I recommend enjoying the music in the video while reading these quotes.

“Seeing the glass as half empty is more positive than seeing it as half full. Through such a lens the only choice is to pour more. That is righteous pessimism.”

Criss Jami

"Far better is to have a stout heart always and suffer one's share of evils, than to be ever fearing what may happen."

Herodotus

“Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell.”

Edward Abbey

“Chaos was the law of nature; Order was the dream of man.”

Henry Adams

"A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves."

Lao Tzu

"Where there is no vision, the people perish."

Proverbs 29:18

"Unity gives strength and assures success."

Haile Selassie I

"The skillful tactician may be likened to the [snake]. Strike at its head, and you will be attacked by its tail; strike at its tail, and you will be attacked by its head; strike at its middle, and you will be attacked by head and tail both. Asked if an army can be made to imitate the [snake], I should answer, Yes. For the men of Wu and the men of Yueh are enemies; yet if they are crossing a river in the same boat and are caught by a storm, they will come to each other's assistance just as the left hand helps the right."

Sun Tzu

"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear."

Nelson Mandela

“The harder the conflict, the greater the triumph.”

George Washington

"What is good? All that heightens the feeling of power, the will to power, power itself. What is bad? All that is born of weakness. What is happiness? The feeling that power is growing, that resistance is overcome."

Nietzsche

"I am making superhuman efforts to educate this people. When they have learnt to obey, they will believe what I tell them."

Mussolini

“No man is a man until he has been a soldier.”

Louis de Bernières

"Art is not a mirror to hold up to society, but a hammer with which to shape it."

Trotsky

"True stability results when presumed order and presumed disorder are balanced. A truly stable system expects the unexpected, is prepared to be disrupted, waits to be transformed.”

Tom Robbins

“A man who has been through bitter experiences and travelled far enjoys even his sufferings after a time”

Homer

"We live in a society obsessed with public opinion. But leadership has never been about popularity."

Marco Rubio

"He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good commander."

Aristotle

“Traditional hedonism...was based on the direct experience of pleasure: wine, women and song; sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll; or whatever the local variant. The problem, from a capitalist perspective, is that there are inherent limits to all this. People become sated, bored...Modern self-illusory hedonism solves this dilemma because here, what one is really consuming are fantasies and day-dreams about what having a certain product would be like.”

David Graeber

"What we need is an enthusiastic but calm state of mind and intense but orderly work."

Chairman Mao

"Just do what must be done. This may not be happiness, but it is greatness."

George Bernard Shaw

"Pardon one offense and you encourage the commission of many"

Pulibius Syrus

"When I give a minister an order, I leave it to him to find the means to carry it out."

Napoleon Bonaparte

"If one ember is left alight, no matter how dimly it smolders, a fire will eventually break out. More is lost through stopping halfway than through total annihilation: The enemy will recover, and will seek revenge. Crush him, not only in body but in spirit."- Robert Greene, The 48 Laws of Power

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.- Hebrews 1:36-37 (KJV)

Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery.- Malcolm X

Good stuff.

Here's one of many I've collected over the years..

“You're in the midst of a war: a battle between the limits of a crowd seeking the surrender of your dreams, and the power of your true vision to create and contribute. It is a fight between those who will tell you what you cannot do, and that part of you that knows and has always known that we are more than our environment; and that a dream, backed by an unrelenting will to attain it, is truly a reality with an imminent arrival.” ~ Anthony Robbins

A contextually fulfilling maxam of military stratagem I enjoy:

That Mussolini quote is really bad, but admittedly not as bad as the !@#$%^& himself. Thank god he was killed, eventually.

Why pick on Mussolini when I have other dictators on there? Mao killed far more people.
