Quality of topics lately?

Am I just getting old or is the quality of topics gone way down lately? Not treaty or anniversary topics, but all the other stuff. I think I just saw a unilateral color protection topic by some unknown micro. Did we have this same old &$*@ 4-5 years ago too?

Are you asking yourself "Who is this alliance leader?" more and more? I used to know most names and posters, but now not so much. I think I assume that new leaders will have more of a multi-chain oA, coalition>ind. treaties, bandwagon attitude which has been culturally more acceptable these past few years, while older leaders are much more stable like Xiphosis, etc. Even people I wouldn't normally like (say a Grub or Crymson), I find I much prefer seeing them post or lead an alliance since I know what to expect and know they have been through good times and bad times. I find myself often times judging someone by their "Nation Created" date.

"Senior players" have done this since 2008; it's just who's considered senior now. You're just mad because you're one of ~the filth~

So filth is what we call the ones who have played since 2006 now?

Ill keep that one in mind.

No, filth is what we call people who are ignorant beyond redemption.

I echo Schat's sentiments. This alongside the fact that the OWF has never been where the real politics happens has made it devolve to the point that it's at now. Old habits die hard, and when CN was still prospering is when my opinions about the value of the main forums was set in stone.

I actually really like the bravado and posturing of the OWF. When people reply with "umad" or "stop whining" I think it just shows how stupid they are and that they don't get what's really going on. No one but maybe a few crazies are actually upset. It's called IC for a reason.

Though I've seen many alliance leaders start to dislike an alliance for stuff regular members or gov say about them in the OWF. So maybe that's where a lot of the blackout comes from. It's safer to keep people off the OWF. But it certainly takes some fun out of the game.

Keeping your mouth shut is always the safest thing to do. It's also no fun to muzzle yourself.

The only reason to stop is if you get stale and never change up.

No one wants to write 5 page papers on why Francoism isn't or is dumb anymore. No one wants to flesh out an alliance wide philosophy. This game is basically dead and everyone knows it so they don't want to dedicate too much time to it.

Letum? He's the chap from the cat alliance? Is Chris Kaos Regent, too? Next you'll tell me they're holding elections again.

I am warning you, thick knight:

I'm a thicker knight by far.

And I doubt anyone misses Francoism. It was boring and tedious, lacking in both relevant substance and style. In all important matters, style, not sincerity, is the essential.

I don't know. OWF participation used to be fun. It wasn't fun because of nonsense like Francoism, it was fun because it was a real-time, interactive episode of Jerry Springer. If it comes to the point where your stance is "I don't want to dedicate time to it" I'd say: 1) you're probably writing the wrong things, because writing can always be fun, and 2) you're creating a self-fulfilling prophecy. The good news is that an aged and insular community like CN's can easily be reinvigorated because everybody knows everybody.

Describing yourself now, I see.
I joined the party in 2012. I haven't seen anything thrilling happen, ever.
Don't expect it to get anymore exciting then.

Your within the leadership of a major alliance, start a major war. Complaining there are no quality threads isn't making things any better. If you think things are boring, its up to you to make it fun.

*sigh* another person who posted a "umad bro" or "quit whining". Before you talk like you know NG's governmental structure, you might want to learn how it's set up first and what the role of Advisor means in NG. You are showing your ignorance. But as someone who's never really wanted to be part of the usual CN conventions after FCC, I wouldn't expect you to understand why your very comment both hilarious and ironic.
