PresidentDavid
Cba. Maybe if you'd actually put in the effort to educate yourself on politics you are talking about, then I put in the effort to be politically correct. Shush I'm talking to your boss. Centurius
Fact is had there not been protectorates I would have simply annexed Africa and Europe when I got control over both and then give the land to people who asked for it. Protectorates are a tool for larger nations to control territory against landhogs without outright annexing it into your own. It has always worked well and it still does. It also lets new players see "white space" on the map so they don't feel intimidated.
Evangeline Anovilis
Shush I'm talking to your boss. Well, after comparing him to Putin, I doubt he'll reply to this specific request positively. While you say it wasn't an insult, you follow that right up with another potshot at him. Way to go. Also, if you want to mock me, find a better way. I'm not going to deny that I am not 100% free to do what I want, but neither are you. I take quite a bit of pride in my status and while I may not be a Lion, I'm at least not the Lamb.

Evangeline Anovilis
Well, I doubt you'd get the reference and I think in the end, you know your standing, Mr. Japanisnotanislandcountry.

TheShammySocialist
The levels of snide childishness this thread has descended to makes me appalled. :( My two cents on this entire matter falls in line with Cent's, to be honest. Protectorates define no-go areas and allow for territory to be "controlled", yes, but it also prevents land snatchers from just endlessly grabbing bits and pieces of land. In essence, it sets up spheres of influence, yes, but on the flip side, it holds others in check from snatching land up. We've brought up doing away with protectorates more than a handful of times, and each time, the majority of the community says no. I think they serve a purpose here in CNRP, and they might have their flaw(s), but those flaw(s) don't inherently outweigh the land that stays open. To be honest, I don't think we lose players here because of protectorates, I think we don't have a lot of players joining because many of the prime areas people like to RP are taken. On top of that, more often than not, most of the new people rolling in don't even read any of the rules, and have to be corrected multiple times despite being shown where to go. I remember reading the rules backwards and forwards before joining CNRP and understanding everything before I joined up, and I was nervous as hell that I was going to get stomped when I initially joined for whatever reason. iamthey
I favor the use and inclusion of protectorates in RP for every reason margrave cites as a criticism.
