War Tactics

Recommended Posts

Hello all, you may all be thinking "Oh Great, another stupid proposal that I don't want to think about/is not realistic"
I have thought over this and reviewed what Tournament Edition is about, War.
I feel as if there isn't enough WAR or War Tactics in TE. I propose WAR TACTICS!

Firstly, War Tactics can add a whole new strategy to the game. Each Tactic could have an effect on the outcome of wars, economy and the nations.
Secondly, It would make people THINK about how to use their Tactics for war.

:nuke:PROPOSED TACTICS!! :nuke:

Blitzkreig- The BEST for War.

POSITIVE +20% Soldier Efficency, +4% NS, 12% More Damage by Cruise Missiles, +2% Higher Success rate for Battles, Tanks do 1.5% more damage
NEGATIVE (You didn't think it would be THAT good did you?) -17% Total Avg. Income, +4% Military Costs (Upkeep and Purchase)

Guerilla- Good for Weak Nations in Perpetuel War

POSITIVE +25% Soldier Efficency, -13% Soldier Costs (Upkeep and Purchase), Guerilla Camp Improvement is 50% Cheaper
NEGATIVE -6% Air and Naval Battle Battle Success, -$3 Income,

Intelligence- For those Nations who want to know everything! Ineffective for those who don't.

POSITIVE Spies are 20% Cheaper, Intelligence Agency improvement is 20% Cheaper, Spy Ops have a 3% Higher Chance of Succeding
NEGATIVE Spy Cap raised by 1, Nuclear Weapons have a 2% Chance of Failing (Thwarted due to a security breach :awesome: )

Normal Tactics- For those who HATE change and want to stay the same

POSITIVE Same as Always
NEGATIVE Same as Always

Peace- For those who don't like war

POSITIVE +5% Economy, +1 Environment
NEGATIVE Battle Odds drop 5%, Nukes cost +$10,000, Soldiers are 15% more Expensive (Upkeep and Costs)

Full Reserves- For those who want to achieve Total Dominance over their Opponents very quickly

POSITIVE Maximum Troop limit raised 3%, +1 Troop for every 2 Troops bought, +6% Higher Battle Success for the first 2 Days of War
NEGATIVE -2 Happiness ($4) if 20% of Total Troops die during the War (Effect lasts during the War), -2% Battle Success after first 2 Days

MORE TO COME! :war:

I like the idea of this :-)

we should all focus on these sort of ideas rather than economic.... TE is all about war, we have alliance wide wars all the time!

I would suggest a drop in price for the MP... But for those nations with a MP comes only 5 nukes, rather than 20-25 :) it would make things more even considering a nation double my size can just swoop in and destroy everything in one blitz!

I like this idea, but isn't it just an extension of DEFCON Level: and Threat Level: with more added to it. Can you add a little more detail on how it would work mate.
example:So if wanted to build spies i'd pick 'Intelligence' buy my spies then select another tactic later on or is this tactic for whole round.

Ok, each tactic is not permanent and can be changed every 5 days/7 days. For example on the Full Reserves Tactic, if Nation A bought up to 3% past his soldier cap, he would keep that if he changed his War Tactic, though he may face a more worried population.

As for this being an extension if DEFCON and Threat Level, well, in a way it could be viewed as that, but then again, DEFCON doesn't help those who want to buy up Spy Agencies. War Tactics would be both helpful to an alliance as they can dedicate certain roles to certain people, and also to individuals as they can set their nation up to build both their economy and defend themselves. Something which DEFCON levels and Threat Levels somewhat succeed at doing.

As for if another player can see your tactic. The only way to see another's Tactic is to use a Spy Op (Gather Information). This Spy Op has in turn, 60% (40% if the nation being spied on has the Intelligence Tactic) of finding the Tactic. If it fails, a Censor bar will replace the area where the info should be.

The Manhattan You want the MP quickly? I got a tactic for you, just ignore the negatives....

POSITIVE MP costs 25% less and doesn't need a Uranium resource, Submarines costs 10% less,
NEGATIVE Nuclear Weapons limited to a Maximum of 5 for the next 15 days, -$6 Income (due to Government Secrecy), DEFCON set to 1

Sorry, I cant edit on my phone.... But, those negatives are pretty heavy, so maybe reduce the cost of the nukes and be able to purchase all 5 at once? That would probably balance the negatives and positives

"Total War/Blitzkreig"

I am sorry to say but they are completely different things :S, one putting everything into a war effort, full mobilisation of civilian population and economy, and the other is a military tactic of armour supported by infantry moving extremely quickly rather than fighting a static front.

I disagree with adding things like this anyway

That's true. I'll edit it.

Manhattan

POSITIVE MP costs 25% less and doesn't need a Uranium resource, Submarines costs 10% less, Nuke purchase cost -7%, Nuke purchase cap +1 (2 Nukes purchased per day)
NEGATIVE Nuclear Weapons limited to a Maximum of 5 for the next 15 days, -$6 Income (due to Government Secrecy), DEFCON set to 1

this seems silly.

How?

Sorry, you're right. Edited that out.

Now, since Round 26 is coming soon, I was thinking of tweaking this proposal.
Tactics could either-

a) Be changed after achieving a certain amount of casualties (Tiered levels, 20% of current population, etc.)

b) Be changed/unlocked after certain conditions are met (Example: MP can only be achieved after obtaining a Uranium Resource, 5 CMs, DEFCON 3 & Threat Level Guarded)

You're mixing tactics, operations, and strategies, and anyone with a background in military history would groan.

Since switching between these (i will call them "modes" because I can't bring myself to insult the english language by calling wartime economic policies and military structural styles "tactics") modes would be VERY easy to powergame, I recommend that they be applied to a certain WAR (actually I recommend this suggestion be scrapped entirely, but let's assume it isn't). Thus, you would declare a war in a particular style, and could not change. Either A. Any other war declared during that war would also be in this style or B. The bonuses would only apply to THAT war, and the economic penalties would stack. When not at war, you could switch between them freely, and not being at war would be a prerequisite for the "peace" option.
