[b][u]ZCNA News: Presidential decree dissolves Parliament[/b][/u] [i]“Hours of speculation have ended this afternoon as His Excellency the President announced a dissolution of the Senate and the National Assembly due to political gridlock which has paralyzed the government since the last election. In an announcement from the Office of the President, a presidential decree was issued clearing the way for an immediate snap election. Prime Minister Grigorova requested the move as a last resort after the failure of the governing coalition to agree on economic matters and on the parameters of the national budget. The Prime Minister’s Justice & Development Party (JDP) will be seeking a strong enough mandate to govern without the support of the Republican People’s Party (RPP) and to block a strong challenge from the European Future Party (EFP). While all pre-election polls have been inconclusive thus far, all parties have stressed the importance and urgency of having a one party governing majority in the National Assembly. The situation in the Senate is viewed as being less important due to the focus on economic policy and reform, so the most closely watched races will be those between candidates in the National Assembly. Additionally, voters will be asked to endorse the convening of a National Consultative Constitutional Assembly (NCCA) to draft a series of amendments to the Zapadnayan Constitution.”[/i]

After acknowledging and accepting the [url="http://forums.cybernations.net/index.php?/topic/124803-zapadnaya-respublika-elections-3/?p=3332349"]invitation[/url] of the Romanian government, Zapadnaya would make the necessary arrangements with Romania to facilitate the President’s trip. Shortly after being sworn in for his second term in Svyatoy Veragorod, President Dragomirov would travel to Sofia, then fly from there to Bucharest. The President would be accompanied by a translator and by Foreign Minister Ivo Draganov. As was customary, the necessary flight and security information would be sent to the Romanian government and their approval sought before the President’s arrival. Less than an hour after leaving Sofia, the Presidential aircraft landed in Bucharest and the President emerged to greet his hosts.

ZCNA News - Third Elections begin "After the lifting of the State of Emergency, Zapadnayan citizens have once again been asked to go to the polls to elect a new government. While the elections have been significantly delayed, reducing the time available for campaigning substantially, it was decided that the elections should proceed without further delay. The Zapadnaya Electoral Council has confirmed that all necessary preparations have been made for the holding of the Presidential and Parliamentary polls. These elections will be the third since the restoration of democracy in Zapadnaya. President Paskal Dragomirov is seeking a new term as President of the Republic and has pledged to lead the charge for the strengthening of the Zapadnayan military and the strengthening of Zapadnaya's diplomatic relationships in the region. In Parliament, Prime Minister Iskra Grigorova is hoping to lead the Justice and Development Party (JDP) to a third Parliamentary majority. The Prime Minister has focused her campaign on achieving sustainable and durable economic growth and expanding exports. With the collapse of the European Community, the European Future Party (EFP) has sought to re frame it's campaign around strengthening ties in Europe in order to boost trade and promote stability. The party has also sought to promote the signing of free trade agreements as key to strengthening trade relationships on the European continent. The party, while not admitting that its support for joining EuroComm may have been mistaken, has acknowledged the 'failure of the stability mechanisms' of the organization."

Voters will be asked to elect the President of the Republic, the members of the National Assembly and the Senate. The Electoral Council has confirmed that early voting is now underway across the country and that the polls will open tomorrow morning at 0830 ZST. President Elena Dobreva, of the European Future Party [EFP] is running for a second term as President of the Republic. She is expected to face a major challenge from the Justice & Development Party’s (JDP) Paskal Dragomirov and the Socialist Party’s (SP) Zlatko Dimitrov. In the National Assembly the outgoing coalition government consisting of the Justice & Development Party (JDP) and the European Future Party (EFP) rejected a proposal for both political parties to present a joint list of candidates and to attempt to form a second coalition government. Instead, both parties will stand independently. Outgoing Prime Minister Iskra Grigorova is confident that the JDP is on course for a parliamentary majority. The situation in the Senate is less clear however, as most pollsters are predicting that the Socialist Party (SP) will likely retain control of the Senate albeit with a reduced majority.”[/i]

ZCNA: Voting begins today "Today, Zapadnayans will take the final step on the road to democracy. With a new Constitution in force, and new political parties, the historic vote will usher in the first civilian government in Zapadnaya since 2010. Across the nation, the 10,615,700 eligible voters have been tasked with voting to elect the next President, Parliament and Senate. The Electoral Council has sought to remind voters that those eligible to vote early will cast their ballots today. All other citizens will be allowed to cast their ballots beginning tomorrow morning. The Council has also reminded political parties that no campaigning may be done at this time."
