      Cyber Nations Forum Rules   07/03/2016

        Cyber Nations Forum Rules
In the process of registering on this forum, all players--including you--agreed to accept these terms and conditions and the terms and conditions of Invision Power Board. In doing so you essentially signed an electronic contract pledging to have read the rules and TOS and agreeing to follow the rules and TOS as written. It is your continued responsibility to read, follow, and keep up-to-date with the CN rules.
The following are basic guidelines for use of the Cyber Nations community forum. Anyone caught disobeying these guidelines will be issued a warning. The forum staff works on a five warn limit policy unless the situation calls for more appropriate action ranging from a verbal warning to a double warn and suspension to an immediate ban, etc.   Just because something is not listed specifically here as illegal does not mean it's allowed. All players are expected to use common sense and are personally responsible for reading the pinned threads found in the Moderation forum. Questions regarding appropriateness or other concerns can be sent via PM to an appropriate moderator.   A permanent ban on the forums results in a game ban, and vice versa. Please note that the in-game warn system works on a "three strikes you're out" policy and that in-game actions (including warnings and deletions) may not be appealed. For more information regarding in-game rules please read the Cyber Nations Game Rules.   1.) First Warning
      2.) Second Warning
3.) Third Warning (48 hour suspension at the forum)
4.) Fourth Warning (120 hour suspension at the forum)
5.) Permanent Ban   Game Bans and Forum Bans
If you receive a 100% warn level on the forums, you will be subject to removal from the forums AND have your nation deleted and banned from the game at moderator(s) discretion.   If you are banned in the game, then you will be banned from the forums.   Process of Appeals
Players may not appeal any in-game actions. This includes cheat flags, canceled trades, content removals, warn level increases, nation deletion, and bans from the game.   Players may appeal individual forum warnings. You may only appeal a warning if you can show with evidence that it was unwarranted or unduly harsh. If a reasonable amount of time has passed (no less than one month and preferably longer) in which you have demonstrated reformed behavior than you may request a warning level reduction. Wasting staff time with inappropriately filed reports and/or unfounded appeals will result in a warn level raise. Repeat incidences will result in a ban from the forum.   Bans are permanent. Banned players may appeal to the Senior Staff if they believe grounds exist (very, very rare) in which they state their case with evidence and why explain why they believe they deserve to be allowed back into Cyber Nations. This process is not quick and the investigation into cases may last three minutes or three weeks or more depending on the individual situation.   The only place where discussion of moderator action is acceptable is in the appropriate Moderation forum. Posting commentary on or disagreement with moderator action elsewhere will result in a warn level raise.   Posting
All posts must be in English. Common phrases in other languages will be allowed so long as they are translated upon request. Foreign languages are permitted in signatures and avatars, however.   Certain areas of the forum require you to have a nation in either standard CN or CN:TE. If you have...   A SE and a TE nation: You get one forum account. Your forum account name must match your SE nation or ruler name. You are allowed to post in either SE or TE areas of the forum. You must have your CN:TE nation name listed in your profile to post in the CN:TE section of the forum.
Just an SE nation: You get one forum account. Your forum account name must match your SE nation or ruler name. You are not allowed to post in any TE areas of the forum.
Just a TE nation: You get one forum account. Your forum account name must match your TE nation name or ruler name. Your must have your CN:TE nation name listed correctly in your profile. You are not allowed to post in any of the SE areas. You are allowed to post in the water cooler, question center and the moderation forums. Other than that, all your posts need to stay in the TE area.   Flame/Flamebait/Trolling
Flaming is expressing anger or lobbing insults at a person/player rather than a character, post, idea, etc. Flamebait are posts that are made with the aim of targeting/harassing/provoking another user into rule-breaking. Trolling is submitting posts with the aim of targeting/harassing/provoking a specific group into rule-breaking. Forum users should not be participating in any of these, and doing so will result in a warning.   Topic Hijacking
