So, it is that time of year. Summer is at its warmest and all are enjoying the warmth of the sunlight. But everyone knows what is coming - even if you aren't a child, you are bombarded with advertisements for that time of year - Back to School. From now, until September 4th, we will be donating funds to various pages set up on Donors Choose, a site where teachers post projects that they would like for their classrooms. The projects featured on the donation page will be ones I have picked out from a random selection of High Poverty schools across the US. Before I provide the donation info, I should share with you some information about Donors Choose: About Donors Choose 1. How do I know this is going to an actual teacher/classroom/whatever? Donors Choose requires teachers to submit proof that they teach where they say they do. They typically contact the princpal of the school or the board of education for the district to verify that the teacher was authorized to post the project. 2. How do I know the teacher won't steal all of these supplies? Well, Donors Choose requires teachers to post an itemized list that is priced out for what they need. When the amount needed is met, Donors Choose will buy the products and send them to the school, not the teacher. 3. What happens if the one I donate to doesn't reach its goal? This happens sometimes. If it doesn't reach its goal, you can do one of three things: Choose a new project to support. Have Donors Choose pick a project for your money to support. Send the teacher you supported a Donors Choose Gift Card in the amount you donated. 4. What kind of schools are we donating to? Good question! Well, I chose six five projects close to random as possible, while looking for areas marked as high poverty. The places chosen (as can be seen below) are (and this list can and will change as projects are fulfilled): PS 94 W Hertel Academy - Buffalo, NY (This project ran out of time and went unfulfilled) Rio Rancho Middle School - Rio Rancho, NM (Fulfilled thanks to a donation from CN) G B Swift Elementary Specialty School - Chicago, IL (Fulfilled thanks to donations from CN) Miami Gardens Elementary School - Miami, FL Ann Street Elementary School - Newark, NJ (This one has been fulfilled thanks to a generous CN donor) Northwoods Elementary School - Jacksonville, NC (This one was fulfilled while I was typing up the post) Rafael Hernandez School - Roxbury, MA D Newlin Fell Elementary School - Philadelphia, PA Terence C Reilly School #7 - Elizabeth, NJ Garfield Elementary School - Yakima, WA Expeditionary School Community Leaders - Brooklyn, NY Eastlawn Elementary School - Rantoul, IL Downey School - Harrisburg, PA Robert T. Hill Middle School - Dallas, TX Ft Chiswell Middle School - Max Meadows, VA Thomas Jefferson-Newcomers - Cleveland, OH (Filled thanks to a generous CN donor) Garden Grove Elementary School - Reseda, CA Brown International Academy - Denver, CO Franklin Elementary School - Provo, UT Bradley Tech & Trade School - Milwaukee, WI James Rhoads Elementary School - Philadelphia, PA 5. I'M NOT AMERICAN, BROS SO I DON'T HAVE A CREDIT CARD! Well, calm down. DonorsChoose also accepts PayPal and Amazon Payments. 6. Is this tax deductible? Yep! Information is available on their site. 7. My question wasn't answered here! Answer my question now! :( Well, post it in here, query me on IRC, or ask it in #bootleg on coldfront. I'm always on IRC as bros|avay - don't let the avay fool you, I am usually there. So. Now for the good stuff. How do I donate? Well, now that is simple. I have a page set up here. The link is http://www.donorschoose.org/cndonate When you click it, you should see a page that looks like this:

If you enter your donation amount in the top, let's say, $15, it will pick what it deems to be the project in most urgent need of being fulfilled - usually whatever is furthest from the goal or closest to the end date. You can scroll down below, however, and look at the ones I have selected and donate to those. As those disappear, I will put more school supply projects up, to provide variety.

ONLY THREE DAYS LEFT TO DONATE - http://mycharitywater.org/cngrandgive DONATE TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Where will the money go? 100% of your donation will fund clean water projects. Once complete, we’ll prove it with photos and GPS." Hello everyone, it is wartime in Cyber Nations and we are all focused on the fun of war, but we should time some time out of nuking and launching ground attacks against other nations and bickering with each other on IRC or the forums to look at the real world for a minute - What about the less fortunate people in this world? The charity that won the vote was charity:water, so it will be the charity that is the subject of the donation drive.. If you are unfamiliar with charity: water, please read the bottom of the post for info. A variety of alliances have been contacted regarding this drive and all alliances contacted support this drive overwhelmingly. Starting today and ending approximately two months from today, on Friday, May 17th the donation drive will be going on, with stats being updated weekly. I will also post totals of how each alliance is doing. This is not a competition and the real winners are the people who get the assistance they need. The goal is to raise money for an outstanding charity that helps people around the world. So please donate what you can to support this charity and give yourself that warm and gooey feeling you get when you do something nice for someone else. To donate, click here Amount Raised: $1760 Current Goal: $2000 Donation Information: Note #1: You will be donating the money directly to the charity Note #2: Methods of donation include: PayPal Credit Card Note #3: Remember, charitable donations are tax deductible in most countries. In order for people to know who you are, put your username and alliance name in the comments. AND CHECK ANONYMOUS IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR NAME TO SHOW UP. Or put your CN name for first name and alliance for last name. Here are what the different tiers of donations do: If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in this topic Description
http://www.charitywater.org/ Description of Charity: It's hard not to think about water today. In the western world, we face growing concerns about our stewardship of the world's most precious resource. There's talk of shortages, evidence of reservoirs and aquifers drying up, and of course, plenty of people who simply don't care. But forget about us. Most of us have never really been thirsty. We've never had to leave our houses and walk five miles to fetch water. We simply turn on the tap, and water comes out. Clean. Yet there are 800 million people on the planet who don't have clean water. It's hard to imagine what 800 million people looks like really, but one in nine might be easier. One in nine people in our world doesn't have access to the most basic of human needs. Something we can't imagine going 12 hours without. Here, we'd like to introduce you to a few of those 800 million. They are very real, and they need our help. They didn't choose to be born into a village where the only source of water is a polluted swamp. And we didn't choose to be born in a country where even the homeless have access to clean water and a toilet. We invite you to put yourself in their shoes. Follow them on their daily journey. Carry 80 pounds of water in yellow fuel cans. Dig with their children in sand for water. Line up at a well and wait eight hours for a turn. Now, make a decision to help. We're not offering grand solutions and billion dollar schemes, but instead, simple things that work. Things like freshwater wells, rainwater catchments and sand filters. For about $20 a person, we know how to help millions. http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=12548 tl;dr: 81.4% of revenue spent on program expenses, 8.4% on administrative, 10.1% on fundraising (7 cents on the dollar). 16 mil in revenue last year, 11.5 mil in expenses, excess of 4.4 million. So back in February, we raised $1760 for charity: water, an organization that helps to provide water to developing countries and areas with poor access to water. The other day, I received a progress update.

