Economic
The Kingdoms first stock market opened today in a grand ceremony in central Copenhagen. The Stock market hopes to attract foreign investors to the Kingdom to boost the national economy and GDP. Alongside the opening of the stock market, the Governments Social Security program was made active. MP's say that the Social Security program will benefit those of the Kingdom later in life.

Culture
The Department of Culture and Tourism have been granted permission by Parliament and the King to make the twelfth of July, every year, the National Norse Film Day, a celebration of Norse directors and producers who are striving to give the Norse film industry a boost.

Science
His Majesty the King has begun pressuring Parliament to allocate funding to the development of a Space Program with the aims of expanding Norse interests in space. The present Norse Space Agency has only been tasked with launching of satellites for commercial companies and the military. Furthermore, a special branch of the military's top minds have been put together to create a network of National Research Laboratories. Speculation as to what these labs will produce is varied with many stating that they could be made to produce weapons of mass destruction, whilst others have voiced the opinions that these laboratories will be used to develop vaccines and cures for disease and biological weaponry. (More news to come on this development).

Infrastructure
Billions have been allocated by the Government for massive development programs across all villages, towns and cities across the Kingdom today. Such plans including the expansion of Copenhagen and the further development of the joint program that the Kingdom shares with Prussia over north sea exploration and exploitation.

Energy
New environmental protection laws have been put in place requiring all industrial buildings to be constructed and operated with minimum emissions. Following this victory for environmental campaigners the King has also pledged, "whether Parliament likes it or not" for more money to be pumped into the development of a clean and renewable energy source to power the nation. Furthermore, planning permission has been granted for Norse Energy, the power conglomerate which provides the Kingdom with electricity, for them to begin the development and construction of massive wind farms and investment into bio-fuels alongside their own exploration into the North Sea reserves.

Science/Military

Last month we reported that the military would be putting together its top minds to create a series of National Research Laboratories and it was speculated that such facilities would be used to create weapons of mass destruction and not vaccines for naturally occurring pathogens and man-made pathogens.

This will not be the case and the labs will be used only for the purposes of benefiting the Kingdom through vaccination and preparation as opposed to creating weapons of mass destruction.

It did however raise many questions towards the NRL committee which outlined its plans early this morning for the laboratories and their purpose. It has been rumored that Parliament have been discussing the development of a nuclear deterrent, something HRH the King is opposing. One of the questions asked was: "Could the NRL's be used in the research and development of nuclear weapons?", to which the committee replied:

"Yes, but only in computer simulations and developments, we would lack the facilities to put together a functional nuclear weapon, but on our computer systems? We could easily create a simulated nuclear weapon."

King Frederik has opposed nuclear weapons and any other kind of weapon of mass destruction and has vowed not to allow their development.

Official Government Announcement

His Royal Highness, King Frederik has dissolved Parliament and placed all cabinet ministers under arrest for reasons of National Security.

The arrests are the result of a large criminal investigation into a wide spread and deep rooted corruption within Parliament with the aims of disposing the King and attempts to fund the development nuclear weapons against the Kings word.

The investigation will continue until such a time that the inquiry deems it closed and those responsible are placed on trial.

More information will be released as and when it is available.

Science

In the early hours of this morning, the Norse Space Agency launched its first, experimental spacecraft to the Moon. The manned mission will be a one way mission for the brave astronauts because when they land on the Lunar surface, their spacecraft will become the first module of the Kingdoms Lunar Installation, commonly known as a moon base.

Over the next ten years, the NSA plans on sending two missions per year to continue the development of the L.I. and expanding the base to eventually accommodate a crew of fifty men and women.

Long term plans for the base include expanding it enough to hold a permanent team of nearly a thousand.

Update on Parliament Arrests and Investigation

In a shock revelation, it has been revealed that all those arrested in the scandal have been found guilty of High Treason after documents implicating the Cabinet as a whole was discovered during the investigation which outlined a plot to dispose of the King and being development of nuclear weapons.

Science

The second mission to the moon was launched today with a larger, but slower spacecraft to accommodate a larger crew. This second spacecraft will also "tow" a freight satellite in orbit over the Earth towards the moon as it contains vital supplies such as food and water.