Hijacking is forcing the current thread discussion off of the original topic and usually results in spam or flame from either side. Forum users found hijacking threads will be given a warning.   Repeat Topics
One topic is enough. Repeat topics will be locked, removed, and the author given a warning. Users found creating repeat topics after others were locked by staff will receive a warn raise.   Joke Topics
Topics created as a joke are prohibited. Joke topics will be locked and the author warned. This includes topics in which the author is making an announcement “for” another in-game alliance. Humorous threads are permitted; it is up to the discretion of the moderation staff to determine what is merely satire and what is actually a joke topic.   Spam
Spam is defined as creating posts or topics containing only contentless material of any kind. Users found spamming will receive a warning. Examples include (but are in no way limited to) posts containing nothing but smilies, "+1", "QFT", "this" any other one/few-word contentless combination, joke threads, or posts containing quotes and anything that counts as spam by itself. Adding words to a post with the express intent of avoiding a spam warn will result in a warning. These posts and other similar contributions have no substance and hence are considered spam. Posts of "Ave", "Hail" or any other one word congratulatory type are acceptable as one word posts. Emoticon type posts such as "o/" without accompanying text is still not allowed. Posts containing only images are considered spam, unless the image is being used in the Alliance Politics sub-forum and then the actual text of the image be placed into spoiler tags.   Posting in All Caps
Posting large amounts of text in capital letters is not permitted. Use discretion when using your caps lock key.   No Discussion Forums
There are forums that are not for discussion and are used strictly for game and forum staff to address certain issues, bugs, etc. The following forums are not open to discussion: Report Game Abuse, Report Forum Abuse, and Warn/Ban Appeals. Only moderators and the original poster may post in a thread, period, with absolutely no exceptions. Users found disobeying this guideline will receive an automatic warning for each offense.   Moderation Forums
All Moderation forums also maintain pinned threads clearly marked as required reading before posting. Failure to read and follow required reading and procedure in a Moderation forum will result in a warning. Examples include posting requests in the wrong forum, failure to include all required information in posts, etc. The standard of conduct and enforcement of rules in Moderation forums is strictly enforced and the repercussions for disregarding rules or disrespecting staff are harsh. Read the pinned threads before posting and you will be fine.   Namecalling
Excessive or unqualified namecalling is not allowed in IC forums; namecalling should also never make up the bulk of a post. Namecalling is prohibited entirely in all OOC forums.   Filtered Words
Any attempts to evade the word filter will result in a warning. The terms we have filtered are filtered for a reason and no excuse for evasion will be accepted. Filter evasion includes censoring or deliberately misspelling part of a filtered word.   If you link to a website, image, video, etc., containing profanity, please post a disclaimer before the link. The moderation staff may still remove links if the content is deemed too obscene.   Harassment
Forum users should not be stalking/harassing others on the forums. Anyone found stalking players from topic to topic, etc., will be subject to a warning.   Gravedigging
Gravedigging is not allowed anywhere on the forums. Gravedigging is "bumping" old topics which haven't been active for quite some time (four to seven days is standard depending on the nature of the thread and how many pages back it had been pushed before bump). Your warn level will be raised if you are caught doing this.   The Suggestion Box and Black Market forums are partial exceptions to this rule. Suggestions/ideas in that forum may be posted in regardless of age PROVIDING that the reviving post contains constructive, on-topic input to the original topic or discussion. Black Market threads may be bumped by the author if there is new information about the offered exchange (i.e open aid slots). In the Player Created Alliances forum it will not be considered gravedigging to bump a topic up to a year old, so long as the alliance in question still exists and it is not a duplicate thread.   Signatures