Here we go: http://cnib-group.com/bros/index.html You can stream and download it there BE WARNED THERE IS OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE PEPPERED THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE BROADCAST AND AROUND 4.5 TO 5 HOURS IN PEOPLE STOP ASKING QUESTIONS SO WE START TALKING ABOUT RANDOM CRAP So people keep querying me telling me "BROOOOS DO A RADIO SHOW FOR THE WAR" Well I was tired two nights ago so I didn't do it. Last night I was busy with the MK Server. So tonight's the night. starting at 9 PM Eastern (8 PM CN Time), bros will go on the air in #CNIB on coldfront. Music will play for an hour and a half (or so) Then around 10 PM CN time, we'll begin talking. Who will be on the show? Whoever I can wrangle on skype. Probably a bevy of MK members and people who no longer play CN, so for the part of the show tonight discussing the war, why not have some people from all sides of the web/war come on? So, whoever is going to be on from around 10 PM CN time (11 PM Eastern) to around 12:30 AM CN Time (1:30 AM Eastern) from any alliance and wants to come on skype i.e. come on the radio, query me on IRC, or post in here. Be warned, the entirety of the show will NOT be about CN. We will discuss the war and answer any questions you guys may have about virtually anything (even what our favorite lunch meat is, if you wish to know). The discussion is completely listener driven. If suggestions are not given, we WILL start talking about random crap We will also be playing games with our listeners, such as Cards Against Humanity and Board Game Online. Maybe we'll play some scrabble too, who knows. For those who cannot/don't want to use IRC, I will be posting the streaming details in this topic right around when I get on the air. EDIT: THE INFO ON HOW TO TUNE IN IS ALREADY IN #CNIB TIMETABLE: 8 PM CN Time (9 PM Eastern, 6 PM Pacific, 2 AM GMT) - Show starts (Music Portion) Approximately 9:30 PM CN Time (10:30 PM Eastern, 7:30 PM Pacific, 3:30 AM GMT) - Music Ends, talking begins 12 AM CN Time (1 AM Eastern, 10 PM Pacific, 6 AM GMT) - Update Approximately 2 AM CN Time (3 AM Eastern, 12 AM Pacific, 8 AM GMT) - Show ends (Bros needs to sleep) TUNE IN HERE: Open a media player of your choice Click File Open URL Enter http://50.116.56.164:8001 into the box into the box Click OK You should be tuned in YOU CAN ALWAYS TUNE IN ON ANDROID AND iOS DEVICES

So for a while, Planet Bob hasn't really had a radio. CNIB started out strong, then fizzled out when people didn't get as high a listener count as some of the more popular Radio Personaliities of CN (Brehon). Bootleg was consistently strong, but didn't have the constant programming of CNIB, which left something to be desired. So back in March/April, Bros and Brehon began tossing around the idea of a merger of the radios, which eventually lead to CNIB being absorbed by Bootleg, because of the infrastructure already in place for Bootleg Radio. It's taken a while, and quite a bit of preparation, but now Brehon and Bros are proud to announce the grand reopening of Bootleg Radio. We have a 24/7 AutoDJ playing whatever random music Brehon and I felt like uploading at the time, so please give us suggestions as to what to upload. Tune in at http://bootlegmedia.com:8000/index.html?sid=1 and join us in #bootleg for a good time! We are currently looking for: DJs Graphic Artists Vocal Personalities (Think doing little commercials/spots for the station) Creative Personailities (To write Gaming News Articles and create the commercials/spots. You don't have to be able to do both, but it would be appreciated) tl;dr Bootleg is back and better than ever. We have vacanies in all positions, so come to our shiny new forums at http://bootlegmedia.com (click on the logo)

We provide families with clean water and sanitation, we vaccinate against childhood illness, and we help protect children against malaria. We provide nourishment to fight malnutrition, and we care for children affected by AIDS. We protect children from abuse, and we give them an education. We are here to make sure that all children lead a healthy, humane, and dignified life. We help individual animals in distress and win policy changes that provide long-term protections. Founded in 1969, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) works to improve the welfare of wild and domestic animals throughout the world by reducing commercial exploitation of animals, protecting wildlife habitats, and assisting animals in distress. We seek to motivate the public to prevent cruelty to animals and to promote animal welfare and conservation policies that advance the well-being of both animals and people. IFAW is an international organization and this site only includes financial information for IFAW's US entity.