The second craft, carrying twenty crew members will become the first accommodation module of the Lunar Base.

A third mission is planned for early next year as more and more people volunteer for the rigorous training program to be astronauts and Lunar colonists. So far, only members of the air force are being selected for astronaut training, but anybody can undergo colonist training providing they fit the criteria set down by the NSA.

Government

Last year the King ordered the arrest of every cabinet minister after it was revealed they were plotting acts of high treason against the crown by attempting to establish connections to being the research and development of nuclear weapons for the Norse Kingdom. All were found guilty pending a further hearing to decide their sentencing.

The five ringleaders have been sentenced to death by beheading in Copenhagen Vestre Fængsel courtyard at dawn tomorrow. The King himself will act as the headsman, in a quote to N.K.S.N after the sentencing he says; "The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword."

His insistence of being the executioner for the guilty men has received criticism and praise across the nation as his decision divides the feelings of many.

Other ministers charged with last years conspiracy will face jail terms of up to forty years each of hard labour on Bornholm.

Also in the news

The Umbrella Corporation has resurfaced in the Kingdom after nearly twenty years of mystery after its CEO, Alice Wesker made her company a key asset of the now defunct Imperial Commonwealth of Umbrella, a continent spanning Empire in South America. After a failed invasion of Britain, Weskers Empire began to crack and crumble under the financial strain her adventure placed on it and the resulting civil war, which saw the usage of nuclear weapons by rebels and Imperial forces resulted in the Commonwealth vastly reducing its power projection until it finally dissolved and Umbrella and its CEO, vanished off the face of the earth.

Miss Wesker seemingly arrived the Kingdom and has since been rebuilding her portfolios and has reopened for business. Umbrella Corporation has returned to its roots as a pharmaceutical company, mainly producing medicines for tropical diseases and virus's, although it is now, after acquiring  a Government contract, spearheading efforts in cancer research.

Umbrella Corporation has also offered its new facilities on Bornholm as a potential research base for the joint Prussian and Norse clean energy projects. Whilst no confirmation has been provided by the Governments of Prussia or King Frederik, it is widely believed to be only a matter of time before a meeting is held to discuss the possibilities.

Many have, however criticized the Government for allowing Miss Wesker to set up shop here in the Kingdom and bring back the Umbrella Corporation, mainly due to the controversial manner in which her administration invaded Britain and used nuclear weapons on its own people.

In a statement to N.K.S.N she had this to say.

"I am here now in the Norse Kingdom to simply conduct business. Politics is a game for younger, fresher minds than mine. I am returning to what I know and that is pharmaceuticals. I am fifty years old now and soon my daughter will succeed me with the family business when I am gone. What I did was long ago and most of it was for the greater good of South America and the Malvinian people. But other actions of mine will haunt me to my last breath."

Government:

Parliament today passed a bill which would decriminalize the usage of all narcotics. The law, if it comes into effect will allow the Government to create special economic zones in which the usage of narcotics would be legal.

The plan is for the Government to begin producing chemically stable and pure narcotics and sell them in these S.E.Z's to drug users, who will be monitored under a controlled environment. However many have called this irresponsible and potentially dangerous, to which the Government has said:

"Once you enter the S.E.Z to partake in the usage of narcotics, you will not leave until you are off the product."

What he means is that one of the conditions for entering the special economic zone to use narcotics, is that you will not be able to leave the zone until you have kicked the habit with the help of the support staff who will work in the zones. Punishment for breaking the rules is said to be hard, but nothing has been finalized but punishment for the usage of narcotics outside of the S.E.Z carries the sentence of ten years hard labour.

The King

King Frederik today came clean about a certain ill kept  secret. His Majesty has been snapped in photographs pushing a pram around the royal enclosure. It is known that the King has no wife or consort, so what does this mean?

Well today he told us.

"A few years ago when I was in the Army and never dreamed of an independent Norse state, I visited a certain bank and made a certain deposit. Some lady who took out the deposit ended up with twins, but sadly passed away. She had no partner. Given the situation and my position as King now, I personally saw to it that the children be brought to me in this scenario, and as such they have been reclaimed by myself into the Royal Family, as they are mine own blood.

