In the early mourning hours, the Drakan ports were teeming with activity, as three Carrier Strike Groups, and two marine expeditionary groups, began to depart from their bases to participate in one of the nation's largest exercises. The goal of the exercise was to strengthen maritime interoperability and tactics, techniques and procedures. In addition the week long exercise will consist of a routine dual-coast bilateral maritime counter-Special Operating Force exercise (MCSOFEX), subject matter expert exchanges, anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare drills, communication drills, air defense exercises, medical evacuation exercises, counter-mine planning and distinguished visitor embarkations.

The majority of the force will be dispatched to the southern tip of Africa, where live fire exercises will take place.

In preparation for this exercise, a minor notice was dispatched to the Republic of Madagascar, the Athenian Federation, and Tianxia, as a form of diplomatic courtesy.

**Encoded Dispatch to the Republic of Madagascar, the Athenian Federation, and Tianxia**

During the next couple of days, the Drakan Armed Forces will be conducting extensive naval exercises around Africa. Seeing as how all parties mentioned  have assets that are close to the Dominion, this is a minor notification that there will be extensive naval movements throughout the next couple of days. If there are any questions, please forward them to the Directorate of Foreign Affairs.

The Hellenic Forces would increase its regional readiness but not take any special measures beyond increasing surveillance and suspending all leaves of absence. The Exarchate would confirm the notification and advice its citizens and ships in the region to avoid Dominion ships to prevent incidents.

Operation: Awakening

The Fleet's carriers were alive with activity, as the hundreds of planes were fueled and prepared for operations. For some pilots, this would be the first time flying in simulated combat conditions; while, this would be a simple re-freshening course for the veteran pilots. With one loud roar after another, the carrier's Lu-67s launched into the blue skies. However, this was a different type of exercise. The Drakan were not attacking false targets; their targets would be The Cape. Indeed, this would be a live fire exercise. In preparation of the attack,  The Drakan Battle Fleet initiated all EW systems, which would blind enemy RADAR or make the fleet extremely difficult to target or track. In the skies, Xenian Electronic Warfare Aircraft began to transmit DFRM signals and other counter measures to assist the fighters in the skies. As the planes roared into the distance, the silence of the sea was erupted by the thunderous sound of cruise missile launches. The pre-positioned Submarines, from the two submarine groups, launched some fifty sub-sonic cruise missiles into the distance. Their targets would be harbors, rail ways, communication centers, ports, military facilities, runways, and various other targets of strategic value.

The submarine force would not get to have all the fun, however. The large assembly of surface ships began their own coordinated strike against targets of interest. Two hundred hypersonic cruise missiles were launched against  airports, harbors, ports, and government offices. These missiles were equipped with high explosive warheads, preceded by a launch of fifty cruise missiles with ECM warheads. The fifty missiles would transmit jamming and DFRM (which allowed each missile to simulate the return signal of a Drakan aircraft) to confuse the enemies RADAR. In the end, the goal of the Drakan Battle Fleet was complete saturation of the enemies air space. The final assault would be the "coup de grace", so to speak. One hundred fifty ST-2 Anti-shipping missiles were launched against enemy ships of all kinds.

Now the Lu-67s went into action. With eight squadrons dedicated to SEAD (each with their own support unit), the fighters flew in at full speed, with each fighter launching two PLX-2M Air-Launched Anti-Radiation Missiles. Guided by Inertial with GPS, passive radar-homing seeker w/ home-on-jam with MMW radar and LADAR at terminal, these missiles would seek out the enemies RADAR and obliterate it with their 45kg HE-Frag or flechette warhead. At the end of the day, a total of one hundred missiles would be dispatched all over the Cape.

The soldiers of the Marine Expeditionary Groups began to prepare for landing operations. The initial force would be two thousand soldiers, after which a force of two legions would be brought ashore. In addition, the armies Air Assault Legion was also prepared. Before operations could be launched; however, a detailed intelligence report had to be obtained. Ground Forces would be landed when the right conditions were met.

Unfortunately as no advance warning of such an operation being carried out had been given the government of New Gabon has been unable to warn any of its citizens and now a significant number of them are trapped in the Cape which is under attack. Therefore we ask the Dominion of Draka for a cease fire between themselves and The Cape whilst we evacuate our people from the area. We need to get our people out before any of them come to unintentional harm.

