OOC: Kamchatka 7 of 7

Hokubushū, would be officially named Aisu-shō, The Ice province, with Sunōichi becoming its capital. Already a large province it was underpopulated, and its location along with the fall of Alaska had left the Imperium without eyes covering the Bering Strait, the Commander Islands would be landed upon, its native Russians would not notice a change.

My Dear Friend Shana'Kin Yaxchel Ik'nal,
It feels as though we are only in communication when a problem faces us, and you will forever hold our sincerest gratitude for your friendship towards us. Fortunately this time I write offering good news to our original intentions of securing the Pacific Ocean. With the addition of Kamchatka to the Imperium and the fall of Alaska, we can begin work upon a Pacific SOSUS line, surrounding all entrances to our shared body of water and ensuring that there is no one able to escape our watchful protection into our waters. We can begin work immediately, I simply wanted to write to you and further cement the grand vision we shared so long ago. Mainly, your own requirements will be to the Aleutian Islands. I will be entering discussions with New Zealand as an additional partner, unless you have a better suggestion as to the southeastern border.

May the Sun shine down forever upon our nations,
-Her Imperial Majesty,
Empress Hoshiko of Japan and Joseon, Daughter of Amaterasu, Prophet of Takamagahara, Grand Cordon of the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum, Grand Cordon of the Order of the Paulownia Flowers, Grand Cordon of the Order of the Precious Crown, Grand Cordon of the Order of the Sacred Treasure

The recent blockade of Imperium vessels would not go unnoticed, but rather than simply wait around for the Persians to decide they have waggled what lay between their legs enough at the Imperium, all of those vessels originally destined for Europe were re-purposed, Sumatra would be transformed into a fortress. The Type 94 naval gun has served Japan for the longest of any weapon, and it was decided that the approximately 120 that were embedded throughout the Malaysian Economic Zone were simply not enough, the decision was made to quadruple the gun emplacements at the minimum, including upon additional islands in Indonesia. While not originally part of the Imperium's defensive strategy, additional defenses would be required in the Sunda Strait, Gaspar Strait, and the Karimata Strait.

Bunkers with the massive guns would be constructed at a rapid pace throughout the Malaysian Economic Zone, the Imperium still fully tooled for war manufacturing, and the recent attack by the Nords giving much reason to expand the military output even further. Belitung and Bangka Island would be turned into fortresses, the local population being used for the general construction projects. Furthermore, several hundred MIM-104F Patriot launching equipment was kept on rotation upon the island, no unit remaining in the same spot for more than 21 days. Rotations would be made randomly from 7 to 21 days, as decided by Imperium Military Command. The Patriot would be complimented with KM-SAM systems as well, to provide multilayer coverage for both Anti Ballistic Missile and Anti Air capability.

Soon, the entire Malay Economic Zone would become a symbol of the Imperium's strength, the massive artillery pieces on either side would occasionally be visible to passing ships, and building such bunkers would be difficult to hide in a place with such high traffic area, so there was no attempt hiding the construction of the fortifications.

Of course any Persian vessels attempted to cross the Malay Economic Zone would be stopped in response to their Blockade against the Imperium, but it was likely Persia magically required no trade with the 1.7 Billion People in Asia, or the billion living in the Americas.

1/7 Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Putrajaya, Selangor

The Malaysian protectorate was already will integrated into the Siak Republic's economy, the most notable additions came in the form of an increased military precense upon the western coastline, Malacca City would be transformed, the Imperium having a very particular style, and there was no region of their grasp that would be left uninfluenced. Education was another key part of the integration into the Imperium, multilingual teachers from the other parts of the Imperium were in high demand, and MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) would find itself in short supply, the career path now one of high priority, more than a few teenagers who didn't know what to do with their life were prodded into the job within the Imperium proper.

1/7 Kuala Lumpur, Pahan, Perak, Terenggamu, Kelanta

Rubber and Tin were the resources of this region, and they were exploited to the maximum extent they could sustain, the Imperium's resources potentially cut off for a lengthy period of time depending on Persia. Like everywhere else in the Imperium's Peninsular additions Education was a priority, as well as fiber optic internet service. The Imperium was a highly technologically advanced society, and in order to truly feel as though they belonged they would need to be able to see the wonders of the Imperium culture in High Definition. Faster, Faster, Faster.

