Finnish National Revival and Reconstruction

Recommended Posts

After the War
Even after the Swedish invasion disappeared, hardships continued for the Finnish people. Their country, which was on poor footing before, had been ruined by war. Their proudest cities lay smoking, and the economy was severely damaged. Helsinki, a radioactive wreckage from years ago, was only beginning to be resettled before the war. Many people's homes and businesses were destroyed, and the extent of human damage was enormous. At the same time, anger persisted throughout the population. Why, it was asked, was the Finnish government so weak before foreign aggression? Why, it was asked, did foreign armies land so easily and make war on Finnish soil? Why, it was asked, that the survival of Finland was only guaranteed thanks to Slavorussian intervention?
The questioned government didn't quite know how to answer the questions. So it decided to act.
The state coffers were emptied into the greatest national project ever created for the Finnish people.
Hundreds of billions would be poured into all factors of the economy. Everyone would be employed with this giant injection of money into the Finnish economy. Infrastructure would be revamped: new highways and roads will be constructed to facilitate greater trade - and defense capabilities. Superports will be constructed in Turku and the rebuilt Helsinki. Fallout shelters will be mandatory for every inhabited locale with a population of more than 50 people. Land will be managed to minimize environmental impact. Hospitals will be built.
To boost the morale of the Finnish people, a monument to the War of National Defense will be built in Turku. It will embody the concrete will of the Finnish people- in concrete. A new defense system will constructed: a command base in the center of the nation, hidden underground in a dry location: rare for the Finnish marshes. A nuclear deterrent will be solidified: nuclear silos will be constructed covertly, and Ballistic Submarines will also be constructed to ensure that the Finnish military will have great projection capabilities.
The Finnish military will focus on defense: a great research facility will be adjunct to the command base, where developments in military technology will be studied and analyzed. A system of ICBM-defeating satellites will be deployed in geostationary orbit above Finland, a defense against nuclear aggression. Meanwhile, the state welfare system will be revamped, to provide social and health services to all Finnish citizens from the cradle to the grave.
By putting the Finnish people to work, and developing national defense and infrastructure, the Finnish nation shall be stronger than ever before.

Open Contracts to all Foreign Military Contractors
Finland is currently redeveloping the entire nation after the War of National Defense. We are interested in defense technology and systems, primarily in the fields of:

Land battle armored vehicles-
These vehicles should be heavily armored and defense oriented. High emphasis should be placed on survivability, as well concealment. Movement speed is less important, although mobility through the harsh Finnish terrain will be appreciated.

Naval ships-
We seek littoral vessels to boost the defense capability of the Finnish navy. These ships should have strong short-range offensive and defensive capabilities.

Military aircraft-
Military aircraft of two types are in demand-
1. We seek air superiority aircraft that will be able to secure Finnish sovereign airspace from incursion. Emphasis should be placed on air-to-air effectiveness, as well as speed for interception.
2. We also seek multi-role aircraft that are carrier capable. These aircraft will be operating in the defense role from Finnish aircraft carriers to strike enemy naval and ground targets.

Air defense systems-
We seek stationary emplacements, or mobile launchers that emphasize detection and first-strike-kill ability. SAM/Radar systems are both acceptable, and these should be able to be concealed in the Finnish forest.

The Germanic Union Humanitarian Mission returns from Slavorussia, where it had taken refugee after the war had started. They had been helping deal with the Nuclear Devastation at Helsinki, and will now continue to do so.

However, this time a Military Aide is too sent to talk to the Finnish Leaders. Apparently, he has much to offer in terms of defence.

"We have several things to offer. Firstly, our Main Battle Tank, which suits all land roles intended, but secondly, the Tank Hunter Perkunos, which had been in fact jointly-developed with a previous incarnation of Finland. It is a very mobile, very quick, low profile vehicle with a devastating gun and extremely sloped armor."

"We have a whole batch of other things that you might just find useful..."

We are willing to examine this indigenous technology "Perkunos" with great pleasure.

With public works projects proceeding smoothly and national morale rising due to full employment, Finland was experiencing the beginning of a consumer boom. Many people were diverted back into the private sector while infrastructure projects continued.
Meanwhile, military development ensured tremendous spendings in the defense sector, but the benefits were reaped as well.
Naval submarines are being launched into the Baltic Sea surrounding Finland to provide a defense network.
Heavy industry has now become the focus of military development. While robotics research begins in earnest around academic centers in Finland, the ability to mass produce autonomous defense units has become vital.

Has the combat effectiveness of the air units, especially the F/A 66 and the F/A 47-D been tested? Has there been previous clients for these systems?
We also have enough infrastructure for 6 defense vessels.

