Election Results

Triumvir: Thunder Strike

Head of Economics: [s]That rock over there[/s] Ogaden
Head of Foreign Affairs: im317
Head of Internal Affairs: Shadow Slayer
Head of Military Operations: Jenne
Head of Recruitment: Gangs

Thunder Strike will be returning for his fourth term as Triumvir while im317 will be returning for his second term as HoFA and Shadow Slayer will be returning for his third term as HoIA. This election also saw several positions shift hands due to several people choosing to retire from government for now. That rock over there wouldn't answer our phone calls (probably since he is a rock and couldn't pick up the phone or talk) so he got disqualified and Ogaden got the position. Though Ogaden later announced he would take advice from that rock over there. Ogaden is returning to our government to replace cctmsp13 as HoE this time after being retired from government since January. He was formerly HoFA from December 2009 to March 2010, HoIA from April-May 2010, and HoR from June 2010 to January 2011. He has decided to shift positions once again and has become HoE this time. Jenne also returned to government to become our new HoMO to replace Queue1 and was formerly the HoIA from June-November 2010. gangs20003 who had been retired from our little planet for most of the last year and who has recently returned has re-taken up the mantle of HoR from Agent Lemon which he originally held back in February-May 2010.

Captain Planet: Electric Mango
Captain Planet, RIA Representative: Pikachu
Captain Planet, Pikachu's Representative: Kenny's Hair
Captain Planet, Kenny's Hair's Representative: Arsenal 10

Returning for his second term as Captain Planet is Electric Mango who won a five-way election against Arsenal 10, rlrcstrnthusiast, Kenny's Hair, and Pikachu. As Electric Mango is not in the RIA, the second place winner Pikachu became his RIA representative. However as Pikachu is not in the RIA, the third place winner Kenny's Hair became Pikachu's representative in the RIA. However as Kenny's Hair is an inanimate part of a RIA member, Arsenal 10, the fourth place runner-up became it's representative to the RIA.

Full Government Timeline
...and because I'm sure everyone is extremely interested here is the updated timeline of our complete government history. (also found here) >_>

Sanction
For those somehow not aware we did in fact gain sanction a few weeks back. It is something we have had in mind for a long time after originally coming to Planet Bob and seeing that LUE was sanctioned. As our original goal in coming to this planet was to defeat the evil LUE menace (though we ended up losing interest in that quite quickly and they ended up burritos the planet themselves not too long after (well 9 months after) we were formed). Due to this and other random reasons getting sanctioned became one of our long term goals. Nearly 5 years, 42 different governments, 41 different elections, and 9 wars later we finally did it.

After a lengthy debate we choose our sanction flag as:

...and would like to thank the 133 people currently flying it above their nations.

For our pip as I'm sure you have already seen we choose:

You can thank Shadow Slayer for it's creation. We hope you enjoy it while we remain sanctioned. Just be glad that the alternate idea wasn't used.

Thanks

In other news we would also like to publicly thank the SOS Brigade and Farkistan for their offers and assistance in sending rebuilding aid to RIA nations since the end of our involvement in this last war. We love you guys.

The End
VIVA LA RIA! VIVA LA RIVOLUCION!!

tl;dr

Sightings of giant emus have spurred a massive scare in the commodity market which has since taken up condor training to compensate. The evacuating lobster have taken refuge in Greece to escape the coming rapture. This caused the gnomes to create the golden chalice of wisdom to help them in escaping the rampaging flamingos. However a sudden change in barometric pressure caused the flight carrying chocolate to crash land on a remote island on the moon. This caused the mooninites to declare war on the People's Republic of Mars in an attempt to defend themselves from the raging Polar Bears. The Moon-Mars war lasted approximately seventy-six in a half hours before a ceasefire was called. Compensation was given to the grand poobah of Madagascar by both planets for starting the war. The mooninite army returned home and was re-united with their loved ones. And they all lived happily ever after. The End. Seven days later the cow emperor took a truck and defected to Omaha. Due to this the Texas Imperium sanctioned their supply of pencils. Due to the loss of deodorant a large number of choo choo trains had to be smuggled into the Sultanate of Oceania. This plan was successful and the evil lord of sheep was stopped. Thus the sequal ended and everyone once again lived happily ever after.

I saw the short thread title as "Announcement from the Grand..." and thought someone was playing an April Fool's joke about the GGA on us :v:

That's what I was hoping for. This is good too, I guess. I... do not at all remember GUARD. NADC was in a bloc with Sparta and CSN???

I am definitely not old enough to remember GUARD, but I certainly do recognize that picture of a spider (valued at $233.95) from the "Overdue Account" post on 27bSlash6.com, and that spider alone makes this thread awesome.

o/ RIA
o/ 27b/6

On second thought, the two spiders are slightly different. Is that a counterfeit? I wonder if it is still worth $233.95...

NADC and CSN were founding members of GUARD, in fact. The original announcement can be found here: http://z15.invisionfree.com/Cyber_Nations/index.php?showtopic=37233&st=0&#entry5867992.

ONOS, NADC, and CSN were the original three, which were then followed by ASC, TCF, USN, RIA, TTK, and a short-lived Spartan presence.

I remember GUARD fairly distinctly though... notably a great deal of resentment (near the middle and end of its duration) toward Emperor_Charles (who essentially assumed himself to be leader of the bloc) and the rapidly decreasing activity amongst the bloc members. The only thing, in my opinion, that GUARD got right was its sense of a "superiority clause", in which put it above all treaties (though the GUARD agreement itself mandated that no one was allowed to sign MDPs anyways). Other than that, GUARD was also a fairly flimsy bloc that had little to no breadth. When ONOS left the bloc to face its fate via the Old Pacifica, GUARD (once more) proved to be rather ineffective by earnestly doing nothing while one of its founding members (who again did leave prior to) get pounded into disbandment. It was a different time then, naturally, but hindsight does make me rather bitter about the lack of action taken by the bloc way back then.

So although GUARD (at the time) was only second to WUT in terms of stats, I doubt that, at the time, the bloc would have been truly effective if it had actually ever been implemented (which would also have been unlikely as it was a neo-neutralist bloc). Still, good times were had.

Thanks for the memories RIA; always good to reflect upon the past.

EDIT:

Forgot ASC.