1/7 Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Songkhla, Satun, Phattalung

Penang was a natural addition to the Imperium, it's high technology manufacturing based economy finding plenty of use in the Imperium. There was still some concerns of islamic extremists in the region, but Imperium forces were given strict orders to not harass anyone unless absolutely needed, they were guests in the region and it would be awful publicity to accidentally harass the wrong guy and get a jihad declared upon them.

1/7 Everything else

The entire western coastline of the Malay Peninsula was turned into a Fortress, Four separate OTH-B systems were begun construction, along with two OTH-SW systems, aimed majorly to the northwest and west, gun emplacements along with Anti aircraft weaponry were constructed along the coastline, providing for the ability to launch heavy artillery shells into the Malaccan strait and Andaman Sea if required.

As soon as Japan would try to move north they'd hit Druk Yul troops at the border. The SEATO Malay protection force would inquire with Japan why it was moving beyond its existing borders on the Peninsula. (You might want to check the Map thread.)

They'd also be curious as to why they're moving so much artillery.

Imperium forces would in fact be nowhere near the Druk Yul troops, however a simply reply would be given as to the reasoning for the heavy construction in the region.

"We've been here for quite a while in fact, we're just completing integration process, and due to recent actions by other nations towards us in regards to the Malay Economic Zone, and our policy of not allowing nations without formal treaties with us passage into our intimate waters, We feel that further defenses are required to make anyone reconsider forcing our hand in regards to our defense of Singapore, as the capital of the Siak Republic, ensuring such a city's safety during times of war is our utmost security. The nations of the world have not proven themselves to be trusted, in fact your nation had recently assisting in dealing with one such hostile nation towards the Imperium with no prior provocation."

A copy of the map for the Malay Economic Zone would be provided.

PCmVirg.png

"As you can see, our claims extend to your border, and we are simply reinforcing our part of the Malay Pennisula, as the Persians have been quite threatening towards us, demanding we allow them passage within such close proximity to the Siak Republic's capital, and then enacting an embargo against us, cutting off our main trade routes with Europe, we have valid reasons to grow wary of allowing the strategic waterway that the Malay Economic Zone represents to ever slip from our grasp."

OOC: If you'd like, I will change my mind and be a brat and simply have annexed it all instantly and then go NEENER NEENER YOU CANT STOP ME, or, you could be respectful of the fact I chose to be mature about the situation and further prove that it was merely a miscount upon my own part and not any malicious intention to annex such a swath of land without strictly following the rules, and in respect to the new rules provide the community with an example of exactly what some people were asking the rule to be treated as.

"Your claims on the tip of the peninsula should be sufficient to your needs. The Thai people have not expressed a wish to be under your rule and we will continue to protect them and keep them from being colonized. This protectorate was declared several weeks ago and you should have known about our presence. We're sorry if you missed the information. Unfortunately at this time we are not authorized to let you expand further without the expressed will of the Thai people."

The soldier would hand them the [post='3295909']articles of protection as issued by SEATO.[/post]

However.. the soldier would compare maps. "It appears the map of the old Japanese protectorate is out of order." He looked back to them. "We'll pull back. Tell your cartographers to be more careful about the information they deliver us. We're moving out." He whistled and then made a circle motion in the air with his fingers and the troops and tanks began to mobilize and pull north.

ooc: Afraid you cannot annex the land with my troops already present. I'm already there.

2/7 Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Putrajaya, Selangor

Malacca would be built up, the namesake of strategic waterway needed to be built to represent the Imperium's belief in the importance of the region. likewise the surrounding areas would continue to be incorporated into the Imperium, the higher education standards putting some students behind, additional teachers would be sent to the region to further assist them.

2/7 Kuala Lumpur, Pahan, Perak, Terenggamu, Kelanta

The internet construction continued, the western Malay beaches changing rapidly to appear far closer to WWII France than paradise, but such was the world the Imperium lived in, enemies on all sides without any interest in maintaining the peace and stability.