Crown Prince Albert Henrik Frederik Christian and Princess Ada Margrethe Alexadrine Ingrid are to be raised in the royal household, educated out of my pocket and both will serve the Norse people when they come of age."

The two new additions to His Majesty's family come as a shock for many, but it does ensure that he has heirs to continue his dynasty on the throne.

"We applaud the Norse Government for decriminalizing narcotics, although we question the virtual confinement of drug-using citizens within the special economic zones."

Official Response (Independent of NKSN)

The confinement of drug using citizens is aimed at keeping them in one place to keep the streets clear and safe. Within these SEZ's, they will always be within three minutes of an ambulance in the event of an accidental overdose or reaction. It also allows for medical services to hand out requested narcotics from trusted and safe sources, including the handing out of sterile medical equipment like hypodermic needles.

The Kingdom enjoys a low percentage of drug users, but by confining them in special zones, we can control the substance, its purity and the drug users in a safe manner. In addition to more anti drug campaigns in schools and other public spaces, we aim to utterly remove the element of drug abuse within the Kingdom within the next twenty years. But at the end of the line, this scheme is about saving lives and reducing crime.

The first pilot schemes will take place next year on a small scale and after another year, a further decision will be made to continue to program or scrap it.

Signed

Anders Martinssson.

Foreign Secretary

Nearly a year on from the last moon mission, a third compartment with a third crew has been launched. The "lab" will become a focal point of the lunar installation and will be continually expanded. The spacecraft ferrying the crew and compartment is also to "tow" two more satellite compartments to a lunar orbit where they will be remotely landed onto the base.

One will contain further supplies, the other will be a fourth compartment as well as enough prefab materials to construct an indoor, acclimatized garden to create a self sustaining food source. This will be continuously expanded over the years to provide more food for the larger crew.

The next mission, planned for nine months time, will simply be a cargo run of supplies and prefab buildings.

citadel_zps4f0a11b7.jpeg

Construction has today begun on a new military and civilian administration center in Copenhagen.

Dubbed "The citadel" after its striking resemblance to the Combine Citadel in Valve's hit game, Half Life 2, the enormous tower will house all of the administration of the Kingdom from a civilian side and the military.

As N.K.S.N understands, the tower will go deep underground as well as extend to nearly one kilometers into the sky, making it potentially the largest man made building on the planet. Following designs from chief military architects and designers, the Citadel is said to withstand all but the most powerful of assaults and state of the art security systems will prevent incursion into the building itself by those entity's that would seek to harm the Kingdom.

Expected to take nearly ten years to build and a further five years to bring it too full operational status. The citadel will include space to house the entire contingent of the newly formed Civil Protection Agency, a force that will soon replace the police force across the Kingdom as well as several hangers to house a fleet of newly designed helicopters for the CPA.

King Frederik declined to offer a statement to elaborate the construction.

Three manned missions to the moon are being undertaken after multiple launches over the past few months to prepare the Lunar Installation for the next phase of operations.

The manned missions will include nearly fifty men and women to build, , operate and maintain the Lunar Mine, the materials for which are in orbit over the moon until they are remotely brought to the Moons surface for construction.

Using the same modular techniques as previous constructions, it will take another several trips for all the modules to be taken to the moon and constructed, and a further five years for the mine to become fully operational.

In the meantime, the NSA has begun the design process for  four large "space freighters" to ferry produce from the lunar surface to refineries on Earth. However the NSA is expected to also seek a meeting with representatives of Tianxias space agency to discuss the purchase of freighters, or to arrange a deal to allow Norse materials to be piggybacked on Tianxia freighters back to Earth.

Whilst it is known that no such approach as been made to the Chinese, it is expected that the King will grant permission for the NSA to seek a meeting with the Chinese to discuss the matter at length.

it was announced today that his Majesty, after much deliberation concluded to pulling a diplomatic one eighty in regards to the UN. Previously stating that he would not recognize its authority and would continue to rely on Athens and Russia arbitration for matters. However, his u-turn now places the Norse people in full support of the UN, and he is even making a bid to have Nordboerne Kongedømme voted as the representative of Europe at the organization.