Those who fail to read and abide by these rules will have their signatures removed and receive a warning.   You may have only one image per signature which may not exceed the maximum size of 450 pixels wide by 150 pixels tall. You may have no more than 8 lines of text and text size cannot exceed size 4. Each quote-tag, image and empty line count as a line.   Inappropriate Images and Other Disallowed Images
Images that are sexual in nature or have sexual overtones are prohibited. It is up to the discretion of the moderation staff to determine what constitutes sexual overtones. Depictions of kissing are permissible provided there are no sexual implications. Images depicting female nipples are prohibited outright.   Making “ASCII art” is prohibited regardless of the image depicted.   Using photos or likenesses of another Cyber Nations player is also prohibited.   Drug References
Images and posts promoting illegal drug use are prohibited. References to drugs are acceptable only if the moderation staff deems that it is not promoting the use thereof.   Obscene Content and/or "Account Suicide"
Anyone caught posting vulgar material (including but in no way limited to pornography, "gross," "tubgirl," "lemonparty," photos depicting RL illegal acts such as violence towards humans or animals, child pornography, death photos, and any other obscene or offensive material in either text form or picture form) will have their account(s) permanently banned, and their ISP contacted along with any other applicable internet and RL authorities.   OOC Threats / Revealing Personal Information
An OOC threat of any nature will equate to an automatic ban from the game and forums. Likewise, the publishing of personal information of any other player without their explicit permission is grounds for warning and/or a ban from the game depending on the severity of the offense.   Death Threats / Death Wishes
A death threat or a death wish of any nature (including but not limited to telling another player to commit suicide) will result in at very least a 40% warn level increase and 2 day suspension from the forums, with harsher punishments, including a complete ban from the forums and game, up to the discretion of the moderation staff.   Quoting Rulebreaking Posts
Do not quote any post with obscene content or any other content that has to be removed by the moderation staff. Doing so makes it more difficult for the moderation staff to find and remove all such content and will result in a warn level increase. Putting rulebreaking posts of any kind in your signature is prohibited.   Forum Names
With the exception of moderator accounts, all forum accounts must match up exactly with the ruler name or nation name of your in-game country. Those found not matching up will be warned and banned immediately. Forum account names may not be profane or offensive.   Multiple Forum Accounts
With the exception of moderators, if you are caught with multiple forum accounts, the multiple account(s) will be banned, warn level raised, and your identity will be announced by a moderator to the CN community so rule-abiding players can take IC action against you. Multiple forum account offenders will receive a varying percentage warn level raise and/or a permanent ban on a case-by-case basis.   Posting For Other Players
Posting for banned or suspended players is prohibited, as is posting for any person without a nation. This includes making warn and ban appeals on their behalf.   Imitation &. Impersonation
Imitation in terms of this forum is mimicking the posting, avatar, or signature styles of another user in an attempt to be satirical or generally humorous. Impersonation in terms of this forum is copying the posting, avatar, or signature styles of another user in order to present the illusion that the person is in fact that user. Imitation is fine and can be quite funny. Impersonation is disruptive and is warnable. Please pay attention to the subtle difference between these two concepts.   A player may not impersonate another player by emulating the characteristics of someone else's past or present account in an attempt to harass, stalk, or flamebait. Creating a new forum account in an attempt to impersonate a standing account will result in deletion and banning without notice.   Any attempt at imitation and/or impersonation of moderators and game staff is strictly prohibited and will be met with harsh repercussions.   Avatars