In the ports of New Gabon civilian liners and other passenger ships were readied for immediate sail down to The Cape with orders to rescue all the New Gabon citizens trapped inside the nation. For added protection due to the dangerous situation down there they would be escorted by the four fast attack vessels of the New Gabon navy.

Secure Reply Transmission

Thank you for agreeing to our request. Our citizens inside The Cape have been ordered to leave all belongings behind and to assemble on the docks in the city where they will be able to board the civilian liners and other passenger ships we are sending. We were going to send our fast attack craft with them as escort but now leave their protection in Drakan hands.

Six different civilian passenger ships including the majestic liner The Royal Gabon left port in Libreville and sailed down the coast until they came upon the Drakan Battle Fleet. Here the six ships would wait for the Drakan Admiral in charge to decide what he wanted to do about letting them in to pick up the Gabon citizens now assembling on the dock sides in The Cape.

When the civilian ships from Gabon arrived, Admiral Helson ordered the Drakan ships to stand down in a defensive posture, with Lu-67 Multi-Role Fighters ordered to perform combat air patrols over the coastal areas. Helson would send a quick message over an encoded transmission. "You may proceed forward and god speed."

Captain Mugaby, from The Royal Gabon would send a short quick message back in reply. "Thank you". The six ships would enter The Cape and would dock at different berths where the Gabon citizens stood waiting. Loading of passengers would be undertaken at speed but with all due care, any Capian citizen wishing to board would be offered an apology before being refused boarding. These ships were for Gabon citizens only they would be told. Even at a quick pace the boarding would take at least an hour to two hours to complete.

It was a clear day throughout the city, civilians enjoying their Easter Sunday were out and about the city some getting tanned from the rare appearance of the sun. Bass International employees were still hard at work, having been put on elevated status due to Draken comments a few days ago, no drastic measures had been taken but reserves had been called back from leave, and warned to be prepared to be called upon should the city need it. RADAR operators across the city noticed around 2pm their screens acting up, the initial EW launched by Drakan forces nearly blinding RADAR across the city state, operators quickly switched to frequency-hopping allowing some measure of awareness. Air Raid sirens would be sounded, chaos filled the streets as civilians began getting to the nearest structure, there hadn't been much preparation for potential attacks against The Cape, having maintained a neutral stance on nearly everything since their independence, the klaxons came as a surprise, most standing around for a few moments thinking it was merely a drill before realizing that they were about to come under attack.

The Cape's massive harbors would be the first to see missiles, 225 in total would obliterate over half of the dock facilities, as well as the just over a hundred container ships either docked or sitting in the harbor waiting to dock. the loss of civilian life would be stunning to the peaceful city. Another 100 would strike various buildings across the city, later believed to have been intended to strike at military and government offices, though due to the massive urbanization accuracy was not easy to hit the underground garages that served as the city's military facilities only five of the garages were damaged majorly the rest were cleared of rubble within hours after the first wave of attacks ceased. the most successfully struck was the City Hall, more than a dozen missiles hit the building at varying heights, leaving the structure smoldering. Tianna Synders was the only government member killed in the attack, nearly everyone else was not at their corporate or government office due to the holiday, with the exception of Jessika Van Ogtrop, the education minister had just left for the day, having only gone in to retrieve some work she had forgotten, she watched as the smoke trails flew over her car, smashing into the City Hall, the floor she had just been on now set ablaze. A further 75 missiles in total would crater The Cape's airfield, nearly 1/3rd of Bass International's Oryx would be damaged or destroyed.

35mm autocannons across the city would begin searching for aircraft as the missiles fell, their radars being jammed causing difficulties but the operators would do everything in their power to defend the city and kept rapt attention to their screens, using frequency-hopping to at least lessen the effects of the jamming. the main radar facilities would find themselves bombarded, the anti air emplacements would also receive a heavy dose of cruise missiles as well, but managed to destroy a decent percentage of those targeted at the emplacements. 20% of the anti air defenses would be damaged or destroyed by the time the first salvo was over, due to the missiles having a priority at RADAR installations.