The RAF is set to replace its F-16 fleet of aircraft with a newer, home grown designed fighter aircraft. Little is known of the new aircraft apart from that it has entered its mass production stage. Plans on what to do with the F-16's have been announced however.

They will enter the market to be bought by other states, and if they are not bought within the year, they will be scrapped.

In other news, after a meeting with Parliament, His Majesty signed into law a change in the recruitment age for the military. Previously, a young person aged 16 could join the military with parental consent, but changes in attitudes in Parliament and the increase of protests by reform group "Say no to child soldiers", forced an online petition to raise the recruitment age to 18, bringing it in line with drinking, gambling and voting. This new law also saw another law come into effect, which is the mandatory continuation of education or training until the age of 18 years old to avoid unemployment.

However, this change in the law also saw the national reservist register drop by nearly a quarter from just under a million reservists, to three quarters of a million. With budgetary plans underway to reduce the list of reservists to a more manageable number and increase the size of the regular army from 11,700 to 50,000 soldiers, many are critical of the Kings decision. Military experts are convinced that a larger regular army and smaller reservist list, will allow for greater flexibility in combat and humanitarian roles.

It is thought that most of the reservists will be recruited to the CPA, or Civil Protection Agency. The CPA is an organization still growing in size and will reach its full potential and complete the takeover of law enforcement from the Police at around the same time the Citadel reaches its final stages of completion and operation. All Police Forces across the country are presently undergoing CPA training so when the transfer is completed, they can continue in their role as part of the CPA, having been given priority status on the employment lists in the CPA.

At completion, the CPA is estimated to have nearly a million officers under its command. It will replace all Public Services by 20XX.

In Prussia

Talks concluded last month between Prussian Chancellor Muller and His Majesty which resulted in closer ties between the Kingdom and the Prussians. Plans have been unveiled in relation to a joint energy power grid and increased co-operation between law enforcement agencies in the borders. Other publicized reports of the meeting discussed closer ties at a military level and the operation of annual joint military exercises, although the latter has yet to be confirmed by the Ministry of Defence or its Prussian counterpart.

But what does this mean?

Well experts say that some topics of conversation in these "reports" are the first few steps on the road to an alliance with Prussia, although until the full details of the meeting are released to Parliament next week, it would only be speculation.

The Leviathan mobile Lunar installation entered a stage of operation today as it the final components were installed. The Lunar Installation will now travel the Lunar surface taking samples from its deep core drills for the eventual development of a Lunar mine. Scouting vehicles such as the one below, will be used for wide ranging operations on the Lunar Surface and exploration of former Lunar Empire facilities.

Breaking News

The Fourth Republic of Poland has collapsed into anarchy, Athenian forces are already in Polish streets securing the territory to prevent widespread disruption.

The collapse follows what appeared to be massive military expenditure on its newly acquired naval base following the war in which Poland aggressively sought to recover lands that are rightfully Prussian under the auspices of historical claim. The news, now spread far and wide across the Kingdom has kindled great happiness in the military and the families of those killed in the defence of Prussia against the illegal war launched by Poland against our ally.

The Government has announced that all reserves are to stand down, and the military is to return to a peacetime stance of readiness.

The final victory over Europe's deadliest threat to peace was won not by force of arms, but by Poland's insatiable appetite for conflict and its never ending preparation for war against Prussia and the Kingdom to achieve its failed goal. The weight of its own military expendature crushed it.

Breaking News

Copenhagen was rocked today by a large bomb attack against the Royal Enclosure. It is reported that two men drove to the main gate in a van before being stopped by guards belonging to the First Danish Life Guards Regiment.  It was then that the bombers detonated the explosives.

Sixteen soldiers have been confirmed killed, and a further fifty two are in critical conditions in military hospitals. Civilian casualties are estimated to be in the hundreds due to the timing of the attack, which took place in rush hour.

It is believed to have been a failed assassination attempt on His Majesty the King.