Size for avatars is limited by the forum mechanics, therefore there is no size issue for a user to worry about. Avatars must be in good taste, and any avatar containing a picture that is too violent, disgusting, sexually explicit, insulting to another player or staff member, etc. will be removed. Avatars that are potentially seizure inducing will not be permitted. Players may not "borrow" the avatars of any moderator past or present without permission.   Swastikas and Nazi Imagery
The swastika may not be used in signatures or avatars. Pictures of swastika's are acceptable for use in the In Character (IC) sections of the roleplay forums, so long as its context is In Character, and not Out Of Character. Pictures of Hitler, mentioning of the Holocaust, etc... have no place in the roleplay forums, since these people and events existed in real life, and have no bearing or place in the Cyberverse. Other Nazi or SS imagery is forbidden in all forums.   Moderation Staff
The revealing of the private identities of any Cyber Nations staffers past or present is strictly prohibited, and thus no speculation/accusation of identity is allowed. Doing so is grounds for moderator action against your account appropriate to the offense, including a full forum/game ban.   Claims of moderator bias should be directed to the highest level of authority--the Head Game & Forum Mod/Admin, Keelah. Claims of moderator bias without supporting evidence is grounds for a warning.   Blatant disrespect of the moderator staff is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to spoofing moderator accounts in any way, sig/avatar references, baiting, flaming, rude demands, mocking, attitude, and unsubstantiated claims of bias. They are volunteers hired to enforce the rules. If you have a problem with the way a moderator is enforcing the rules or the rules themselves please contact Keelah.   Attempting to use the moderation staff as a weapon by abusing the report system in an attempt to get another player warned or banned is strictly prohibited.   Do not ask about becoming or campaign to become a moderator. The moderators are drawn from CN membership but moderation positions are by invitation only. Asking to become one will substantially decrease your chances of ever being asked.   Aiding Rule Violators
Any user found to know of a serious rule violation without reporting it to a game moderator (eg. knowledge of a user with multiple nations) will be given a warning or, in more serious cases, have their nation deleted.   Aiding Banned Players
Any user found to be harboring, aiding or otherwise knowingly helping a banned user will be deleted. This includes knowing of their existence within the game without reporting it to the game-moderation staff.   Questionable Actions and Content
The forum rules are not designed to cover every scenario. Any action that is seen to be counter-productive or harmful to the forum community may be met with moderator action against your account. The Cyber Nations Moderation Staff reserves the right to take action against your account without warning for any reason at any time.   Private Transactions
Nation selling and other private transactions via such auction sites like eBay is against the Cyber Nations terms and conditions. While our moderators cannot control what people do outside of the game you are not allowed to promote such private exchanges on our forums without expressed permission from admin only. Anyone found to be engaging in such activity without permission will be banned from the game.   Advertising
Advertising other browser games and forums is prohibited. Soliciting donations towards commercial causes is also prohibited. If you wish to ask for donations towards a charitable cause, please contact a moderator before doing so.   Extorting Donations
Donations are excluded from any kind of IC payment. Anyone found extorting others for OOC payments will be warned in-game and/or banned.   Third Party Software
Third party software is not allowed to be advertised on these forums by any means (post, signature, PM, etc). These programs can easily be used to put malware on the user's computer, and as such can cause huge security issues. Anybody who is caught spreading links to these will at the very least have their warning level increased.   Other Forum Terms & Rules   Please take a moment to review these rules detailed below. Once again, war is in full swing. The outcome of this war seems a little more clearcut than the last global war, but as always, we have to go through the motions so we can form our grudges and get our troll on for the next six months. Before I discuss the current conflict, I want to recall what ultimately happened in the previous war.