2/7 Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Songkhla, Satun, Phattalung

Consumer electronics factories were retooled slightly, now constructing military hardware, nearly everything in the Imperium's arsenal required electronics and their factories had continued churning out military equipment at a rapid pace,

2/7 Everything else

Increased patrols were made upon the Malaccan Strait after the Persian threat. all they could do is simply wait, The Imperium had been cooperative with the African nations, and it appeared the Persians wished to further force the Imperium into a corner.

OOC: 6 of 7 Christmas Island

The Imperium presence upon the island would be heavily reinforced, A defense strategy being acted upon after the threats to force the Imperium off the Islands, which had been under Imperium control for years now, and had a cultural and ethnic link to an East Asian nation over a Middle Eastern one. ADAM and RAAMS munitions would be sent to the island for use in the 120 Type 99 155 mm self-propelled howitzers upon the island, further armor was flown to the island, including 36 Type 88 SSM trucks, 36 MIM-104F Patriot Missile platforms, both with their required auxiliary equipment and plenty of ammunition. Additionally several dozen Mitsubishi Insitu ScanEagles to allow for early warning and to scout for the missile systems upon the island. 120 Type 10 Tanks would compliment the 8,000 Marines based upon the island, MANPADs and other assorted military equipment would continuously be ferried to help the marines. it was not a massive force but the size of the island prevented an extensive defense. Civilians were offered the chance to evacuate the Island if they chose, but the majority would stay, this was their home and no one, Japanese or Persian, would convince them to leave.

Dear Empress,

This Island is not in the Pacific Region. The Indian Ocean Comission has requested you vacate it. You asking the civilian population to leave their homes so that you can conduct a military buildup and further expand your empire does not show strength. It shows you are afraid. The bolder step would to be content with what you already have.

Please, think about what you are doing. If you sincerely want peace.. return these peoples to their homes and leave them in peace.

Regards,

King Wangchuck

Dear King Wangchuck,

The Imperium has been in the East Indian Ocean for longer than any other nation on the planet has existed, I have not seen any other member of the Indian Ocean Commission besides the one who feels wronged by us not allowing their military fleet near our capital after they moved aggressively into our waters, with jamming and other offensive equipment running. If Persia had wished to work out any grievances diplomatically they would do so. We have shown a willingness to work with everyone that surrounds us, including your own nation upon multiple crises that struck Asia, the Persians have no interest in doing anything but using the IOC as a method of punishing the Imperium even further.

The remaining members of the IOC are African nations we had worked with in order to ensure that the Imperium is no hostile towards the nations in the Indian Ocean, and wishes to cooperate with them in order to maintain security, just as the Imperium works with Tikal and the Pacific Rim to ensure the safety of that Ocean. If Persia genuinely believes us to be a threat towards them, then they should speak to us diplomatically and we will resolve any disagreements, since we have received nothing but hostility from them, I find it unlikely that such will occur.

May the Gods favor us all in these interesting times,

Empress Hoshiko

Dear Empress,

Given neither of you would even allow me to mediate a solution to the Malacca incident, I find it dubious either of you would approach the other directly on the matter. But if you want this defused.. it's your sovereignty, I can't do it for you.

King Wangchuck

Dear King Wangchuck,

We would welcome such mediation, but it would be rather pointless to sit in a room with only you and I in order to resolve a dispute with Persia, diplomacy must be a two way street and there has not been an attempt by the Persians at doing so with us, even when we specifically had sent them a request to contact my Foreign Affairs department to allow for access through the Malacca Strait. There is no one else in this world who could know the true weight of conflicts and how the casual deaths of civilians are so easily forgotten in this world. I already must live with hundreds of millions of deaths upon my shoulders.

Persia is asking me to abandon people I have protected for decades, and further cede territory to a them, when they refuse to resolve their grievances with the Imperium. We have offered to join the Indian Ocean Commission, since regardless of whether or not we control Christmas Island, Sumatra will always be in the Indian Ocean, the Malaccan will always be attached to the Indian Ocean, and we are not going to be abandoning those who wish to be a part of our nation. You wish to see peace? it is not us who are trying to start a war but Persia through threats and provocation, if you believe you can get them to sit down to a table then we will send a representative to such a meeting, if not then we must prepare to defend ourselves and our people.

