A joint announcement from the LSF and UCR

Optimistic

Following the great comradeship shown by UCR to the LSF, we have both decided that it is necessary to upgrade our relations from an ODP to an MDoAP. May this treaty live long and umm... prosper.

Preamble:
The Union of Communist Republics and the Libertarian Socialist Federation hereby sign this Mutual Defence and Optional Aggression Pact to unite Communists and Anarchists to show their trust and recognition to one another.

Article I: Internal Conflict:
No comrade of either the LSF or UCR shall ever commit an act of aggression toward each other. Any attacks by rogue nations will be punished as seen fit by the responsible signatory (or by a council of both alliances if such a request is made). Both alliances retain their sovereignty and remain free to conduct themselves as they see fit with other alliances on Digiterra.

Article II: Respect:
Both signatories agree to remain civil to each other at all times in public and in private. Any disputes between UCR and LSF should be first handled in private channels.

Article III: Intelligence:
We share secrets important for each other's safety and we agree that secrets stay secrets. No telling to 3rd parties without previous approval.

Article IV: Mutual Defence:
Both the LSF and UCR undertake to defend each other should either be aggressed upon by an outside alliance. It is understood that an attack on one signatory is an attack on both signatories, and that the defence must be undertaken to the fullest capabilities of both signatories.

Article V: Optional Aggression:
Should either LSF or UCR deem it necessary to enter a state of aggressive war with a third party, then the other signatory is encouraged to offer support in said war. Support is not mandatory, and completely at the discretion of the other signatory.

Article VI: Free Trade Agreement:
Both the LSF and UCR agree to henceforth open all channels of trade to each others respective alliances. This includes Tech Dealing in pre arranged prices, common Trade Circles building, Foreign Aid and everything we forgot to mention here.

Article VII: Protection Against Trade Abuse:
In the event of a Tech Deal, Trade Circle or whatever gone awry, UCR and LSF will deal with the problems from both sides and will work to bring the problem to a quick and quiet resolution, following the principles of socialist solidarity. If they can't agree on what exactly socialist solidarity is supposed to be, they should try again.

Article VIII: Cancellation:
This treaty may be annulled at any time by either alliance. Should the need to annul occur, the cancelling alliance must give a 48 hour notice of their intention to cancel via private channels and a legitimate reason of why they have chosen this option. The treaty will remain in effect until the 48 hour period has elapsed.

I'm still not sure how Communism, which seeks to use government force to keep people "equal" can be compatible with anarchism. Almost seem like complete opposite philosophies to me, as anarchists leave it to the individual to decide how to live and communists want the state to restrict the freedom of the individual to bring about what they consider the greater good. Good luck with the treaty regardless though, you guys all seem like decent folk even if I can't bring myself to agree with your communist agenda. :P

OOC: anarchist communism isn't the same as marxist communism. It's a stateless society that seeks the same ends as communism, just on a voluntary basis :OOC

Congrats again, LSF and UCR. :awesome:
