Schattenmann
Your alliance has a tech-savvy guy or two. They set up your forum so that when people register, they put in their nation link, and/or AA, and/or resources, etc. Then, all that handy info gets posted under their avatar. That is really awesome. Now you're setting up your diplomat masking process. And you ask everyone who just spent 20 minutes typing in their AA, resources, logging in to get their nation number, entering their resources, etc. to post a reply/new thread and type in . . . . . . their AA, nation name, nation link--all the info that will appear, hyperlinked, under their avatar the second they push "post." These poor bureaucrats whose spammy efforts mean little-to-nothing to begin with as their respective leaders chat directly via IRC will repeat this process 10 times as they go from ally to ally. Ask yourself why. Don't answer yourself; the question is the answer. Then go change your diplo application to the effect of removing any field that the person already has displayed under their avatar, because that's why you modified the forum in the first place. Thank you. No, thank you. You're welcome. Edited March 9, 2014 by Schattenmann
Ogaden
honestly the whole diplo sign up dance is pointless. the only step that is useful (ingame pms to prove your identity) many of these procedures don't even include just do the ingame pm and nothing else imo
The Zigur
Maybe I'm just old school, but I think forums are a very important part of diplomacy. On a forums, you have the opportunity to project a professional, active presence. Big decisions may not be formulated on forums as much, but how you present yourself formally has a big impact on how people perceive you. Active forums diplomacy demonstrates consistency, literacy, discipline and the ability to communicate easily. Personally its hard for me to take most alliances seriously if they do not have active forum members internally or abroad. For Donnie Diplomat who is serving the AA, not so much.
The Zigur
Well, that's probably why so much "poaching" of the good diplomats happens in active, leadership-strong alliances. *Cough MI6 Cough* :P Edited March 9, 2014 by Tywin Lannister

Auctor
The average diplomat posts what, 3-5 times in an embassy afterwards? I'm thinking they can survive posting their nation link.
xoindotnler
Maybe I'm just old school, but I think forums are a very important part of diplomacy. Most of the time its just so a person can say hi in private instead of public and pretty much waste everyones time.
Neo Uruk
Every time I have to post my nation link (especially since I have to post nation name and ruler directly above) I die a little inside Edited March 9, 2014 by Neo Uruk
xoindotnler
Every time I have to post my nation link (especially since I have to post nation name and ruler directly above) I die a little inside Meanwhile you had to add your nation id to your profile to even register on the forum itself. Rayvon
:frantic: Wahh I have to type my nation link twice :frantic: Copy and paste if it's such a big deal. More effort spent crying about it. Be the rebel who doesn't fill in the box; I don't think you'll actually find many that really care if it's missed/skipped. Not true. Maybe for diplomats that aren't allies or wanting to be allies. I have a thousand or so posts on other AAs forums/embassy. But then again maybe I'm an exception

JoshuaR
Pretty sure we just automate everything so that no one on our end has to do much work. I can't vouch for how easy it is on the other side, though.

The Zigur
Would be a desperate AA to poach you. Desperation leads to great deeds: "Soldiers when in desperate straits lose the sense of fear. If there is no place of refuge, they will stand firm. If they are in hostile country, they will show a stubborn front. If there is no help for it, they will fight hard. "Thus, without waiting to be marshaled, the soldiers will be constantly on the qui vive; without waiting to be asked, they will do your will; without restrictions, they will be faithful; without giving orders, they can be trusted."
