Diplomatic Note from Sverige

The Kingdom of Sverige must respectfully decline your invitation to sign on your treaty militarily, or economically. We were not invited to the discussions for the formation of this Pact, and you currently host a nation that was recently at war with Sverige on your Defense Council. Thank you for the offer however, and we wish you the best of luck with your venture.

"What of Frances view that perhaps the regulations should be altered as suggested by the Baltic Union. Perhaps it should be time to open the doors a little wider to include the Med, as it does share common and intwined history with Europe."

The slippery slope argument is not a real argument. We are reasonable people capable of discussing the merits of individual ideas. Should the question of including all of Africa ever seriously be raised, I would gladly discuss the matter, and weigh the benefits verses what I feel are the principles of this body. Right now, I feel the inclusion of entire other continents is unnecessary and unwise.
However, the Mediterranean sea has been essential to Europe. The Greeks and Romans, both considered European, were far more centred on the Mediterranean than the actual landmass of Europe. Algeria was long considered a natural extension of France. Both the Byzantines and Ottomans extended into the middle east. Even the Vikings of Scandinavia followed Assyrian silver down the Don and Volga. To deny the importance of the nations of the Mediterranean to Europe, is to deny fact.

Private to Members:

I believe we have two discussions that need to be made; The first on the possibility of expanding the territorial mandate of the pact to encompass the Mediterranean. Secondly, I believe it would be appropriate to begin the vote on France's security member status, as the determined amount of time has passed.

We vote yes on admitting France as a security member.

As the charter is currently written, Alexandria is not eligible to be admitted to the European Community. First, an amendment to the charter would have to be proposed and approved, before the admission process of Alexandria could proceed. Thus the Northlands views the current votes for and against Alexandria as premature.

The Northlands has had no negative incidents with Aidennic Alexandria and our relations thus far have been cordial. However before an amendment to allow Mediterranean nations to join is proposed, we feel it is prudent to question whether having a nation that is geographically part of Africa would benefit the Community. Africa is known for its Africa-first policies and this could raise a serious conflict of interests should an incident occur involving both continents. How would Alexandria act if it were part of this treaty as well as supranational African one. Would it place one at a higher priority? As such we are neither withdrawing or providing support for their request until we better understand their motives and commitment.

"The Ukraine votes yes towards the Alexandria Acceptance. You may look at it as being a European Only pact, but The Ukraine looks at this decision with Europe's Interest at heart. We believe this pact to be for the best of Europe, not a tree house to say 'Whites Europeans Only Here'. The benefits of Alexandria accepting this pact would be astounding for Europe. As a part of the Economic Agreement, Alexandria would most likely lower or abolish fees for moving through the Suez. This would benefit all of our economies greatly. The resources Alexandria has  as a desert nation are many that cannot be found in Europe. The peaceful and general intent of Alexandria is one we can only look up to.

This pact is not only good for Europe, but Alexandria gets benefits as well. They gain optional defense status with most of Europe, a Non-Agression pact with our nations, and economic trade enhancements from all of us. For us to look at Alexandria and say: 'We do not wish to sign a treaty to benefit both of our economies. Nor we do we wish to form a bond to prevent aggression between us because you are a little ways outside of Europe' would not be ethical in The Ukraine's eyes. It is for these reasons that The Ukraine votes Yes on Alexandria's acceptance."

Premier Svetlana's speech would go on national television and would be applauded as one of her best speeches in The Ukraine to this date.