Oryx crews would be deployed across the city, assisting Gabon civilians in getting to the limited dock facilities still existing, and to make attempts to save anyone drowning or heavily injured from the missile attack, the military would prioritize saving the civilians over anything else. Emergency crews were overwhelmed and the assistance from Military forces was welcomed, civilians pleased they lived in a nation that respected the population as more than just cannon fodder.

The brief cease fire allowing for STARS and special forces to make preparations for the incoming invasion, sniper nests and grenadier nests would be set up all across the city, explosives would be set underneath roads not on the paths Bass International wished the invaders to use, allowing remote detonation should Drakon forces make landfall. Debris was cleared from the damaged garages, though no military vehicles would be setting up outside quite yet, not wanting to be sitting ducks. Blockades would be set up around the city to assist in the ambush plan, allowing for the corralling of invaders should it come to that.

Civilians would be asked to remain inside and get comfortable, Capean leadership was uncertain of how long they would have to remain under lock down, but civilian casualties were not something Capeans could tolerate so easily as other nations. Nico and Layne would have a short conversation before Nico made a public statement:

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I stand before you as a representative of the democratically elected Capean government. A few hours ago our nation came under attack by Draken forces claiming that our people are starving. Draken forces have killed more Capeans than we have lost to disease, starvation and homicide since our creation. If this were truly a humanitarian mission it would have been presented to the UN. We live in a civilized world, and though not everyone appears to follow the same laws of morality, join The Cape in refuting this type of behavior, guns and bombs should be the last resort, never the first.

I have lived in Cape Town my entire life, I pushed for independence from the Athenian Exarch, representing the people's will. A large percentage of our citizens are former Athenians, and we wonder who will be the next target of Draken forces should they succeed in their attacks against The Cape? according to public statements made by The Dominion of Draka, they wish to regain all lands held by former South Africa. We ask our former protectors in Athens to consider the threat against their administrative region when deciding how to approach this travesty of diplomacy that Draka has forced upon The Cape."

cell phone footage of the cruise missile strikes against buildings and security footage from the docks showing civilian vessels being destroyed would be imposed on screen.

"To the rest of the World, Ask yourselves, do you support unwarranted aggression like what Draka has forced upon us, or do you support the use of diplomacy and reason above all else, like we have made every attempt to do? My government will continue to attempt to use the UN to find a peaceful solution to this attack, the loss of civilians of our great city already a tragedy. Capeans do not wish to see war, they wish to see peace emanate throughout the world. People should not have to fear coming under attack without provocation, they should be allowed to live their lives in the nations they choose, so long as those governments are not committing atrocities against their people."

Images of Capean homeless facilities would be shown on screen, appearing similar to a military barracks, doctors treating low income citizens, both physically and mentally, job Councillors talking with homeless, and footage of these same people working community service style jobs.

"The Casus Belli against our great city is that we have people starving while creating uMdali, when that is the farthest possible conclusion from the reality anyone could gather after spending even an hour here. Yes, our city is attempting to create something that has never been done before, we will quadruple our livable land with this structure, become a beacon of science and technology throughout the world, the Space Elevator of old is the only project in comparable scale. I ask are we being punished for treating our poor and downtrodden with respect, or is this attack motive to prevent a small nation to achieve big dreams? I reiterate our calls in the UN to demand a ceasefire and send independent observers to our nation, disprove the Drakan lies, and through diplomatic means, achieve repayment for the tragic loss of life of thousands so far, most merely doing their jobs, jobs according to Draka they do not even work at.

No matter if we stand alone or stand as one of many in an international community, our citizens will not submit to nations who behave as Draka has against us. Ask yourselves leaders of the world, would your citizens want you to allow them to be subjugated under false pretenses?

As a final statement, this one directly to Drakan leader, your government made no attempts at diplomacy or to follow international law, you may have picked a smaller target than you, and perhaps you'll even succeed, but your decisions over the course of the next days and weeks will determine your place amongst the international community.

The attacks had been a wake up call to reserve forces, Bass International had already grouped them into BCTs, each would be given a small section of the city to defend, allowing for a defense to be raised even if Draken forces were successful at completely destroying Capean CNC, which would prove difficult now that they had been given a few hours to be hidden away by the Personal Defense forces assigned to the government by BI.

OOC note: if you have issues with my RP of your destruction, I will be happy to discuss it with you and the GMs.

the Continuation from the Sea..