And as a sidenote: This blog entree is meant to be a follow up to my previous blog post regarding the previous global war.

In the lead-up to the war there was two competing power spheres: TOP/MK and NPOsphere. NPO was trying to build a powersphere with CnG and the sphere superstar, NG. TOP/MK were simply doing everything in their power to maintain their stint of jackassery (see: dave war).

NPO decided TOP/MK's time as most influential powersphere was over. Unfortunately for NPO, in order to win a war against TOP/MK, NPO had to sacrifice their future powersphere buddy, CnG. NPO decided this was a fair trade. CnG was joined at the hip to TOP/MK/Umb, and NPO couldn't change that before the war; however, this made it all the more critical to the NPO powersphere that NG not get rolled in the crossfire. And from NPOsphere's perspective, that's a logical wish. What's a powersphere if you have no power?

Anyway, NPO and friends where so aggressive about building their powersphere, I think they actually believed NG would stay out of the war altogether. Considering NG had MDoAP partners on both sides of the war, a sanctioned alliance staying out of the war altogether is nearly impossible. (that should give a clue how protective they were of their powersphere) Well, NG had done how they do and ticked off a number of alliances in NPO's coalition, and soon enough NG's allies where hit. NPO's future sphere was in flames.

At the end of the day, If NPO wanted a powersphere, TOP/MK/Umb had to be dismantled. Brehon estimated it was going to take upwards of 6 months (and then some) to fully do so. All members of the coalition were prepared for war of that duration. But now that NPO's sphere is burning, the longer the war lasts, the weaker NPOsphere became. NPO had to make a choice: end the war early, or continue being destroyed in a war of attrition. NPO decided their powersphere was more important than the annihilation of Doomhorse and friends, so NPO decided to unilaterally end the war early, despite the desires of the rest of the coalition.

The instant the war ended, I think most people in XX, DR, and even many in NPOsphere where expecting another war on MKsphere remnants in the future. I know I personally was fully expecting to finish off that which didn't get rolled hard enough the first time. Things would have been all well and good, except for the excessive outrage coming from NG, NSO, and NPO against the alliances which pulled NG into the war. I have to say it wasn't those alliance's fault NG's membership are collectively pricks, nor is it their fault NG tried to save their own skin playing the fence. The outrage was so inane and severe from NG, NSO/NPO that it in essence scared NpO into a treaty with TOP.

Now, I've made it quite clear to a number of folks, I'm not a fan of TOP, and I haven't been for quite some time. Aligning with TOP is not a move I champion, but I can relate with NpO feeling threatened. At that point, all I can say in regards to the war is the following:

-Way to go you !@#$@#$ retards. Specifically you, Non Grata. The alliances you felt were so worthy of your defense last war are pounding your !@#$@#$ face in. NPO's beloved sphere is in ruins largely thanks to you.

-Way to go CnG, you !@#$@#$ retards. I said in my previous blog post DHsphere didn't give a damn about you, and if that wasn't clear before, it's crystal clear now. While you deserved to get rolled again as much as MKsphere remnants deserved to get rolled again, I actually lobbied against your sack of !@#$ block suffering the magnificent face punching you are currently enduring. I cannot wait for your disbandment, and you can count on a big smug chuckle from me when you finally make the announcement.

-As for NPO/NSO, I like you. In fact, I genuinely feel sorry for you. You got greedy from my perspective and I wish things worked out differently, but that's the way things go I suppose.

After all this, the biggest kicker of all is that the entire purpose of the previous war was to remove MKsphere's political leg. While it's gloriously true that MK disbanded, many of the sphere's key political players are around and kicking, now latching onto XX. I feel like XX has a goddamn headcrab on it. I just hope XX is still alive under there, and has enough brains left to perform removal surgery time comes. If not, I worry XX could end up as brainless and used as CnG.

tl;dr the funniest thing about this war is that NG, CnG and friends tried to play hardline politics and ended up screwing themselves and the allies that cared about them most in the ass. Their actions rendered most efforts from the previous war pointless. I want to thank them for that. :\

Hope you enjoyed the read. Good night and good luck all!

I've been semi-closely following this snowden ordeal.

I don't want to make an argument about what he's done as being right or wrong. I have my own opinion on that, but that's not why I made this blog.

In CN, if someone spies on your alliance. Another alliance harboring that person is an act of war. Granted, CN is not RL, but I think it puts into perspective how potentially damaging this could be for US relations with other countries.

What can be worse than rogue harboring, is when a rogue goes to another alliance with the explicit intention to use them as a safe haven or "big stick" with which to gain extortion leverage against the infringed alliance. Ecuador is really in a bad position in this case. I don't think Snowden really cares about Ecuador. He just wanted to go there because he thinks he can get asylum like assange. What incentive is there really for Ecuador to help this guy? I would think Ecuador government would have more important things to do than to concern themselves over a person who is arguably a criminal.

