Private to Tikal

Our President, Jean Hollande, and several members within congress would like to invite delegates from Tikal to the capital city of Cayenne to discuss a possibly military pact between our two countries. Although French Guiana will never be a significant military power, we are committed to defending South American territories from outside forces. A signed document would hopefully make foreign powers think twice about colonizing the American region.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Louis Butler, Head of Foreign Affairs

When the Tikal officials arrived a fleet of limousines would await them along with a escort of police that would take them to the Presidential palace where President Hollande and Louis Butler would await them. A five star hotel by the beach would accommodate them as well as a week of all paid expense vacation for the delegates after the meeting concluded in order to show good will.

Topic: Re: Diplomatic meeting

Body:

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Unfortunately neither the Prince nor the Princess can travel abroad at this time due to important internal matters.

However, I will be free to meet with you. I will arrive in 3 days in a Concorde in your capital, Cayenne, together with two personal guards.

By the authority vested in me by Their Sublime Highnesses

Director of Diplomacy,

Clemente Marroquín Rojas

Principality of Tikal

The arrival was timely on the third day after the reply was sent. Whether he would take his hosts up on the vacation, Clemente had not yet decided, but he would reimburse them if he didn't take them up on the offer. As Director of Diplomacy, he was rather busy, after all.

In the Palace, he would greet his hosts with a smile and a firm hand-shake, if offered.

"President Hollande, Mr. Butler, thank you very much for inviting me to your beautiful nation."

President Hollande stepped forward and shook Rojas hand smiling back, "welcome to French Guiana, I hope your trip was pleasant". Mr. Butler shook the directors hand as well rather excitingly. The President led the small group to a large room with a long table at the middle with several documents. A young woman with blonde hair next to a laptop was already in the room, she stood up and greeted the director, "this is Ms. Moulin she will be recording the meeting for our archives and to send back to your superiors" after greetings were exchanged the delegates sat at the table. Hollande started off by sliding one of the documents toward Rojas, "this Mr. Rojas, is why we are here"

In the document were photos of ships and infantry of the Baffin islands in Rio, "these were taken by a local photographer, foreign forces with no right to those lands encroaching beyond their need. I believe it is time for our countries to commit resources to protecting South America from foreign colonization and to defend each other during times of conflict."

Rojas looked through the photos for a few moments, nodding once or twice. Once finished, he placed the images back into the folder, sliding that back to Hollande afterwards.

"Mr. President, as you may know, Tikal already is committed to defending the Americas from outside aggression. Most of the world has come to call this the 'Monroe Doctrine', the same as what the United States pursued in the 19th and early 20th century. However, what Baffin Island did is unprecedented. Never before did we have to protect American territory from an American nation." He shook his head, truly baffled what Baffin Island had wanted there, half a world away from their home.

"Now, to make it short, Tikal would be honoured to sign a document committing both of our nations to the defence of South America not just from foreign colonisers, but also aggression from North America."

President Hollande clapped his hands in excitement, "wonderful, we shall have the documents brought up and signed after review". He signaled toward Mr. Butler who grabbed the treaty. The main focal points of the treaty entailed that both nations shall respect and recognize the others sovereignty, both nations will commit resources and military forces in the defense of South American nations under attack from foreign forces. The Monroe doctrine will be upheld in French Guiana.

Hollande put his signature on the treaty and handed the pen to Rajos.

With that the treaty would go into effect, President Hollande led his guest back to the entrance of the Presidential palace. "Oh before I forget, there's still the week of all paid vacation for you and your associates here in Cayenne, enjoy yourselves and tell the prince and princess I said hello I had the pleasure of meeting them before" with that Hollande shook Rojas hand and walked him out to the limo.

"Thank you, Mr. President. And I certainly will relay your greetings."

In that moment, the DoD decided 'why the hell not' and spent the next week on early vacation. He could catch up on his duties later. That would be Future-Rojas' problem.
