The new claim that doving upper-tier nations is bad for the game.

This is dumb. It just isn't, unless you want to argue that peace mode is bad for the game.

What's more, none of you guys complained about it when C&G did it in the TPF war.

A recap of the TPF war: C&G hit TPF, then we ordered our lower-tier nations into dove, then C&G ordered their upper-tier nations into dove.

C&G used exactly the strategy that we've been using in this war, and the reason was that they did not want to fight TOP's upper tier.

Just like we don't want to fight Umbrella's upper tier.

To be fair, CnG did it after the other side implemented a peace mode strategy. So it was hardly the same thing.

More importantly, to say that no one complained about it then is ridiculous. I would recommend reviewing some threads from that era. I don't remember anyone being happy with the mass PM strategy during that war either (on either side). It completely killed the war.

'Peace mode doesn't kill or stagnate the game.'

*refers to the use of peace mode in the most stagnant and awful war of the last two years*

That statement would have been a lot bolder if this wasn't only the second major war since Karma.

Peace mode is bad for the game. Never used it, never will.

If peace mode did not exist, then neither would FAN. At least not in their current form, they would have all had to be re-rolls at some point. Peace mode allows the political part of the game to take precedence over the purely military part, at great economic cost to the nation that chooses to use it; it's just fine the way it is. If this game only had the military option, then I doubt a 1/4 of todays population would still be here.

I don't think it's "bad for the game" in some grandiose care-cat sense.

I just think NPO has used it exceedingly ineffectively in this war. Because they're bad at strategy.

If by "exceedingly ineffective" you mean "Made Doomhouse loudly cry about not being able to have fun smashing outnumbered nations in the upper tiers" then I would be inclined to agree.

By exceedingly ineffective I mean split your forces in two, and left a lot of nations to suffer needlessly and perish to ZI.

Or they could all "suffer needlessly and perish to ZI" if they came out and fought at the massive disadvantage Umbrella alone would put them in.

If you declare on someone based on the possibility of their being a threat to the future, why would you let them rebuild to a position where they would become a threat?

Inb4 a bunch of "reallys" and "in all probabilities." If you think that wasn't part of why DH declared, read Archon's DoW again.

Actually, I did complain about it.

Provide quotes.

We also had every intention of actually using ours at some point.

What point would that be?

Whenever you did it, you would have been killed by TOP.

Now i understand why you've been nominated for WPE.

you're just rephrasing "O RLY?" in your replies.

It would have been a tough battle and a pyrrhic victory, but they could eventually swarm TOP because they had superior numbers everywhere else and no one except TOP on the TPF side really could fight, with the exception of TFD and Argent.

C&G did fight TOP's top tier... And collectively brought them all down a ton of infra and a ton of NS. You, however, have chosen to let their top tiers go untouched.

In summary:

When C&G got pre-empted, they called in their allies and took it to TOP and put up a hell of a fight, eventually knocking TOP down into defeat.

When NPO got pre-empted, they called in their allies and decided to not fight back, eventually watching as their warchests got smaller and smaller while their opponents' got bigger and bigger.

C&G decided to try to win their war, and did. NPO decided to try not to win their war, and they won't.

Bad for the game? Hardly. Bad for NPO? Absolutely.