No group has claimed responsibility, though early reports suggest it may be Polish expatriate who blame the Kingdom and Prussia for the collapse of their nation, although this cannot be verified.

More updates will be released as this story develops.

Breaking News

As we all know, our military at this moment in time is involved with a multinational military operation against Noord-Unie Staat. Three days ago, Bergen and Stavanger were captured following the opening hours of the action.

In the early hours of this morning, Oslo fell following savage street to street fighting between Norse forces and surviving elements of the Noord military within Oslo, as well as militia and Police forces. In the battle, Norse Special Forces successfully captured the regional Government.

In there place, Colonel Kurtz of the Parachute Division, has been made the military Governor of Oslo, Admiral Oakenshield, the supreme Norse Governor General of Norway until military operations have ended and a plebiscite is held to conclude the future of the territory has this morning issue a statement.

'Military operations are on going at this time. I am not obliged to release any further details about our advance. However, I can confirm that since the initiation of hostilities, one hundred and seventy eight Norse servicemen have been killed in action. Their next of kin has been informed.

Military action will continue until such a time that I deem combat operations are over and it is safe enough for a referendum to be held to decide the future of the territory in conjunction with Athenian and Swedish representatives.'

Victory in Norway

A special message from King Frederik

'Citizens of this Kingdom, we have been at war for a long time. From the Polish invasion of our allies in Prussia, to terrorist attacks on Copenhagen itself and now, most recently, in Norway to remove radical elements responsible for the attempted assassination of the Prince of Orange and Duchess of Luxembourg. That was why we went to war, such a dangerous and extreme state could no longer be permitted to govern our Scandanavian bretherin, our Norse bretherin.

With the co-operation of our friends in Sweden and Iceland, the threat was eliminated and Norway was liberated, its people free from the oppression which was reminicient of the Greater Germanic Empire and its fascist tendencies.

This mission was not completed without cost. Three hundred and seventy two servicmen belonging to various branches of our armed forces died fighting this threat to the very freedom and security of Europe itself. This sacrifice shall forever be enshrined in the halls of the dead alongside our honoured fallen from past conflicts. Nearly four thousand of our soldiers lie wounded, grevious life changing injuries for many of them, and they shall receive nothing but the full and unequivical support from the Crown and the military. These men shall never be found wanting services, and shall never be shunned or forgotten.

So now I turn my statement to the topic of Norway and its territorial integrity. Lengthy discussions with the Swedish Government and military commanders on the ground resulted in a decision of partition. Our own Kingdom has annexed southern Norway, Sweden has annexed the north. This decision arose out of population distribtion, infrastructure and sympathies within the population itself following investigations and public opinion polls. These polls resulted in a territorial referendum which decided how the borders would be drawn. Plans are also being made between our Government and the Swedish government to enact policies mirroring our own with Prussia to cement a solid relationship across Scandanavia and which are in keeping with our own values of travel freedom.

As the moment, preparations are being made for elections to be held across our Norwegian territories to ensure a fair representation in Parliament, and the creation of a devolved Government based in Oslo to handle regional governance. The Norwegian language, much like modern Danish, is to be granted special protected status within our laws, and High Norse will be gradually introduced to the Norwegian territories with free classes available for anybody who wishes to learn and it will not become manditory to be taught in schools as a language for five years to allow time for transition and settlement. Furthermore, work is being undertaken to slowly begin intergrating the Norwegian provinces into the Kingdom with minimal disruption to the day to day lives of its citizens.

I salute the soldiers, airmen and sailors of this Kingdom, Sweden, Iceland and Athens for the sacrifices made responding to the aggression displayed against Athens, and I am honoured to belong to this European community of nations, all alligned against the evils of fascism, totalitarianism and oppression of free peoples.

After lengthy negotiations between Athens and the Kingdom, it was concluded and made public today, that Iceland has been placed under Norse rule. This conclusions comes after nearly a year of talks held between high level dignitaries of both states following the mutually beneficial relationship which developed between Athens and Copenhagen following the war against Norway and the war against Poland.

The Second Royal Danish Parachute Division has been deployed to Iceland as an immediate security presence whilst preparations are made for a civilian mission to begin the internal process of annexation.
