Due to the recent tensions between Alvonia and the CDT, the government has ordered that Alvonian tourists and other people coming from Alvonia or related to Alvonia be given tighter security checks at the airport, and be watched more closely by the KGB. Military alert levels would be risen, and the army and the airforce would be prepared to assist Belarus' allies, and the number of fighters patrolling the countries airspace would be doubled. Outwardly, everything would continue to appear to be normal, and the visitors wouldn't notice a thing, but within the dark halls of government, worries are growing, and tensions are high.

For many people, it is that time of the year again, as 340,230 policemen and reservists set out for their week-long military training. The training is held every three months, and is very rigorous, and, as some say, even more rigorous than actual military training. It does not come without its perks though. Reservists are given the highest priority in the State Welfare System, and are looked up to and respected in society. All of them are between the ages of 21 and 30, and many of them spent time in the military or police force. While reservists aren't given the specialized training given to actual troops, they are generally able to hold their own against professional soldiers. As one trainer puts it "They may not be the Spetsnaz, but they can hold a position against proffesionals and fire a rifle."

The government has deemed it necessary to place all possible Social Sovereignty influences under restriction. This shall be done in the utmost secrecy, as groups beloved to be sympathizing with SOCSOV shall be put under watch by the KGB, and their publications shall be kept of the government owned radio and news. This move is mainly being undertaken due to the fall of Greater Russia to a SOCSOV government, and the fear that Russians and Belarussians who feel that they have a kinship with Greater Russia may seek to follow their lead. No public actions would be taken, and no one would notice a thing.

The government has announced that all Belarusian citizens are henceforth banned from travel to Hawaii or any of its holdings abroad. All Belarusian flights to Hawaii have been stopped, and any Belarusian citizens who violate this ban shall be detained and prosecuted upon arrival. Hawaiian citizens may continue to visit Belarus, and, if they wish it, be granted refugee status, pending a thorough background check to see what their involvement in SOCSOV was.

The military has begun construction on a nationwide S-300PMU-2 Favorit missile defense system. The S-300PMU-2 Favorit can engage targets flying from 10 m to 27 km above the surface at a speed of up to 10,000 km/h. It is capable against short and medium range ballistic missiles and has a range of 195 km. Whithin a few months, the military is expected to have developed enough of these to cover the entire country. In addition to this, the military is developing 120 9K22 Tunguska anti-aircraft systems. These systems are entirely mobile, and can be used to defend troops from helicopters and aircraft.

The Ministry of Economy has released a report on the general state of Belarus' economic sectors. We at Pravda bring you a short summary of the current situation in  the main economic sectors of the country.

Industry - Industry is one of the biggest sectors of the economy. Belarus specializes in cheap, easy to maintain, and durable machinery, and manufactures automobiles, mechanical parts, construction materials, consumer goods, chemicals, and various other miscellaneous items. Belarus also builds agricultural equipment. Energy output is meant specifically for domestic needs.

Mining - Belarus has various natural resources that can be mined, and the mining industry in Belarus is of a decent size, although many of resources mined are too sparse to export, and are only sent to domestic markets.

Defense - Belarus' defense industry mainly concerns itself with maintaining the equipment of the Belarusian Military, and supplying it with ammunition. It als occasionally adds to its arsenal, but currently lacks foreign contracts.

Banking - All banks are owned by the government, and mainly operate within Belarus.

Agriculture is a major component in the economy. Belarus can be divided into three agricultural regions: north (flax, fodder, grasses, and cattle), central (potatoes and pigs), and south (pastureland, hemp, and cattle). Belarus' cool climate and dense soil are well suited to fodder crops, which support herds of cattle and pigs, and temperate-zone crops (wheat, barley, oats, buckwheat, potatoes, flax, and sugar beets). Belarus' soils are generally fertile, especially in the river valleys, except in the southern marshy regions.

Tourism - A very minor component of the economy. Belarus, despite its scenic landscape, only receives a few dumb westerners honored guests. Most visitors are merely passing through to other countries.

Quite some time has gone by since the collapse of the Ukraine, and it has become increasingly evident the the Ukraine will not become a state again for quite some time. For this reason, the government has announced a belated day of mourning for our former ally. All flags have been lowered to half staff, and businesses and schools have been closed for the day.

Due to increasing threats on our borders, the President Lukachenko has secretly authorized research into the creation of a chemical weapons stockpile, as well as the means to deliver those weapons. The project is top secret, and only a small handful of high level government and military officials, along with the researchers themselves, know of it.
