and if you only know "The Worst" or other stuff from Sail Out you are really missing out. I'm not suggesting you go out and listen to B2K, but her vocals were a highlight there. She's been on a number of songs with Ab Soul and Schoolboy Q that are superb. Here's her first mixtape http://www.datpiff.com/Jhene-Aiko-Sailing-Souls-mixtape.213671.html

Also look up Alori Joh (RIP); while not as talented, she was also a very neat Black Hippy affiliate.

name the top 20 hip hop artists of the 90s, then top 10 of the 80s.

Not going by sales, but by talent.

I don't listen to too much rap from the eighties. Mostly from '87 up until 2010. As far as the 90s go, I can't think of a top 20, so you'll have to settle with a top 11 :D :

1. 2Pac

2. Nas

3. BIG

4. Wu-Tang Clan

5. Jay-Z

6. Outkast

7. Busta Rhymes

8. Snoop Dogg

9. Scarface

10. De La Soul

11. Mobb Deep

Also, why do you always proclaim to be about "real, deep !@#$" but Biggie, Wu Tang, and Jay Z are all over Outkast?

Biggie, Wu Tang, and Jay Z didn't rap about real !@#$?

How are you "old school" but can't name a top 20 from the 90s? goddamn, kid.

Probably because there were a lot artists to name, so I named the ones who stood out the most to me.

the top 20 would be the top 20 artists who stood out the most.

Wu Tang is versatile, but you've been saying you don't like one-dimensional rap. Aside from lyrical versatility, the conglomerate of Wu Tang has not produced "deep" rap. Biggie told his life story, but all told it was all one big drug dealer's dream. Jay Z is Jay !@#$@#$ Z, he's never had an album with more than two themes involved.

Do you even know what I mean by "real !@#$"?

I mean the struggles and experiences of everyday life, which depending on the artist, may entail drug dealing. Hustling, getting out of the hood, etc.

Cool, so Lil Wayne and Birdman must be your favorites.

while a good rapper, you can't say that biggie didn't dabble into pop territory

Your criteria for what is and isn't a good rapper is nonsensical and overall tends to lean towards straight up hypocrisy.

Never said he didn't, which is why I prefer his Ready to Die-era stuff over his Life After Death stuff. In the grand scheme of things, as long as the artist makes good music that I can relate to in even a subtle way, I have no problem with it.

You consider "Juicy" to be a pop song lol? I thought you were talking more about stuff like "Hypnotize" or "Mo Money Mo Problems".

Juicy isn't a pop song, but it contains a plethora of pop elements. The blending of genres is something that allows people like Kanye, Drake, etc. to reach a wider audience. Some continue to make music that you can enjoy, some don't. That's why I don't judge an artist on the genre, or sub-genre of their music. I judge them on the quality of the music they make and if I can feel what they're saying or not.

P.S. did you even listen to Sailing Souls or Sailing Out in full?