I mean, if I wanted to go to Ecuador without a passport. I have no doubt, I'd get turned away at the border. Even if I begged the border security how much I'd love to stay in Ecuador, I'd still be turned away. Why would any country go out of the way for snowden? In sparta, if you're on someone's blacklist, you get turned away. It's rare government will go out of the way for you regardless of how much you beg for mercy, for the simple reason that these people are more trouble than they are worth. There will be no return on investment. No payoff. Only trouble, only headache. Granted, in RL, there's an ethical responsibility that goes along with all this, but if ethical responsibility is Ecuador's prime motive for harboring snowden, wouldn't Ecuador have more impact at less cost helping people in Africa or some similar cause/region?

What do you think? Are CN rogues and alliance response a representative comparator for this particular escapade by snowden? Does Ecuador have valid reason to harbor snowden?

Realism in Gaming

This has bugged me for the longest time. I just saw a promo for the new XBox one, and it reminded me how much this concept bugged me, hence the blog post.

The promo (found here) says, "With Xbox One, games are so lifelike, you’ll swear they’re real. Immerse yourself in cinematic worlds with characters that are more human than ever."

Realism has never, ever been a deciding factor for me in games that I've enjoyed playing. In fact, I think the more realistic games have become, the less interested I've been in gaming at all. (Although that could be because I'm older now and simply have more RL !@#$ to do, but I digress)

Let me examine a few games I have played over the years:

-Medal of honor games were always pretty good way back when, but I think I liked them mostly for their historical realism, rather than their graphic realism and gameplay.

-I was always a huge huge fan of bond games for N64.-There was little realism in those games at all. They had more comedic value and fun gameplay than anything.

-I was never a huge fan of HALO (I always thought the flood ruined that storyline); however, I commend bungie for an interesting storyline and impressive gameplay.

-Warcraft III/RedAlert/Starcraft/etc Even though I suck massive $@ at RTS, these are some of the best games ever. FPS fanboy's can blow me. There's not really anything real about W3,RA, or SC, and they're all amazing games.

-Mario, if you don't like mario, GTFO my blog. Classic. Amazing. Not realistic in any way. I'd play Supermario64 or Super Mario World this instant if I had it.

-Ghost Recon Advanced war fighter. That game was very "real" and I thought it sucked ass because of it. You walked around......super slow. 1 or 2 shot kill by a sniper. Have to start the mission from the begging. Really? If I wanted to do something as annoying as spend hours looking around for 4 or 5 high-res snipers, I'd rather go update my tax information. I got so sick of it, I never actually finished the game.

-Rainbow Six vegas, meh. The graphics were good. It was interesting, but nothing to write home about: Terrorists stealing WMD launch codes. Same tom clancy horse!@#$, different day

I just don't understand. Why does everyone want games to be more real? In no way does realism mean a game is worth playing. If so, GRAW would be top rated game of all time, and it's insulting to even suggest that. I witnessed this in a few online games similar to CN that were still in development. Admins would ask for suggestions, and they would get responses like this: "make _____ addition, it will make the game more realistic". It's a freaking browser game. Let me repeat that: a browser, game. It's not 3D. There's no sweet graphics, and most importantly, it's a !@#$@#$ game. If I wanted to do something that perfectly modeled my real life, why wouldn't I just do real life? I don't want the game to perfectly reflect my real life. My real life consists of pain, misery, and annoyances. I play games to escape those things! Don't make my games suck too. Here's a perfect example: if admin removed Navy from CN, how many $%&@s would be given that day? I think most of us would be overjoyed. On the other hand, I'm sure all you vets know that all the nubs would come around en masse all, "@admin: implement a navy differently, it'd add more realism to the game". NO. !@#$@#$ NO. THAT WONT ENHANCE ANYTHING! Sometimes, I don't understand people.

Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way, but I'd like to hear your thoughts. Why is the gaming industry so awestruck over realism?

I've been bored recently. Decided to pick a fight with some youtube nubs. I found a delicious target on the WTC's. What I've learned from truthers:

Apparently, the fuel shouldn't have exploded, because the combustion temperature of jet fuel is 140F. It is not possible that temperature could have been reached, obviously.

