New nations may not have more than 3 provinces. Land Expansion: One province may be annexed into a nation every week, and each week is from Sunday to Saturday CN time. There is no post count requirement for annexation, but white space does have resistance and should be economically and militarily incorporated into the new nation to be annexed. If the mapmaker decides these requirements have not been met through RP, they may ask the GM team to make a ruling on it. Activity Requirements: Nations with no activity in 30 days may be treated as white space by any existing or new players. After 60 days, claims can be removed from the map, provided someone notices that the person is missing. Locks may be requested and granted at the discretion of the GM team. IC/OOC Crossing: This is a RP. It is not your life, it does not matter, it's just a game we play on the forums. If you are blatantly and obviously OOC crossing, the GM team may take any action they deem suitable to put the RP back on track. Remember: your OOC friends and enemies should not be your IC friends and enemies, and your actions must be justified by the reality of the IC world. Rerolling: You can reroll any time you'd like. However, doing so requires that you wait a week between your old nation and your new nation, and you will not be on the map during that time. Military: Each province up to 5 provinces gives you 5,000 soldiers each and three points of industry. Provinces between 6 and 20 will give 2,000 soldiers each and a point of industry. Provinces after 20 will give 1,000 soldiers and no industry. Each point of industry may be spent on 5 ships. Every province produces 100 soldiers on the 1st of every IRL month to replenish losses from war. This cannot push you over your soldier cap. Spying: We have no spy rolls. If you want to spy on someone, get their permission. A dice roll will be done to decide the outcome; all spy attempts are 50/50 shots. Losses must be RP'd out. Protectorates: Nations may not protect more provinces than they own. A province in the process of being annexed counts as a protected province. The GM Team: There are 3 GMs. They are elected, serve 3 month terms, and can only be members of the RP/can only be nominated by members of the RP/can only be voted on by members of the RP. The GM team can, through unanimous vote, start a vote to ban someone from the RP. If they do this, the community votes and majority rules. All votes for anything require 72 hours of voting time and must be public. Nomination periods are also 72 hours long. The GM team is responsible for posting important threads, arbitrating disputes, making dice rolls to decide damage/spy outcomes, and other miscellaneous things. The GM team does not create a body of precedents. New Rules: Any member of the community may propose alterations to the rules by making a new thread. The GM team is responsible for gauging interest and making a vote thread if people seem to want the change. The Elastic Clause: In any case where I've forgotten something, the word of the GM team rules the day. If you are being a dick or otherwise being disrespectful or attempting to eLawyer your way around things, stop doing that !@#$ because you're making the RP suck. This is a community RP and the people here are real: don't be disrespectful, don't take things too seriously, and cooperate with your fellow RPers or get the $%&@ out. [/spoiler]

Doge Mariano pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration. Several of the Patrician families, all the way up to Lord Mayor Oberto himself, had filed complaints over trade vessels being captured or destroyed. They had secured several contracts to deliver supplies to some Crusaders for a bunch of over ambitious young rulers and their attempt to seize a region of North Africa. Al-Andalus apparently did not approve of the attempts to resupply their enemies and targeted vessels that followed their orders to “deliver at all costs.” Now Lord Mayor Oberto wanted Mariano to wage war with Al-Andalus over the ordeal, which was to be expected from the hot headed man. However, the campaign in Mallorca consumed too many resources for the time being, not that Mariano even wanted to fight a war over some ships lost in a high risk deal. Instead, another option would be pursued, one that wouldn't please Oberto but could tie up another loose end. Mariano dipped his quill in ink and took it to the parchment before him. Doge Mariano reviewed his written statement, and when content it contained all it needed, called for the newly appointed envoy to Al-Andalus, Galeotto di Cagliari, to take it to the ship which waited to take him to the Tangiers.

Internal It hadn't been an easy time for the Moors. Their empire, which had stretched across the Iberian Peninsula, had been reduced to a handful of provinces around the highly profitable but annoyingly tiny Straits of Gibraltar. This wasn't because of the Europeans, those idiots couldn't put on their armor without some brainless priest to tell them how to do it. A plague had visited Al-Andalus, and had left corpse after corpse in its wake, until the living began to envy the dead. But, as all plagues did, this one burned itself out, becoming yet another footnote on the blood-spattered pages of history. Andalus was also about to become such a footnote, unless something changed, fast. Al-Andalus had become a small speck of order, trapped between the chaos of Africa, and the plague-ridden wastes of Spain. Who would guide this storm battered ship to safety? None other than the new Caliph, Ali ibn Makhluf al-Gumi of the Almohad Dynasty.