With news from intelligence, Drakan leadership learned that the first naval assault was considered an outstanding success. Not wanting to waste anymore time, Admiral Helson ordered a second round of attacks. With no real threats from the sea, the battle fleet was ordered to concentrate all efforts to targets inland. "No mercy will be given on this day." From the ships of the fleet, over two hundred fifty sub sonic, with twenty of those being of the precious ECM variety, cruise missiles were launched. Power stations, roads, communication towers, railways, and various other economic structures would be leveled in the strikes.  From the depths of the deep blue, the submarine battle groups would launch their own assault. From the sea, over one hundred missiles would be catapulted into the distance. The targets would be the same, as the targets from the surface fleet. In the end, nothing would be left untouched. After the initial missiles strikes, the amphibious assault group prepared for landing operations. From the docks of the massive vessels, various cushion and other types of landing craft began to depart. There was a mixture of excitement and even some nervousness, as this was the first taste of combat a lot of these soldiers would see. After a small travel through the seas, the craft reached their destination, allowing the first Drakan troops to disembark, along with their armored vehicles. The first troops numbered six hundred. These troops secured the coast line, allowing for more troops to land. In the end, some three thirty three hundred troops would land, with armored and other support vehicles. The  remaining ten Frye Landing Dock ships would land an addition three hundred fifty troops and thirty armored vehicles each. This would be the initial force and would be followed by the deployment of two additional legions (thirteen thousand troops, three hundred armored vehicles, and one hundred artillery pieces). The landing force would begin to dispatch the Lu-09 Ground Support Drones, which were the Lu-09B (AEW variant and the EW Drone). After landing, all forces would organize and prepare for inland operations. The noise on the coastline would be drowned out by the roar of missile and jet fighters overhead...

Unleashing brimstone...

Three missiles flew overhead, with their targets being the Cape. These missiles were of the HMP/ E-Bomb variety. The missiles were aimed at three specific locations over the Cape, and designed to fry all electronics (including RADAR) in the nation. To follow up, Lu-67s (escorted by Xenian AWACs) launched an all out assault inside of the Cape. Each multi-role fighter was equipped with two thousand pound guided munitions (with armored piercing fletchettes for maximum damage against soft targets) and were dropped on buildings of "supposed" strategic importance. The fighters would launch over one hundred sorties and were ordered to leave no structure untouched. GLI-133 Ank'ríats, the entire force, would also launch hell against the nation. Each bomber had 27,000 kg of external munitions (air to surface missiles with high explosive fletchette warheads) and 5 internal bomb bays for 75,000 lb (34,000 kg) (FAE (Fuel Air Explosives), which would be dropped throughout the nation in around-the-clock bombing missions. In regards to the ferocity of the attacks, Marshal of Air Operations Ferguson would comment, "The Cape will be destroyed, and it will be replaced with a resort, as far and I'm concerned."

OOC: I question your ability to simply take over the coast considering the previous attacks drastic damage against port facilities, and due to my urbanization it isnt like you can just land on a beach, there IS no beach.

The next wave of 350 missiles would be shut down primary power generation for the city, with only 25% of the power grid left online. generators would immediately kick in for every structure, air filtration systems turned on as a precaution, not knowing what atrocities the aggressors would launch next. Communications had already for the most part been destroyed most missiles aimed at these targets would end up harming entirely civilian targets. the limited railways exiting the city would find themselves heavily damaged, not that there was anywhere to go to by this point. Savage Paragon Entertainment's Headquarters, being the largest communication hub, would collapse under the intensity of the attacks, estimates would be 20,000 civilians lost due to the damage caused.

The limited positions for craft of any size left to land made prepositioning artillery easy, on top of the fact the cushioned landing craft would tear themselves apart against the rubble of the quays. The previous attacks had left 90% of port facilities in the city unusable. bombardment of landing craft would begin from the moment they were half a mile out, and continue for as long as they were allowed to do so, anti armor missile teams were set up in the closest buildings, and begin launching against the landing craft before they even opened their doors.

The electronic pulses above the city would be devastating to civilian equipment, the further bombing campaign would bring down a further 20 structures, all but one entirely civilian. A total loss of civilian life was estimated at 550,000 people, along with roughly 20,000 soldiers based in those buildings and those flying the medevac missions, their helicopters falling from the sky. The fire departments couldn't begin to put down all of the flames, those with still functional vehicles would make every attempt to though.

from the very northern edge of the city, civilian hackers would penetrate Athenian airwaves during prime time, ensuring a broad audience.

