Malatose
The southern tip of Africa was still wrecked with constant anarchy and turmoil. Thousands lived in fear of rebel groups, who raped and pillaged as pleased. Thousands more lived in poverty, not knowing where their next meal was coming from. This resulted in hundreds of riots, which wrecked the area on a constant basis. In Pretoria, the South African Capital, an emergency meeting was held to decide on the future of Southern Africa. Three hundred representatives (the basis of the future Draka Parliament) from Angola, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, and Madagascar meet to discuss the future. After much deliberation, all representatives come to a conclusion that a unified state must be established in order to push the nation into the future. Johan Van Rensburg, a popular official from South Africa who coined the term "Unity is Strength", is elected to lead the unified state. Despite being appointed by the Draka Parliament, Van Rensburg decides to hold an emergency plebiscite among the population, which overwhelmingly elects him to the position of Archon. Within days, the Archon of the Dominion of Draka declared the existence of the Dominion. Citizens of the world, Today marks a new day in Africa. After many years of struggle, the states of Citizens of the world, Today marks a new day in Africa. After many years of struggle, the states of Angola, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, and Madagascar have combined to form the Dominion of Draka. Our state will strive to provide the basic necessities for life, and we will work to become an active member of the international community. Today, the people of Draka walk forward, joyful of the future.

I would like to personally invite Draka to send an envoy to Alexandria, our capitol and capital city, to discuss mutual relations between our states," -Ioannes Palaiologos, Bishop of Alexandria

The Baltic Union echos the Bear Islands' Nation of Bear's statement. "While literature is certainly a source to find structure following the great war and collapse, some sources are stranger than others to use." Kevin Kingswell
The Confederated States of Russia find it a little worrying that some nations seem to base their initial thoughts on a nation on a nation's name from some literature than by said nation's actual actions and words. Hopefully this is not the case. Either way the Confederated States of Russia welcomes the rise of the Dominion of Draka and looks forward to opening successful diplomatic relations in the future. "If we were to call our nation the Land of Oz, would it not be worrying that we are naming ourselves after a fictional land of talking lions and water-soluble witches? The name chosen is part of a nation's actions and words; it is the very first impression a nation can give to a foreign body."

"No, we would be demanding your leadership shared whatever they were smoking. A cause for concern however it would not be. By your interpretation of the importance of a name I am sure you then would oppose anyone creating Transylvania for the risk of them supporting vampires or any one state starting an empire in Germany due to the use of the name by a horrible government that actually existed. The Kingdom of Carthage for one welcomes Draka to Africa and will judge it based on its actions and not its name." OOC: Let's not make a mountain out of a molehill, mkay? "Transylvania is a name for an actual region, we wouldn't assume anything vampiric about the nation. Similar to how if a nation in the Czech region named itself the Kingdom of Bohemia, we would not assume it was a nation of wanders and vagabonds. Should a fascist, ultra-nationalist nation rise in Germany and call itself the 4th Reich, we would take equal issue with its name. We stand by our assertion that names have meaning. Of course, we would be happy to be proven wrong and see this nation of Draka to show itself as a democratic and progressive nation." OOC: OOC requests will not change IC policy. It's called separation of IC/OOC.
Markus Wilding
"Alvonia refuses to recognize these ultranationalists and will consider any political leader claiming to be from "Draka" to be an ultranationalist terrorist, and will arrest them on sight. Any plane or ship claiming to be of Drakan origin will be asked to surrender and fired upon if it fails to do so. Any group claiming to be of the Drakan military will be considered a terrorist and arrested if unarmed, shot on sight if armed." - Director Markus Wilding
Yerushalayim
The Republic welcomes a return of order in southern Africa. We hope that the Dominion will prove to value the ideals of Pan Africanism, and will join the fight against non-native African influences upon the continent.