After the collapse of the mainland kingdoms and empires, some of the islands of the Mediterranean were able to maintain order. Among those were Sardinia and Corsica, the former split in half along the old lines of counts who made a transition to Doges after the collapse of Pisa. Corsica became a petty kingdom under its own former count following the Holy Roman Empire’s downfall. The three entities maintained their Italian and Catholic identities, and longed to keep those entities strong where the other empires and kingdoms had failed. Now, months of work had finally come to fruition. The guiding hand of Doge Mariano Torchitorio of Arborea brought the unification of Sardinia and Corsica with the Treaty of Cagliari, without the long expected bloodshed between Arborea and Corsica. It was all thanks to Doge Torcotore, the Doge of Caglari, who made the decision to side with Doge Mariano instead of the Petty King of Corsica, Oberto di Parma. Aware that Corsica would be unable to go through with their conquest of Arborea with Cagliari against them, King Oberto agreed to Mariano’s proposal to discuss the peaceful option to settle their differences. Long negotiations led to an outcome unexpected by all those besides Doge Mariano; an agreement was reached that the three entities should become one under a Provincial Federation. King Oberto would make the a transition to a Lord Mayor, House di Parma remaining the predominant House in Corsica. The House orders within Arborea and Caglari would also remain as is, however the agreement left Doge Torcotore a Lord Mayor within the new Federation. Doge Mariano would maintain the title and overarching lordship over the new domain, but with more limited authority outside of his House’s personal holding of Arborea. Upon vacancy of the Doge position, the agreement stated, a new Doge would be elected by majority of the three Patricians. This new order would be called the Provincial Trading Federation of Sardinia and Corsica. With the new sovereign state created and the squabbling of the three provinces muted, Doge Mariano looked to the greater goal: setting the Federation on its course of grand power through commerce potential. There stood however much in the way. The shattered Iberian states to the west were Muslim, and their reconsolidation was inevitable, as was always the case. To the east Pagans were beginning to organize against the remnants of the Byzantine Empire. A Jewish kingdom rose up from the long contested holy region of Jerusalem. But most bothersome to Doge Mariano was the uncollapsed Serene Republic of Venice, a rival of the old Republic of Pisa, to which Doge Mariano still loathed. It stood as a direct challenge to the ambitions of the Federation, and it was only a matter of time until their interests met each other in great opposition. But those were all issues for another time. Doge Mariano was more interested in the Taifa of Majorca, or what used to be, on the Balearic Islands. The Emirate’s Islamic leadership was weakened by the collapse of the greater Moorish empire, and the significant Roman Catholic population was beginning to seize villages relatively uncontested as Emir Ali fell his fracturing forces back to his stronghold to consolidate power. A force of 3000 Federation soldiers were to be sent with 10 Pisan Dromons to encourage the federalization and incorporation of the islands under a Catholic patrician’s rule.

Duke Bolesław II rode to his Northern border and looked out over it with distaste. It wasn't that it existed, per-say, that bothered him, no, the existence of a northern border was a perfectly normal, healthy thing, but it was depressingly dry ever since Pomerania had separated with him (1060) and furthermore, due to Pomerania's separation, enemies now existed on that side of the line. He turned to his second, a rather ambitious Baron, by the name of Sclaryscsz, with a very serious expression, "What is the size of our muster?" he asked the man, knowing somewhat what the answer was. "Milord, we can at best muster twenty thousand men, I suspect that some of our numbers should be faulty since the last we got a comprehensive answer was some years ago." the man says, looking a little worried by his lord's odd demeanor, "Your Grace, what is it that you plan to do? You've been distant ever since your brother died." the event had been a year ago and had given him some great amount of land but it had made him sorrowful, many had been worried about his health. "You shouldn't worry, I'm quite well." the duke says, turning and beginning to ride slowly back towards Poznan, "Pomerania has been rebellious for far too long." he continued, "We have allowed them legitimacy because we haven't destroyed them, it's time that we change that, we've wallowed too long without a seaport. I wish to see them brought under my heel once more." "Your Grace, are you suggesting that I should muster the armies?" the Baron turned with him and rode alongside, "The drużyna and your nobility will likely resist such a move milord, they've sat idle for a long while and-" "I don't care." he waves away concern, "There is much to do and we don't have long to do it."

By the Order of Emperor Constantine X Doukas of Byzantine 1066 is a cherished year for the Byzantine Empire. It is a year of serenity through conquering. While in the seat of Emperor since 1059, Constantine X has done much for the Byzantine Empire. Much to the hatred of many, X has weakened our armed forces and has focused on more "immediate" problems in the society. He has been unwealthy since he came to power and has brought this same to the Empire itself. However, by Order of Constantine, he has ordered the dismissing of another 11,000 warriors from the armed forces, not including his recent disbanding of a Militia standing at 55,000 men strong, and at a crucial time even.

The Hanseatic League formed quite a bit earlier than expected, due to the turmoil across Europe. Hamburg and Lübeck had been trading ports as it stood, and the cities relationship had grown close upon a governmental level as well. Holstein was nearby and invited to join this new idea of a commonwealth of city states, with a focus on Trade over merely conquering. Of course, not everyone had gotten the memo. Obotritia had been stirring up trouble, and it came to Grand Mayor Otello Adlerfügel that they planned to incite a war against the new League. Rather than wait for them to gather strength and strike. The 15 galleons of the Hanseatic Fleet set out from Lübeck, and would seek out any vessels leaving Obotritia, capturing them if possible. At the same time, An 8,000 man army led by Georg Kleemann would begin to launch their invasion of the Obotritian provinces, They would soon find the Hanseatic League to be their liking, whether by their own choice or not.