Because fuel reaches a pressure of 60psi during combustion, it couldn't have wrecked steel with a shear strength of 36,000psi.

Apparently a year is too long (or too short?) a time to clean up half a million tons of debris. Clearly, a coverup is at hand.

Airplanes don't need velocity to fly.

Tower 7, contained nothing of value, which is why it was a perfect clandestine place for a detonation center

Tower 7, contained a wealth of valuable items, most of which incriminated the government and banking industry of financial crimes.

I'm having a field day here. :troll: My favorite is when they try and present me with engineering evidence. They're like a much cuter version of amateur physicists. BUT EINSTEIN SAID THE SPACE TIME CONTINUUM WILL COLLAPSE UPON ITSELF WHILE EMITTING TRANSFLUX DINGLEHOPPERS IN THE AXIAL DIRECTION OF RADIAL ELECTROMAGNETIC FLOW. Clearly ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves an anomaly.

So the war's in full swing. Only a couple surrenders so far. Both coalitions are trying to propagandize their way to victory.

I'd like to take a step back a minute and break down what DH/Umbrella, is saying out there. They're trying to make the case that they've won in the upper tier. And hands down, I think Umbrella will have an upper tier victory if this war lasts only a short duration, but regardless of the war's duration, what about CnG? What about VE? They don't have Upper tiers like Umbrella. Competence may get an upper tier victory, but what does that mean for the nations that make up the majority of their coalition?

It doesn't take very long to stumble on a post like Cuba's, where he says Umbrella is basically saving themselves at the expense of their coalition.

Went ahead and tallied up my wars (had to interpolate a bit since a few were deleted/not registered) and I've done a collective 425k NS damage to my opponents. That's more than certain entire AA's out there. Just because I finished my task before the "shark tank (lol)" could kill my AA-mates doesn't mean I've not done some heavy lifting. Quite the contrary sir, we've actually statistically eliminated the entire enemy super tier, and most of its remaining upper tier, thereby securing our own security for the next, I dunno, 3 years?

So, Umbrella super tier is going to sit around and do nothing, while CnG/VE and friends get smashed into oblivion. For three years he says!

A little bit later, we find another doosey

This war won't last forever, nobody wants that. But we still have some fight left in us, and we are making this war as painful for you as possible. We may lose, but in the meantime we are decimating your upper tiers. Like I said, we can rebuild our lower and middle tiers a lot easier than you can rebuild your upper tiers.

Translation: Don't worry CnG, that 650,000 tech lost is easily replaceable. There's plenty of tech sellers out there. (right?) Heck Look at Umb, we have no trouble getting tech. And besides, we'll aid you a billion dongs, after we first aid Goons a billion dongs of course, and the world will be at peace once again. -_-

Let's get one thing straight, CnG. Umbrella does not give a damn about you. These two posts alone imply that, and there's many signals beyond that. These posts implicitly concede CnG is getting stomped, but that's ok because Umbrella isn't getting stomped, and even though CnG may be permanently mangled, Umbrella will be able to 'forever bask in super nation glory'. CnG being the selfless bloc that they are, that's all that matters, right? Right?

ODN/INT, You guys are going to learn a hard lesson that it took sparta far too long to learn. I know you're excited. Umb probably gave you a special forum mask. They probably talk to you everyday on IRC. And dat avgNS. Who could

forget that avgNS. What else could you want in such a great ally?

The truth is Umb is !@#$@#$ you in the ass. Once they're done using you and you decide to call them on it, they're going to try and make you feel better with future promises, monetary aid or both. First, Let me be clear, It's not realistic to send you enough monetary aid to anywhere near cover your political and pixel damages. Umbrella has this mindset, where if you have an avgns less than them, they'll send you a few million dongs and somehow you'll magically be "strong" once again. CnG, You're not goons. No amount of money is going to cover your losses. They're making an offer no idiot will accept, so they can say that they tried to help you in the future if you complain. Despite the fact that they know the offer is garbage, and have no real intention of making good on the offer anyway. I've heard relationships with Umbrella be described as abusive, and that really is a perfect word to describe it. Unfortunately, I think it's something you have to really experience to fully understand, but hey, I'm doing my best to tip you off early. Second of all, they're not going to keep their future promises. They're going to do what's best for them, at. all. times. I could pull up posts of JA and crew blatantly saying history doesn't matter and instances of them going against their word to save their own skin, but I won't drag up old news.