-Empress Hoshiko

Protests across the Imperium, the majority in the territories outside of the Home Islands reached their second day, it was difficult to keep people working without any ability to sell their goods to most of the markets to the world, using the Northwest passage had ensured the steady flow of goods to Europe, but the northern waters were slower going than the traditional route, and that additional time was costing the Imperium corporations billions.

2/7 Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Putrajaya, Selangor

Malacca City had been transformed, the coastal city turned fortress, massive armored walls surrounding it now. Surveillance continued upon the heavily Islamic population, especially in Seremban, having been a hotspot for the Islamic extremists that had taken control of the region previously. The carrot the Imperium had offered was in the form of additional education, turning the religion into simply a secondary belief system over a more extreme view that the Qur'an had to be followed to the letter.
tumblr_n8kjrawCwf1qer734o1_1280.jpg
Malacca City

Putrajaya like Malacca City had found itself transformed under the Imperium's control, the construction assisting in the strangled economy to keep some at work at least, Putrajaya was expected to become the Admistrative center of the mainland Siak Republic, and the Imperium wished to see it given an aesthetic that fit the Imperium's new culture.
epocholis_by_jonasdero-d4ca97z.jpg
Selangor would continue it's fortification, the Imperium not wanting to take any chance of an attack against it being without heavy cost from opponents, cashes of weaponry would be stored further inland. the massive bunker emplacements to hold the 18 inch guns would continue their construction, beaches would be carefully mapped and plans of proper defense of the coastline would be drawn up, allowing for a rapid deployment of mines and other defensive weapons in the best locations for beachheads, ensuring that with even short notice the Imperium would be ready.

2/7 Kuala Lumpur, Pahan, Perak, Terenggamu, Kelanta

Kuala Lumpur, an economic giant in the region by itself, was given special treatment, while Putrajaya would be heavily influenced by the Imperium's culture,

Pahan was left mostly untouched, the nature preserves maintained. The region would experience a growth in vacationers to the area, there were a half billion people in the Imperium and most of them spent their lives surrounded by steel and concrete, they liked to be able to experience what life was like before urbanization.

Perak's automobile industry would be revived, the Proton corporation assisted by multiple Zaibatsu to ensure it was able to produce vehicles once more. Of course their motives were not entirely altruistic, in fact forced by METI to do so to ensure fair and stable competition in the Imperium, especially non Japanese corporations to further prove the Pan Asian nationalism to the Imperium citizens, no one was above anyone else.

In Terenggamu, the Empress personally requested that there be a complex devoted to Islam constructed in Kuala Terengganu, while not a personal believer there was a merit in all religions to her, and so Tempat Allah was constructed upon the cities outskirts, the massive complex of Mosques unlike anything else in the Muslim world. Of course, it wasn't entirely without Imperium touches, but there would not be many complaints.
heritagewebsite_by_iancjw-d7u1bg4.jpg

Kelanta: Fortunately for the Imperium, there was no longer a Petronas corporation to have to deal with, and JAPEX moved in to pick up the slack in oil exploration, signing a similar contract to the one Petronas held with the province, 5% of the oil profits would be given to the province in exchange for JAPEX having exclusive rights in the region. Of particular importance to the Imperium was advertising the region's Siti Khadijah Market, named after Prophet Muhammad's entrepreneurial wife, the market mostly run by women was given special attention, the Imperium was run by a woman and female equality was a core tenant of ensuring that Islam and the Imperium were able to get along in the future.

2/7 Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Songkhla, Satun, Phattalung

Penang island was already incredibly technologically advanced, all that was done was add a certain Imperium aesthetic to the city, which was rather easy, almost naturally fitting the role.
electric_rain_by_unfor54k3n-d3abylb.jpg
Kedah was Malaysia's largest producer of rice and other foodstuffs, accounting for over half the nation's production, it was decided by the Imperium to keep things the way they were, with financial assistance being offered to farmers to ensure they continued to stay there and not leave to more urbanized areas, providing fiber optic internet was a priority for the region, as well as ensuring the local stores had everything you would find in a city.

Perlis likewise was left untouched, but more because there was nothing to exploit in the region, it would be given the same level of internet and accessabilty as anywhere else but left alone besides that.