:a moment of static, replaced by time lapse footage of the city from a camera facing south, giving a picturesque view of the city from the day before the attacks started, bright lights and the heavy air and sea traffic clearly visible, til now, fires raging across the city, multiple buildings collapsing under the intensity of explosives brought upon them:

"This is The Cape, a small African city state that claimed independence from the exarch a few years ago, the Dominion of Draka, an even newer nation the exarch granted independence to, has claimed ownership of all lands formerly belonging to South Africa, and then attacked our sovereign nation under the fabricated Casus Belli of "helping the poor suffering in The Cape".

:images of the firebombings, Churches, high rise apartments, and education facilities being destroyed by the high explosives unleashed upon The Cape:

"Draka seeks to wipe out our nation, for no reason other than a land grab, Exarchy held land is also in their sights, Draka explicitly claiming all of South Africa. We ask why your elected government is allowing these atrocities to happen? Hundreds of thousands are dying in Africa over a false pretense. Is this what the exarchy was created for? Athens has been the largest contributor to stability in Africa, intervening when war came to Sierra Leone, We merely ask for the same, a UN backed intervention to stop the atrocities being committed against us."

:images of homeless shelters prewar, their tenants sleeping, eating, or studying, speaking with doctors, daycare facilities for homeless children to stay at while their parents sought employment.:
"These are the people Draka is fighting for, these "suffering" souls were taken care of by Capean government, our construction project to add an additional 1000 square kilometers to our small nation would have ensured anyone who wishes to work would find employment for the next 50 years, our economy was strong until these attacks, now there are thousands dying as I speak. The Fascists in Draka do not want you to see these images Athenians,  they prove their Casus Belli was a lie, prove that they are nothing more than war hungry savages, your government can put an end to our people's needless death, please help us, demand peace in Africa once more."

Despite the significant amount of viewers the hackings reached they simply hit at the wrong time, with the war in the Noord-Unie Staat ongoing and elections having recently concluded there was no significant political will to change pace on the conflict from any party. Added to that many Athenians felt the matters of the Cape were not important enough for the Hellenic Forces to launch another military intervention. To further leverage this the Ministry of Internal Affairs went into overdrive to justify the controlled Athenian response to the situation and thus avoid major resistance from the populace. In the end there were some protests in major cities but none exceeding more than 500 attendees.

At the same time however the Imperial Security Council was now faced with a different problem to deal with, the hacking of secure Athenian networks by a clearly hostile power, with military action against the Cape deemed excessive and symbolic at best a measure was suggested that would hit Capean leadership hardest. A complete quarantine. As such upon issuing the orders elements of the Hellenic Navy, with a special focus on anti-submarine warfare and intercepting civilian vessels, would move closer to the Capean coast with orders to inspect any ship leaving the Cape while an F-1 squadron was dedicated to intercepting any aircraft coming out of the Cape. Finally a division of Hellenic Marines were deployed to the Capean border to close off all ways to leave by ground. While normal citizens would be let go individuals identified as leadership would be detained. When questioned representatives of the various involved ministries and the Hellenic Forces would invoke self-defence.

The coordinated landing operations continued with a few hindrances. From the smoke shrouded distance, partisan forces launched artillery and anti-armor munitions. The enemy had failed to take into account one important aspect. The area surrounded the Drakan Forces were surrounded by Lu-09 Ground Support Drones, which were of the Lu-09B (AEW variant and the EW Drone), which would blind any foreign targeting systems.  The missiles targeted towards the Drakan would either have their targets jammed (resulting in the missiles going fully off target) or prematurely detonated.  However, no system has one hundred percent full capability, which resulted in a couple landing craft being hit. Artillery would prove to be an annoyance, with dozens of soldiers injured due to shrapnel and more being killed in action. While the enemy was busy launching endless missiles and artillery, the Lu-09 Ground Support Multi-Role Drone were scouring the area, pinpointing the exact position of the enemies launch points. The Synthetic Aperture (SAR), Inverse Synthetic Aperture (ISAR) and Ground Moving Target Indication (GMTI) modes were used to quickly build up detailed imagery of the ground, regardless of weather or battle field obscurants such as smoke, and project onto this various target indicators. Most of the Data was transmitted to the Lu-67 Multi-Role Fighters (assigned to Combat Air Patrols), which began to launch attacks against the preassigned targets. Some one hundred sorties would be launched, with one thousand pound guided munitions being the main weapon of choice. Despite the earlier setbacks, Drakan Forces would continue the landing operations. There would be no stopping them...