With this new fleet, now totaling 55 warships, the Republic of Finland has announced plans to go on a world tour. The fleet is now crossing out of the Baltic, carefully through the mined waters of our ally the Germanic Union. The first destination for our world tour is the United Kingdom. In preparation for this historic encounter, 40,000 extra personnel and 25 squadrons of highly advanced aircraft are being flown to the leased Orkney AFB in preparations for the tour. The 40,000 personnel will be flown in through the use of nearly 100 flights of transport aircraft.

With the military base and research center in Siilinjarvi completed, military analysis on defense became crucial.
Defense of the fleet had been researched by developing anti-ballistic missile interception systems fitted on the air defense destroyers.
However, the unprecedented destruction wreaked on Sokol and the Swedish fleet was cause for concern. No intelligent being considered those actions those of gods or any supernatural being: someone, or some nation, must have fielded weaponry more advanced than anything that is publicly known. Thus, a new development contract went out to the countries that have more established technological developments than any other countries in the world. Also, in this new age of communications, the network has become more important than any military asset. Research is being done to project ways of incapacitating enemy networks.

Contracts posted: (sent securely to advanced nations such as Sri Lanka, Cochin, and the UFE, but replies are not expected)
Recently, there has been reports of unidentified flying objects which have engaged targets in the last Northern War. Although little is known about these objects other than their capacity for great devastation, we require the contract services of a nation to build high technology sensor and tracking equipment in both Finnish space and land assets, providing a provisional capability for greater detection and knowledge about these objects.
All funds necessary are willing to be paid in the interests of national defense.

Royal Cochin Defense Forces offer their expertise in building state of the art Air Defense Network similar to the existing Strategic Air Defense Network of the Royal Cochin Air Force and Strategic Command. RCDF sends Colonel Anatoly Sengupta of Strategic Command to give a demonstration.

Col. Anatoly Sengupta would fly to Helsinki from Bishkek to brief Finnish Armed Forces on the capabilities. On meeting with the top brass of the Finnish Armed Forces Sol. Sengupta would say, "Officers and gentlemen, In today's world, a sound Air Defense is sine qua non with a sound defense of one's realm. In an age of high technology stealth and counter stealth are ever evolving disciplines. To ensure the impregnable defense of one's skies it is indeed valuable to be proficient both in stealth as well as counter stealth technologies. It is indeed a cat and mouse game. There is no absolute stealth and no absolute counter stealth, and at the end of the day all technological advancements become just a matter of attrition and it becomes a test of man's wits. Officers and gentlemen, as world leaders in stealth, we are also world leaders in counter stealth. Perhaps there is anything you wish to ask us to begin with?"

"We wish for the capability to first at least identify what the objects that destroyed the port of Sokol were, as they did not appear on any Finnish sensors. Granted, our military was quite unprepared during the war, but no other nation had any comment on them either. If we gain that capability, then the ability to track their movements, and possibly intercept them would be the final goals of this. Thus, we simply request counter-stealth technical expertise. We recognize our technological lag, but our technology is still quite modern. We simply require of some cutting edge military innovation that our research institutes are incapable of doing."

Due to logistic difficulties in supplying Orkey AFB, realized when a transport was lost with all hands due to the infamous Scottish weather, 15 squadrons of aircraft have been ordered to redeploy from Orkney AFB to Bjornaya AFB, along with 30,000 of the 40,000 soldiers. Bjornaya, being only off the coast of Finland by a few hundred kilometers, is vastly more easy to supply.

The Finnish Great Fleet is now sailing along the coast of the British Isles, impressing upon the British the full power of Finland.

A diplomatic and public message has been issued:
The Republic of Finland has recognized that several other entities have claimed Ireland to be their own, from our ally the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. This tour demonstrates our capability and our willingness to defend our British allies against all incursions of their sovereign rights. The Republic of Finland fully stands behind Great Britain.
The Finnish Fleet, having visited Great Britain, gave a 21 gun salute to the Late King Alfred today.

"It is a sad day for all of us, with the loss of one of the most charismatic rulers of our ally, Great Britain" - Korhonen.

The Finnish Fleet shall now set sail for Bjornoya.

****************************Public************************************
In other news today, President Korhonen has mandated the learning of at least 2 foreign languages by all government and military employees, as well as all secondary and tertiary level students. President Korhonen said that "Our dear Finnish language is a language that we hold dear, but sounds foreign and confusing to others. We must embrace foreign languages to enhance the competitiveness and abilities of the Finnish People. I hereby mandate that all Finnish state employees and students learn both English and Russian. Those who already speak Swedish are only required to learn one of these two main lingua francas of our time."