Narathiwat was majority Muslim, and ethnically Malay. Before the fall the province was likely to have broken away and would be treated by the Siak Republic as Malay over Thai,

Yala was majority farmland, and majority muslim, it would be treated similar to Kedah, with economic benefits for farmers to continuing producing the province's bumper crops of Shogun oranges and Saba bananas.

Pattani was majority Muslim and Malay as well, and the open borders with Malaysia would ensure their ability to visit places of worship would not be hindered. An OTH-SW would begin construction in the province to watch the South China Sea from another angle.

Songkhla was a popular tourist province, and not one to miss an opportunity, A full length animated film based upon the popular local legend of a cat a mouse and a dog traveling upon a chinese ship was created, adding in the mermaid which had a statue for it in the area. It would take some time for the feature to be produced, but it was expected to both turn a nice profit and raise up the tourism in the area significantly.

Satun would return to its original name, Setul, another province popular for tourism, the Imperium would unfortunately require it's beached to be marred by the heavy artillery platforms being constructed along the coastline, particular care was taken to ensure they did not disturb the local beaches much, but like in other provinces, plans were made to ensure that any invasion would be able to be defended and the beach turned into a warzone upon a moments notice, with the ideal beach heads receiving a military presence and caches, area denial weapons most importantly.

Phattalung was on the east coast of the Malay Peninsula and therefore was left mostly untouched to allow tourism to flourish in the region.

2/7 Everything else

Phuket would be given basically all of the money to turn it into a northern SIngapore, it's location providing ample trade with Druk Yul, Africa, and beyond once the blockade was lifted upon the Imperium.

The remaining western provinces would be fortified to the same specifications as the rest of the Malaccan.

Kazuko was at a loss of what her next move was, Persia still ignoring their requests at diplomacy, and the rest of the IOC silent upon the economic stranglehold Persia was intent on maintain upon the Imperium. She needed something to bring further international support behind her, and the most recent actions that may have done so would also make the Imperium seem weak, it could not be revealed that a spy was able to worm their way into her inner circle. No, it had to be something more, something bigger that would provide for her to gain sympathy from others without damaging the nation's standing.

It was decided a full assassination would have to take place to provide for the furthest level of public support for the Imperium, after all, the Empress already had enough upon her plate, and now a widow? It was not that he was a bad guy, she just was not interested in him that way, perhaps a friend at best, but the 20 year age difference had made the man rather unattractive to the her and as such, he would need to be used as a pawn in this global game she was forced into playing.

Emperor Jeong had served his purpose to the Imperium, his marriage ensuring that Empress Hoshiko would maintain both Phoenix and the Chrysanthemum Thrones, and though they did not produce as heir, it would be her bloodline that continued the Joseon dynasty. Historically it would be proper to have poisoned him, but unfortunately that would not make as much of a news story, since it would be transformed into simply a heart attack or some other natural death.

A total of four people would be required to enact the plan she had come up with, two assassins, a single mole in his personal retinue(which she had already had the majority working for her anyway), and the head of Imperium Special Operations Command, Lieutenant general Ayumu Takenaka. The plan was simple of course, the snipers would set up upon a building along his normal travel route, which he had to do regularly as part of his duties as Head of State of Joseon. A single 50 caliber round through the front windshield of the car would be all that it took. The cybernetically enhanced team would find the mission rather boring, but they did not ask questions and completed the mission successfully.

Assassination!

Emperor Jeong has been shot today outside of Seoul. He died in route to the hospital, and was unable to be revived. The alleged assassin were believed to be part of an East Asian terrorist organization that has plagued both the Imperium and Shanghai for the past decade. Emperor Jeong was Empress Hoshiko's husband, and while rarely seen together in public, they had been married for almost five years. Empress Hoshiko has made a brief statement moments ago.

"I loved my husband very dearly, it could easily have been me who was assassinated, I will find those responsible for this terrible crime. These same people were also responsible for our recent intervention into Shanghai, as well as suspected to be the group that launched the first nuclear weapons during the War of the Twin Chinas. I have failed the people of the Imperium by allowing this group to continue to exist in our sphere of influence for far too long. From this day forward The Imperium is committed to wiping these thugs from harming another Asian citizen again."