If you think I'm !@#$%^&*ting you, ask MHA, Ask Alpha Omega, ask any of Umbrella's former allies. After Roq left, Umbrella has completely lost perspective on the world. They only think about themselves, and Umbrella posts show that they haven't changed a single bit. They're going to throw your whole bloc under the bus, so they can "buy themselves 3 more years on top". Use your head and read into what they are saying. Actions speak louder than words, and right now their actions are saying they have every intention to do you no service.

G.I. Joe sums up my recommendations to CnG/VE pretty well:

tl;dr The funniest part of this war, is that if CnG/VE don't pull their head out of their butt, they may find themselves amongst the ranks of Invicta and Legion, when they were joined at the hip with '09 NPO.

Good night and good luck all

You're one to talk about spin when it's no secret that said cancellation was in no way political and that IRON signed off on our own treaty with Umbrella.

I'll be honest, I don't know much about the interactions there. I don't doubt that IRON signed off on that treaty, but I guess I question if IRON's opinion really mattered at all in the first place. If IRON said, no, we prefer if you didn't sign that treaty. Would things be different today? Maybe you would have waited a couple weeks before you pressured for approval again, but I doubt they'd be able to prevent the treaty from being signed. They may have just said yes to cut through the b.s..

We were aware of the Umbrella treaty and didn't have any principle objections, we didn't "sign off" on the treaty, we don't sign off on the foreign policy objectives of our allies, it's not our job to dictate their agenda. If we are on divergent paths then we will quite simply part when we come to the cross roads. IRON knows where TOP perceives itself to be in the world and vice versa, we're not concerned and neither should anyone else be :)

I wanted to make another post about what MCRABT is saying here. It seems there's a small conflict between what TOP and IRON are saying. TOP says IRON was fine with the Umbrella treaty, and IRON is saying they had a ~neutral opinion on the treaty. Further, MCRABT doesn't feel it's his right or responsibility to press his agenda on anyone else, which further begs the question, did you really have a neutral attitude, or did you not want to put your ally in a tough position? That's a rhetorical question, really. I don't need a bunch of TOP rage posts. I'm not here to mudsling. The true answer is probably somewhere in between, and that's OK. I realize there are many dynamics involved with these decisions/events. But I digress, I wrote this blog because I think MCRABT has highlighted an interesting difference between Sparta and IRON, and I wanted to talk about it.

MCRABT seems to imply IRON takes a highly hands off approach to diplomacy of allies and allies of allies. I'd say that's a sharp contrast to how Sparta handles diplomacy with our allies. I'd say Sparta is a pretty vocal alliance with our allies in the sense that treaty partners come to us and tell us they'd like to sign a new treaty partner. Further they ask, how does Sparta feel about that? We see this very clearly: an ally of Sparta's ally, is an ally to Sparta. We want to like our friends. We want to like the friends of our friends. If we don't like someone, we're going to let you know about it. Granted, the choice to treaty is ultimately up to the alliance in question, but the way I see it is if your ally is a liability to us, then it's our business. To have little consideration for our thoughts or opinions is a bold move to make. As such, I/We/Sparta appreciate when other alliances listen to and value our input when it comes to treaty partners. I can think of, but won't name, a few instances where this has had significant impact on Sparta, our allies, and the unaligned. Was the impact positive or negative? Well, I could argue both with myself. I would never argue that we make the right decisions all the time, but I am glad we do things the way we do.

Is Sparta's or IRON's approach better than the other? You can decide that, I suppose.
