Sorry for having let this thread unattended for a while, but (several days ago) we had a last minute submission, dy Cazaril's The Dove of War: [spoiler][hr]The Dove of War [spoiler][/spoiler][/spoiler] But there's more! We already held the first round of voting, which saw all the 17 candidate flags running (with multiple preferences allowed) to try end top three or to get at least 10% of the preferences to advance to round 2. It was an harsh contest and eventually three flags did it (with dy Cazaril's flag being one of them). Congratulations also to Lord Hershey and to Arrnea for each placing one of their flags in the second phase. :) (All the other artists will be glad to know that their work was appreciated, as all flags got at least some preference. Lord Hershey also was only one vote short from having his "Green Battle Flag" also pass the first vote). We GPA-ers are now voting in round 2, with only one choice allowed. Should a flag get >50% of the votes it will be chosen as the final candidate, otherwise - and it's the case most likely, considering the current intermediate results - we'll have a runoff with the two most voted ones. Here are the three flags battling to be chosen as the final candidate for the GPA "war"/second flag (in brackets you see the votes they got in this moment): Lord Hershey's Agency Rage - (16/55) dy Cazaril's The Dove of War - (19/55) Arrnea's Green Wings of War - (20/55) Minor clerical notes: - Unfortunately D34th couldn't participate due to prevailing RL commitments. :( - The GPA Cabinet will anyway have the last say on the flag. As for the wings, they're a bit clichéd, I think Caz' is the best. I hope it wins. I'm glad I was busy and didn't get the opportunity to enter. I couldn't have designed anything better than those. jerdge Posted March 5, 2014 Author Report Share Posted March 5, 2014 Round two ended with the incredible result of a tie between two flags, with the third and last following very close at just one vote from the top. I must confess that I wouldn't have imagined we would have had such an exciting and intense competition. The artists did really an awesome job and the flags are all that near to perfection that it's really difficult to choose between them... Maybe we should have chosen to rotate among them three! Anyway, thanks to Lord Hershey for his very valiant contribution, that was just a very small distance from reaching the final battle. The Agency Rage, a beautiful red flag, would have been a perfect choice for the GPA War Flag, combining a familiar shape with a sharp colour difference, to represent how war is an unusual situation for us peaceful people, but one we work to be prepared to handle if need be. But alas, such is the cruel nature of competitions, that great candidates at times get discarded as well. :( Now: the final duel! Who will come out victorious? The amazing Green Wings that we got used to consider traditional in all the MoD's announcements? Or the beautiful Dove that entered the competition at the last moment, to soundly surprise defeat most competitors? We'll see! (The candidate that gets >50% of the votes will win. In case of a tie we will vote again. In case of a second tie I'll blame everyone and their mothers. Loudly. And we'll then probably let the Cabinet decide.)
