It's called classic Christmas music.

I like Christmas music, except for the vast majority of it which sucks balls.

I find this to be true of most genres of music however.

I bought J.S. Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium on vinyl a year or so ago...that's some good !@#$. A bit of Bing Crosby is pretty nice as well.

I agree that attempts at modern interpretations of Christmas carols usually fail. But I normally listen to Bing Crosby, Gene Autry, Nat King Cole, and the like, so it doesn't bother me. I by and large love Christmas music.
