This is something I really don't like discussing because it is a depressing thing for me, but I feel I have to mention it.

Most of the people on CN are adults, and I know a few of them have children. While I don't know how old, I do know that most children are introduced to portible entertainment technology at an early age. When they reach their teenage years (specifically the age they can drive) this presents a huge danger and risk. Of course I am talking about texting and driving.

Let's be perfectly frank people... FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T DO IT! Tell your kids not to do it and make sure they don't. I've been the guy called in the middle of the night to respond to an accedent where a kid was texting and driving, let me assure you... it's not a pretty sight. No, I'm not going to get into any graphic details about some of the stuff I've seen.

Texting and Driving is something that kills on a daily basis people. As I've said before, most of us are adults, and we hope we know better than to do it. But the fact is that teens and adults alike are killed by doing this. I ask you to stop, I'm sure the other emergency responders around the world will ask you to do the same. None of us want to see you bleeding out on a highway while we try to cut our way into the car to get you out and save your life.

Thanks.

(this was prompted by a call I responded to within the past week)

I agree do not use your mobile phone or device while driving. May i further add, do not use headphones tbh, one of my friends was seriously injured when he had headphones in and did not hear car coming. Just a little recommendation for a safer world :)

I agree with you there Mark. It irritates me when we are trying to get to an emergency fast, and the guy in front of us won’t yield because he has his music so loud he can’t hear our hi-lo and Q2. That is a different grievance of mine that I won’t subject you to :P

Don't Drive + Text, from somehow who has seen the aftermath, from the sounds of it :(

Yes, I have seen the aftermath of that. It makes me wonder what was so important that they couldn’t let it wait until they weren’t driving. Usually it’s not just them either; they usually take someone else with them since most of them are a car v. car. That is why whenever I see someone doing it, I write down their license plate number, quickly take a picture (only if I’m stopped), and give it to a buddy of mine in the local police.
