Fear not, as the Italian Republic has not fallen, but been renewed with vigor. In the city of Milan, the provinces and communities of Lombardia, Piemonte, Liguria, Valle d'Aosta, Emilia Romagna, Toscana, Sardegna, Umbria, Marche, and Lazio have agreed to remain unified and press forward into the future. I, Doge Hereno d'Bologna of Milan, hereby issue a personal request to all nations of Europe to refrain from meddling in the affairs of the Italian people during these trying times. We do not intend to allow a minority of separatists to destroy Italian unity, and warn opportunists looking to capitalize on the political situation in our country that order is being rapidly restored thanks to our efforts. We welcome Italy and offer a start of diplomatic relations between our nations. Peacekeepers sent to maintain order in Sardinia are being withdrawn. It is not our intent to meddle, but to guarantee their right to self-determination. While we hold claims to all of Italy as its successor Republic, the Venetians and Sicilians have chosen not to follow us forward, and we respect their wishes. Unprovoked aggression against these peoples, however, it not acceptable to us, and we are unaware of any current legitimate claims to any of the former Italian lands by any other sovereigns in the world other than their current stewards. Alexandria would like to inquire as to the Aidennist Bethgan currently within Rome. Will it be allowed to continue its congregational duties? Is there any reason why it would not be? While we are forced to re-negotiate any previous diplomatic ties due to the refounding of our government, it is not our intent to transgress against the freedom of religion within our borders. Simply send word of your intentions and we will visit you at your new embassy. All of those who have or have not wished us well are free to (re-)establish relations. We are a bit saddened to know that the Venetians refused the offer of cultural unity and we'd welcome discussions to talk of the situation regarding North-eastern Italy with the Milan Republic."