The Empress did not take any questions after making this statement and was whisked away by her security staff. we will continue to follow this story as it develops.

3/7 Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Putrajaya, Selangor

Malacca City would lessen its surveillance upon Islamic citizens after the first few months had passed, it proved near impossible convincing youth to blow themselves up or begin shooting at people that had providing them with a new way of life and a much more relaxed way of thinking

3/7 Kuala Lumpur, Pahan, Perak, Terenggamu, Kelanta

The Mosque complex at Terenggamu was considered guady by some, but hundreds of thousands from the Siak Republic began visiting the Tempat Allah, nicknamed by some the Malaccan Mecca. The city gained much in terms of economic benefit from the complex being build, additional billions flowing into their coffers.

3/7 Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Songkhla, Satun, Phattalung

Penang Island, like the rest of the Imperium, would be flooded with cash while construction continued, providing for the quickest build times possible, construction workers always had a job in The Imperium.

3/7 Everything else

Troop movements were noticed to the north, security with the border of Druk Yul was tightened for the time being until clear word of what the purpose of their movements was. Until then, further mapping of the coastlines, surrounding sea floors, and other strategic information continued to be compiled, anyone planning an invasion of the area would be on their home turf, and it was important to ensure they had a mastery of their domain.

A message was broadcast to the Japanese local ground commander from the Druk Yul Theatre commander, Xi Ping, on open coms "We've seen your increased security. We know our actions may be provoking concerns among you but do not be frightened we're simply securing a construction zone. We're about to begin a very large earth moving project and we're simply moving to ensure it is protected. Do not be suprised if you detect several large conventional blasts in the area in the upcoming days, there's no fighting going on it's merely economic development work. We're laying new infrastructure for the locals."

Acknowleged, simply keeping an eye on our borders afterall.

4/7 Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Putrajaya, Selangor

Malacca City was probably one of the heavily armored cities in the world, but it was undecided whether or not such extreme measures would be required, on the same token, it was undecided whether or not their provocateurs would stop either.

4/7 Kuala Lumpur, Pahan, Perak, Terenggamu, Kelanta

Siak Republic muslims transforms the city, now one of the largest in the Siak Republic, it was fascinating what changes the Imperium had brought to the area.

4/7 Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Songkhla, Satun, Phattalung

Penang Island became a second Singapore after all was said and done, the advanced construction techniques used throughout the Imperium providing for a much different city that what had originally existed there.

4/7 Everything else

the South China Sea began being mapped after the Tongzhi incursion into the area, investigating oil and mineral deposits, there had to have been something they were looking for, but the Imperium would find it first.

The Nuclear Reactors in Malacca were finally complete, now providing the required power to Malacca City and the surrounding area with much needed clean power.

5/7 Kuala Lumpur, Pahan, Perak, Terenggamu, Kelanta

Kuala Lumpur once had the Petronas Towers, the largest buildings in Asia, of course that was before the fall, and since then they had not had anything on that scale. Until the Imperium came at least, massive structures began being raised from the ground, the city would join the rest of the Imperium's capital cities as a jewel of architecture.

5/7 Penang, Kedah, Perlis, Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, Songkhla, Satun, Phattalung

Penang Island finally looked like an Imperium city, its own nuclear power plant completing to allow for the insatiable need for energy that all Imperium citizens had.

5/7 Everything else

A more relaxed posture was taken upon the border, but patrols within territorial waters continued, Persia remaining silent for so long after their threats to remove the Imperium from the Indian completely, the silence gave them cause for concern, unaware of what they were planning.

IC: Imperium Intelligence set to work upon hacking into Tongzhi computer systems, investigating for information regarding their military makeup as well as the specific's of their radar computer systems. if the mission was a success an operation would be launched to put a plant in Tongzhi, after developing a virus to place there. Similar to a Stuxnet virus, it would seek out Tongzhi radar systems and force overheats, causing all attached computer systems to destroy themselves, the virus's programming was coded with as little commentary as possible, any comments made in it would be written in Arabic. Additionally, IPs being used would trace back to the very southwestern regions of the former Russian Empire.