Air Operations

As ordered by the Supreme General Staff, Air Operations would pick up intensity. One hundred cruise missiles would be launched at the greatest sign of decadence in the Cape, he first tier pylons which were built to support the multilevel city. Complete destruction of these structures would be the priority of these missiles strikes. In addition, the Drakan strategic air fleet launched another all out assault on the city. GLI-133 Ank'ríats, 27,000 kg of external munitions (air to surface missiles with high explosive fletchette warheads) and 5 internal bomb bays for 75,000 lb (34,000 kg) (high explosive free fall bombs), would launch another round of attacks. Some fifty sorties would be ordered. A secondary attack, consisting of the GLI-122 Blitz Bomber, would follow soon after the Ank'ríats. Each of the GLI-122s were equipped with one Massive Ordnance Penetrator, which would be used alongside the complete first tier pylons.

In the Dominion..

On a secret air base, troops of the I and II Air Assault Legion would begin to prepare for the second phase of the war. The soldiers would begin to prepare for the mission of their lives..

[Economic Prosperity]

The economic prosperity would lead to an influx of immigrants. Former citizens from Transvaal and other former South African states would make their back to Draka. There would also be an influx from other states, more notably former citizens and government officials from the Greater Germanic Reich and the recently collapsed Greater Sith Empire. The descendants of the last Reichskanzler of Greater Germany, Eva Schmidt, would be the most notable, along with Caedus. Most of their reasons would be "looking for a new life." while, others would blame the recent turmoil in Europe for the influx.

Considering a majority of the former Transvaal's core South African citizens were getting firebombed by their alleged ahyes.gifliberatorsahyes.gif most really wouldn't be making their way to Draka. Most remnants of Transvaal were increasingly collateral damage for Draka's onslaught. Edited by Mogar

MOABs are fuel-air explosives deigned for a relatively open field.

"The MOAB is not a penetrator weapon.and is primarily intended for soft to medium surface targets covering extended areas and targets in a contained environment. such as a deep canyon or within a cave system."

Relying on fuel-air explosives to destroy a city is unreliable. Draka had underestimated scale of The Cape. Cape is over hundred sprawling yet packed miles that makes a megalopolis of skyscrapers built to the highest construction standards possible, each building constructed since the independence of the city was designed to survive an 8.5 earthquake.. Over a hundred fuel-air explosives wouldn’t destroy a city of reinforced skyscrapers. Even with over a hundred fuel-air explosives. . . wasn’t enough to flatten everything  Four building radius to each bomb anything without a wall between it and a wall melted. Roads were chocked full of cars that were melted and fused to ground. . . Making the main roadways impassible to anyone – including the invaders. Yes, it was horrible for so many people. Hundreds of thousands of citizens were fried by this particular wave alone, but it was too soon for counting the civilian losses. They would likely in the millions before Draka were actually done. However, by focusing their efforts on civilian targets Draka’s air forces allowed for a small degree of mobilization.

Half of Cape’s (100) Rhino G6 self-propelled howitzers positioned themselves on Tabletop mountain. Spotters on the flat topped mountain had a clear view of The Cape all spread out across the plateau in a hundred different places, supported by eight spotters each and four hundred eighty snipers all equally spread out.

A further two thousand snipers were embedded in the city, and would begin firing upon the Lu-09 Ground Support Drones as their primary targets, as well as any soldiers not in vehicles.

One hundred cruise missiles destroyed exactly a hundred pillars. Many died as the concrete was coming down. The Dagger of the Draka, however, proved insufficient. There wasn’t any surprise that Cape’s megaproject still managed to stand, the intended center alone contained hundreds of smaller pillars, It would have to for supporting the trillion tons it was intended to support. Three hundred forty two pillars were outlying the structure. A pitiful hundred missiles wasn’t negligible, but it would take more than that to bring down uMdali, Half of the primary pylons were heavily damaged or destroyed. The remaining holding firm in defiance of Drakan’s onslaught, the pillars’ defiance was inspiring to everyone left alive in the city.

