surrounding them preemptively to keep the peace."

The Aidennic listened to the Empress' proposal. "I must stress to you that, as the unbiased administrator of the Suez, we can not give any preferential treatment, when it comes to your shipping routes through the canal. In addition, I do not believe that, militarily, much can be done, either, as Alexandria is but a small regional, if that, military power. It would be illogical for us to attempt to assist another nation that doesn't operate out of our immediate surroundings," he said melancholic.