First wave of the naval assault was an outstanding success, the Second wave did exactly as intended. ECM proved effective in doing exactly what Draka wanted, Power stations, communication towers, railways, and various other economic structures were leveled in the strikes. The Cape’s entire front line was entirely isolated, the effects on forward coordination was immediately apparent. Forward units had only their final orders . . . hold the line. Intra unit communications already started to falter. Roads were a different matter entirely, the completely urbanized megapolis was made of a maze of roads so effects of any missiles left over from the other attacks was marginal overall.

The noise on coastline would be drowned out by the roar of missile and jet fighters overhead, Thousands of Draka were on the beachheads. Beachheads that were surrounded on all sides, like everywhere else in the Cape, with skyscrapers. There was a reason for a lack of heavy resistance thus far. From the surrounding Skyscrapers, fifty thousand Cape soldiers fired a fifty thousand heavy weapons towards the invaders. Twenty five thousand non electronic rocket propelled grenades, twenty five thousand recoil-less rifles, all fifty thousand projectiles streaking through air towards a coastline’s worth of invaders. The attacks wouldn’t actually let up after the initial barrage.

Followed soon thereafter by the artillery from Tabletop mountain. The first of six round-per-minute fell on the invaders without difficulty...

The Following minutes would be completely in hands of the Draka.

With a beachhead established, Drakan forces began to mobilize for the next phase of the assault. At her forward command headquarters, Arch-Strategos Coerste ordered the next phase of the attack. "All forces begin to move forward, in small dedicated strike teams. We are on their turf now, so expect hell to be given to us." Coerste proceeded to tie her hair into a neat bun, before placing on her combat helmet. "I want that abomination of a structure brought down. Tell our friends in the air force to concentrate all efforts there." Before she could finish her sentence, a large explosion rocked the area. "We have two men down!" a lone voice in the distance screamed. "Locate where that fire is coming from! Give no quarter to these partisans..."

The silence of the beachhead was interrupted by the thunderous applause of enemy fire. Drakan troops rushed to defensive positions, mostly behind armored vehicles who were firing their own heavy guns into the distance. In the heat of battle, dozens of vehicles were hit; while hundreds of missiles missed their targets. After all, the enemy was firing blindly into the distance. The missiles exploding into the ground still caused minimal injuries, mostly from the splattering shrapnel. Some soldiers were hit with direct fire, which caused a grizzly scene in various parts of the beach heads. In response, the reconnaissance of the Lu-09 Ground Support Drones began to locate and transmit the location of the enemies targeting fire.  Upon receiving targeting information, the Drakan Air Force launched one of the most concentrated air attacks since the beginning of the conflict. Lu-67 Multi-Role Fighters, equipped with air launched missiles, were launched at the buildings where the attacks were coming from. Around the clock sorties, some one hundred in all, would be directed at these buildings. In the end, some two thousand missiles were launched directly into the buildings, either causing them to collapse or damaging them beyond use for the enemy.

In response to the artillery, Drakan Forces began to spread out, while continuing to push forward at a steady pace. The areas surrounding the forces would make counter-battery fire a difficult task, which made the Drakan's switch tactics. Instead of firing back with artillery, cruise missiles, with anti-armor cluster bomblets, would be fired into the general direction. This would be a simple task, with only one ship in the Drakan Fleet delegated to the role of a counter-battery system. Drakan Forces still managed to receive casualties. In the skies, the final attack to bring down the pylons.  From the Drakan Battle Fleet, some two hundred fifty cruise missiles were launched at the weakened structures. This would be a concentrated barrage, designed to bring down the structure swiftly. Eight squadrons of GLI-133 Ank'ríats, with 27,000 kg of external munitions (air to surface missiles with high explosive warheads), flew sorties against the pylons as well. It was hoped that the end result would their complete decimation.

Between the Cape and Athenian border region, the I and II Air Assault Legions began their attack. From their transport aircraft, one soldier after another began their jump. In the end, some six thousand troops had landed in the north of the Cape. In the next couple of hours, their heavy equipment would also be dropped. These soldiers would establish a position and prepare for the next round of attacks.
